BUHAY CANADA WASCANA PARK ADVENTURE
#BUHAYCANADA #WASCANA #PARK # ADVENTURE
Wascana Centre
is a 930 hectare (9.3 km2/2,300 acre/3.6 mi2) urban park built around Wascana Lake in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, established in 1912 with a design from renowned architect Thomas Mawson. The park is designed around the Saskatchewan Legislative Building and Wascana Lake. High-profile features include the University of Regina, Royal Saskatchewan Museum, Conexus Arts Centre, Saskatchewan Science Centre, and CBC Regional Broadcast Centre. Wascana Centre brings together lands and buildings owned by the City of Regina, University of Regina, and Province of Saskatchewan. The park is located immediately south of the city's downtown core, bordered by residential areas on the east, south and west, and on the south-east edge it spills out onto open Saskatchewan prairie along Wascana Creek.
Wascana lake was created in 1883 by damming Wascana Creek, a low flow seasonal run-off stream, to serve as a reliable water reservoir for the town and railway ... and which residents readily began using for recreation. In 1905 Saskatchewan gained provincial status and planning began on a monumental — and in retrospect wildly optimistic — new capital building in Regina, a vision which required an equally monumental landscaping plan. The new Saskatchewan Legislative Building was completed in 1912 and with it the 1912 Mawson Plan for Wascana Park.[1]
By the 1950s the city was growing rapidly and pressures on the park led to its incorporation as the Wascana Centre Authority (1962), with a mandate to establish an ongoing vision protecting the park as a valued asset of the city and province. The first Master Plan was developed the same year in conjunction with a new University of Saskatchewan[2] campus to be built on the southeast end of the park. A revised Master Plan has been published every five to seven years since, the most recent being 2016.[3]
In 2017 Wascana Centre Authority was dissolved and management was absorbed into the Saskatchewan government's Provincial Capital Commission.[4]
Waskimo Winter Festival 2019 - Regina Saskatchewan Canada - Family Day - February 18th - HD 1080p
The city of Regina is not exactly located at North pole but is the one which can give you the closest experiences of it due to its weather and fun filled activities around the winter time, but at the comfort of a well developed city.
Waskimo Winter Festival is one of such wonderful festivals which is held annually on Family Day Monday every year with a bunch of winter fun indoor and outdoor activities in Wascana Park.
This year, the same was held on the Family day Monday February 18th in front of Conexus Art Centre just a little south of Downtown Regina.
The event attracted daredevils from around the city and beyond for a polar plunge into freezing cold water at an atmospheric temperature of well below -20° C. The festival zone was filled with family events like Horse cart rides, curling for children, weapons display by Canadian army, and various fun activities like skating, Snobear ride (tracked snow vehicle), ice hockey over frozen Wascana lake and many more.

Dancing with the Regina Stars
The Regina Ballroom Dancing Club hosted a star-studded evening on April 26, 2008 at 8:00 pm, at the Conexus Arts Centre. Dancing With Regina’s Stars featured six celebrities (Jan Betker, Carol Gay Bell, Lee Jones, Bill Hutchinson, Carla Beynon) paired with instructors from the RBDC, and performances by Canadian Idol Top Ten Finalist, Matt Rapley. The dance couples performed two routines to be evaluated by a panel of judges, but the audience had the final say in selecting the winners.
Although a champion was selected, local and national charities were the true winners of Dancing With Regina’s Stars. 100% of proceeds were divided equally among organizations selected by the celebrities.
The evening began with a group routine from the RBDC’s self-grown talents. The competition moved into the first round of dances from the couples. Each pair received feedback from a panel of judges. Capping off the first half was a performance by singer Matt Rapley.
Dancers switch modes in the second half of the show as each pair prepared a Latin and a smooth ballroom dance. Once again, the judges had their say, but to little avail; the event ultimately was judged by the audience.
Audience members (those with SaskTel Mobility cell phones) were able to have a text-to-vote option.
The video was produced by Bamboo Shoots (bambooshoots.ca) for a SaskTel Max feature.
