南京夫子廟 十里秦淮 Fuzimiao Confucian Temple Nanjing 2012
Nanjing Fuzimiao (南京夫子廟) Confucian Temple: located in the south of Nanjing City, situated on banks of Qinhuai River. For many years it's a place reputed as a center of culture, arts, shopping, entertainment and grand fairs.
Shi Li Qinhuai (十里秦淮), which means that the streets in the Fuzimiao area had a total length of 10 Li (5 km), and the place was described as with countless shops, restaurants, bars and hotels, lining up two sides of these streets with colorful signs and lights. Today Fuzimiao area is still one of the most famous attractions for tourists.

CONFUCIUS TEMPLE SCENIC AREA- FUZIMIAO
This Scenic Area called Fuzimiao spreads around centuries old Confucius Temple in Nanjing China which remained capital of China for few centuries. The Pedestrian Street along the Confucius Temple is called Gongyuan Jie which has a large number of restaurants, food stalls, venders’ pavilions, shops and markets. The serene Qinhuai River with a number of bridges flows by the side of the Temple in Fuzimiao silently giving grace and wonderful charm to the area. The Wende Bridge near the Temple is the center of gravity in the whole area.
The Confucius Temple was built around 1034 AD in Song Dynasty to pay homage to the great Chinese philosopher and teacher, Confucius. During the last 11 centuries it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times. Lastly it was severely damaged and ‘burnt to ruins’ by Japanese army in 1937 but was reconstructed in 1984. The Temple now enshrines two main interesting seats i.e China Imperial Examination Museum and Xue Gong (Imperial Academy).

南京にある中華門は、明代に設置された南京城の正門。城壁を含めて明代に作られたものがそのまま残っている、中国史ファンならたまらない建物です。
その後、孔子がまつられているという夫子廟へ。夫子廟一角は南京民にも人気の繁華街で、飲食店等もたくさん存在し人がごった返している状態。そんな中でも夫子廟の中は厳粛な空気が流れ、多くの方が願い事をしていました。
これらのスポットは、南京観光・南京旅行では外せないスポットです。中国明代の首都であった南京を感じることが出来る場所です。
The Gate of China is a gate and defensive complex on the city wall of Nanjing built in Ming-era and it remains almost as it is. After visiting the Gate of China, I went to Fuzimiao.
Within the Fuzimiao area, there is a lot of people of Nanjing, so this area might be one of the downtown area of Nanjing.
Although many people enjoy their stay, at Fuzimiao (Confucius Temple), the place has solemn atmosphere and people make a wish to Confucius, who is the most famous and great chinese philosopher.
In Japan, Confucius is very famous because Confucianism has some influence on Japanese culture and custom.
If you travel to Nanjing, you must go to these spot - Confucius Temple and Gate of China, because you can feel A long history of China, especially Ming-era, in which capital is located at Nanjing.

然后去夫子庙。夫子庙附近有很多人，很热闹。我觉得大概这个地方是闹市。
但是进夫子庙以后，夫子庙里气氛庄严。
在日本，孔子是很有名，因为孔子和儒教施加影响日本的生活，文化。

Nanjing Fuzimiao (Chinese: 南京夫子庙) or Fuzimiao (Chinese: 夫子庙; literally: 'Confucian Temple'), is located in southern Nanjing City on banks of the Qinhuai River.
In first year of Jianwu reign of Jin Dynasty (CE 317), Nanking Imperial University was founded, initially on northern bank of Qinhuai River, and in the 3rd year of Xiankang (CE 337) the campus extended to southern bank. Temple of Confucius was firstly constructed in the national school in the 9th year of Taiyuan (CE 384). The place was later destroyed. In the 1st year of Jingyou during Song Dynasty (CE 1034), Confucius Temple was newly constructed on former site of imperial university, and was called Fuzimiao area along with Nanking Fuxue. The place became Imperial University again in 1365 in the early year of Ming Dynasty, and sixteen years later recovered to be the campus of Fuxue. During Qing Dynasty, there were two Xianxue (county schools of Shangyuan and Jiangning) in Fuzimiao area. In the end of Qing a primary school jointly sponsored by counties of Nanjing (Jiangning Fu) was established there. The current buildings date from the 19th century, in Qing Dynasty, with additions made since then. The temple lost all financial support by the state as a result of the revolution of 1911. During the late 1920s to 1931 and again in 1932 it was used as army barracks for troops the KMT regime and left in a dilapidated state. Some halls were used as picture gallery. In 1985 Fuzimiao area was restored.
There is Jiangnan Gongyuan near Fuzimiao Temple. It's the largest imperial examination hall in Ming and Qing dynasties.
Throughout its history, the temple along with the around area has been a place for study of Confucianism. There is a small exhibit of folkart within the temple.
