Conch Bar Caves | Turks & Caicos
I went on a little adventure in my home backyard and found the Conch Bar Caves on Middle Caicos is the largest non-submerged cave system in the Bahamas-Turks and Caicos island chain and is a Turks and Caicos national park. The cave system is named after the village of Conch Bar nearby.

Amazing caves to visit (can wear flip flops but running shoes are better). Stop at the entrance to pay the fee and strongly recommend the extra couple bcks for the guided tour. Dimitri, the tour guide was awesome (while not required/requested, tipped him because he was that great).
For videographers or photographers, well worth it. Don’t forget a steady cam, ND filter and a couple of strong LED lights for various effects (lighting, backlighting, etc). Lower light areas could use a travel tripod for support and smaller F-stop. Christmas room is completely pitch dark with no lights. Absolutely mental.
Inscription on the plaque outside the entrance:
These limestone caves are the largest in the Caicos Islands. They continue underground for great distances and some believe there are tunnels that reach the sea.
In the 1880’s, the caves were mined for “guana” or bat maure. For 10 years until the supply was exhausted this “cave” earth was exported overseas where fertilizer was in great demand.
During this time, evindence of Lucayan habitation was unearthed. These aboriginal people used the caves as places of worship and as shelters during hurricanes. Artifacts include two wooden stools and some crude bedsteads of forked sticks.

Blue Hills Beach, Providenciales TCI
Blue Hills Beach, located in the Blue Hills settlement of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Island.
This beach is easy to get to, super-relaxed, never a crowd and is close to the iconic beach bar and grill Da Conch Shack.
This beach is (with the exception of its natural beauty), the antithesis of of Grace Bay Beach Trip Advisors #1 ranked beach. No hustle and bustle of tourists, solicitors, motor boats and the like.
With the exception of a few new restaurants, Blue Hills hasn't changed much from it sleepy-fishing-village past. It's the perfect place to get a truly authentic island experience.
Come for the beach, stay for sun-downers, cold beer and the freshest locally caught seafood anywhere.

Full Disclosure
Blue Hills beach is known to have more seaweed build up than in other leeward side locations. This is a natural process due to the abundance of turtle grass that grows in the area; don't let the name fool you, conch love it too. Like the tides, the seaweed comes and it goes (without the help of a condo association)... ;)
Blue Hills is not an affluent area but is populated with genuine, kind hearted people who will happily bestow their hospitality toward visitors.
