2018 Japan Trip - The Detective Conan Town in Tottori!!!! :)
(Actual town footage getting off of the train starts at 8:20) From 7/3/18, I've been wanting to go to this area for a LONG time now. Because of us finally staying in Kyoto instead of Tokyo during our second week, we were able to take a three hour train ride from Kyoto to Tottori (about 3 hours north west of Kyoto), which in turn went from the Kurayoshi station in Tottori to the Yura station, which is also called the Conan station. :)
Besides this walk through of the town, we also got to see the Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory. I wasn't able to record inside there due to lots of areas in there not allowing cameras, but overall, I was VERY happy I got to see one of the places in Japan dedicated to one of my all time favorite series ^_^

2018 Japan Trip - Riding the Special DETECTIVE CONAN Train (at Yura/Conan Station in Tottori)
In Tottori (Which is about a 3 hour train ride northwest of Kyoto) there is a special town dedicated to the Detective Conan/Case Closed Anime/Manga series, where they have a bunch of statues all around the town of the characters from the show along with a manga museum dedicated to the creator of the series. Oh yeah, they have a specialty CONAN train that runs at certain times in the day as well, which we happened to catch when we went to Tottori on 7/3/18. :)

ハリス、クリストファー J.（北栄町：主任兼国際交流員兼外国語指導員）が英語で北栄町のとっておきの観光スポット、あんなところ、こんなモノを紹介するよ！
名づけて「HELLO HOKUEI!」外国人の皆さんに北栄町を少しでも好きになってほしいで～～す！そして、日本人の皆さんも動画を見ながら僕と一緒に英語を勉強してみようね！
第１回目に紹介するのは、皆さんの大好きな「青山剛昌ふるさと館」です。こちらの館は2007年3月18日にオープン。毎年たくさんのコナンファンが世界中から訪ねてきいるよ。館内では青山剛昌先生の小学生時代の作文や絵、当時の写真が飾ってあったり、入館者だけが楽しめるスマホを使った新アトラクションや専用アプリでコナン君や色々なキャラクター達と一緒に写真を撮ったりできるよ。
平成29年度に「青山剛昌ふるさと館」を訪れた観光客は12万人以上！平成30年度に「青山剛昌ふるさと館」を訪れた観光客は16万人以上！そのうち外国人観光客が1万7千人と年々増えています。すごいですね～～！ここは年中無休ですから、単純に一日で割ると440人以上の方が訪れている、北栄町自慢の観光スポットで～す。
HELLO HOKUEI: Christopher J. Hollis (Director of Foreign Affairs, International Exchange and Foreign Language Education at the Hokuei Government Office) introduces in English the most amazing places to visit in Hokuei (“Conan Town”) in Tottori Prefecture, Japan!
In volume one, Mr. Hollis introduces the Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory (commonly known as the “Detective Conan Museum” by fans), which opened on March 18, 2007. Detective Conan fans come from all over the world to visit this popular destination. In the museum, there are original drawings by Gosho Aoyama (the creator of Detective Conan) and various interactive attractions. Also, you can take AR photographs and videos with the characters from Detective Conan using your smartphones and an exclusive application that only visitors to the museum can enjoy.
The Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory was visited by more than 120,000 tourists in 2017 and more than 160,000 in 2018! Among them, the number of foreign tourists was over 17,000 each year. That's amazing! It's open all year round, so if you simply divide the number of visitors in 2018 by 365, it's a sightseeing spot in Hokuei that more than 440 people visit per day!

Trip to Conan Town/ Museum: すごい
Detective Conan or Case Closed is one of the longest running manga and anime series today. Since its manga debut in 1994, more than 80 volumes have been released. As for its anime since 1996, there are more than 800 episodes to date.

Conan Town!
Conan Town = Hokuei. it's where the author of DC grew up. The town itself was suppppper rural that I had to transfer to a local train in order to get to the station, Yura. Hokuei is in Tottori Prefecture, so if you plan to make a stop there, you can plan a few days visit to Tottori. For me, since I'm a backpacker and did not have time to go to Tottori, I basically did a day-trip to Conan Town.
After getting off at Yura station, you're in Conan Town. There's nothing to see besides Conan, literally. Follow Conan Street for about 30 minute and you will get to the Conan Museum.
Buy a lot of merch! You won't regret it lol
