Bom Jesus CONGONHAS Brazil
The wish of a Portuguese immigrant who had been miraculously cured of a crippling infirmity was the impetus for the construction of one of Christian art's most amazing groupings of monuments.

1. Don't expect to get anywhere quickly in Sao Paulo. With so many people, cars and craziness it will take you longer than what google says it will to get anywhere.
2. Don't skip the Mercado Municipal! This Sao Paulo tradition is amazing. From amazing fruit to the best bologna or sorry Mortadella sandwich you ever ate.
3. Don't skip out on eating non-Brazilian food while in Sao Paulo. There are tons of amazing places, foods, restaurants and styles for you to enjoy!
4. Don't lose your wits. Pay attention! Sao Paulo has a reputation for crime for a reason.
5. Don't expect a beach vacation. Sao Paulo is not a Brazilian beach city, it is a cultural, shopping, museum, business hub for South America.

Congonhas - cidades históricas de Minas
fotos do passeio em cidades históricas de Minas Gerais: Tiradentes, Ouro Preto, Congonhas e São João Del Rey - com passeio de trem turístico.
======

Minas Gerais was formed mainly by colonists who searched for veins of gold (discovered 1693) and gems, and later diamonds which come from the naturally occurring itacolumite rock that can be found in great numbers in the region. These helped to boost occupation of the inner lands and led to the foundation of several new villages. In 1697, the Portuguese used enslaved African labor to start building the Estrada Real, the royal road, that would connect the ports of cities of Rio de Janeiro and Paraty to the mineral-rich regions of Ouro Preto, Serro, and, at the northernmost point, Diamantina.[2] The first capital and seat of the local see was the city of Mariana; it was later moved to Vila Rica. In the late 18th century, Vila Rica was the largest city in Brazil and one of the most populous in America. As the gold mines were exhausted over the 19th century, the city lost its importance; it was later renamed Ouro Preto and remained the state capital until the construction of the all-new, planned city of Belo Horizonte at the turn of the 20th century. The gold cycle left its mark in cities such as Mariana, Ouro Preto, Diamantina, Sabará, Tiradentes and São João del Rei. The relative isolation from European influence, added to the huge influx of gold and other valuable minerals, helped the local people to develop their own style of art, which became known as Barroco Mineiro. Prime examples of this period are the richly decorated churches at the colonial cities, some of them preserved today as museums. The most important artist of this period was Antônio Lisboa, who became known as Aleijadinho. His statues and paintings are now highly valued by experts as one of the most refined artistic expressions outside Europe at that time. In addition to art and architecture, there was an explosion of musical activity in Minas Gerais in the 18th century.

Vamos conhecer a cidade e o Morro do Cristo.

New York Vs São Paulo- São Paulo: Brasil's Answer to New York-FULL HD
All eyes may be on Rio de Janeiro's carnival this week but another Brazilian city -- Sao Paulo -- can easily compete as Brazil's party capital. It's the city that never sleeps, the concrete jungle, a fast, furious corner of the tropics that is not all that it seems at first sight. It's the economic powerhouse of Brazil -- and it even beats Rio de Janeiro as the country's cultural center.
While Sao Paulo has no beaches or any of the breathtaking scenery that define Rio as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it more than makes up in other ways. It features world-class restaurants, museums, theatres and boutiques. It is only a couple of hours away from lush, tropical beaches fringed by Atlantic rainforest.
If you are a business traveller to Brazil, Sao Paulo -- the country's economic capital -- is more than likely to be part of your itinerary than Rio. It is one of South America's largest and most vibrant cities, so there'll be much to explore there.
There are many apartment services to chose from. The apartments are clean, comfortable and sometimes cheaper to stay at than hotels. The Jardins area of the city is always a good bet, with many good self-service rooms for the travelling executive. It is also a secure part of the city.
There are also hotels aplenty, from the opulent Renaissance to the trendy Fasano, which boasts one of the best bars and restaurants in the city and is an architectural gem.
Where To Eat
Sao Paulo is a place of gastronomic delights. The city is powered by an ethnically diverse group of peoples, all of whom have left their mark on the city.
Sao Paulo is home, for example, to nearly half a million people of Japanese descent -- the largest community outside of Japan -- and you'll find sushi bars in most neighborhoods.
The best place for Japanese food is the area known as Liberdade, Sao Paulo's 'Little Japan.' You can head out to the Moema or Vila Olimpia, the location of the famous Nakombi restaurant. It offers traditional private rooms for you and your clients.
Sao Paulo also boasts good Italian restaurants. Try as Appolinari on Rua Oscar Freire, or La Buca Romana on Avenida Paulista. For more traditional fare, head to the famous Familia Mancini downtown, which is where the hub of the city's theatre crowd will gather for a post-performance supper.
The city's large Syrian and Lebanese communities also mean that Middle Eastern food is easily to be found. Try Arabia, located in the Jardins district. The food here is just as good as any to be found in Beirut
What To Do
Take a walk in the park in Sao Paulo. The Ibirapuera Park is the city's largest urban park and is frequented by joggers and sightseers who come to look at the exhibitions in the pavilions and museums, including the Museum of Contemporary Art.
The Sao Paulo Museum of Art is an absolute must. Located on the Avenida Paulista, this striking museum, designed by the renowned Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi, is a wonderful place from which to view the city. It's built on stilts so visitors can take in a breathtaking view of downtown Sao Paulo. The museum is a pioneering center for post-war Brazilian art.
There is also the Pinacoteca art museum, located near the Luz railway station downtown. This turn-of-the-century building was converted from a railway terminal and now exhibits an impressive collection of Brazilian art.
Soccer -- or Futebol in Portugese -- is the country's unofficial religion and Sao Paulo is home to such teams as the Corinthians and the Sao Paulo FC. But a word of warning: the crowd can get rough. Rio, for all its splendor, is also a city with widespread poverty. There are great places to go, but there are also slums and street crime.
Despite that, Sao Paulo's nightlife cannot be beaten anywhere else in the country, as even the most ardent lover of Rio regretfully admits. Whether it's theatre or live shows or simply hanging out, Sao Paulo's diversity and cosmopolitan vibe means there is something for everyone. For clubs and hangout joints, Rua Augusta and Rua da Consolacao have plenty of clubs and bars to while away the night.
For a relaxed evening, head to Vila Madalena, a neighborhood that has galleries, bars and some of the most beautiful restaurants in town.
If you want a slice of history, then head to the Brahma Bar on Avenida Sao Joao. It's a traditional Brazilian pub which serves some of the best beer to be found in the city. It is in the middle of the bustling downtown area, with plenty of tables outside for people-watching. It was also THE place for writers, poets and intellectuals to congregate over a choppe -- the famous Brazilian ice cold beer -- on many an evening. For the full Sao Paulo experience, go on a Thursday or Sunday, when a samba band plays live.
As Marlene Dietrich once said, Rio is a beauty but Sao Paulo… Sao Paulo is a city.
Sao Paulo Travel Guide - The Charm of Brazil
Sao Paulo Travel Guide - The Charm of Brazil
São Paulo is the largest city in Brazil, with a city population of about 12 million and almost 22 million in its metropolitan region. It is the capital of the Southeastern state of São Paulo, and also a beehive of activity that offers a jovial nightlife and an intense cultural experience. São Paulo is one of the richest cities in the southern hemisphere, though inequality between the classes typically observed in Brazil is blatant. Historically attractive to immigrants as well as (somewhat later) Brazilians from other states, it's one of the most diverse cities in the world.
Just south of the city lies the Parque Estadual Serra do Mar (part of the Atlantic Forest South-East Reserves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site), a mountain range covered by exhuberant rainforest that faces the coast and provides various ecotourism options. Following São Paulo's extraordinary growth during the 20th century, most of the old city buildings have given way to contemporary architecture. This means that most historical buildings are concentrated downtown, where 17th-century churches stand in the shadows of skyscrapers. The best of São Paulo's gastronomy, nightlife, and museums are concentrated in the historic downtown and neighboring areas to the west. Consequently, this is where most visitors to the city tend to stay. Those who are adventurous enough to venture beyond these areas may discover a completely different São Paulo, including areas of preserved natural beauty, affluent suburban neighborhoods, as well as more dangerous and impoverished districts.
Downtown
The birthplace of the city, with many historical areas, cultural centers, and a universe of diverse people rushing to work or to school.
West
Home to the government of the state of São Paulo, it is probably the most vibrant area of the city for business, science, gastronomy, nightlife and culture.
South Central
The wealthiest region of the city contains Parque do Ibirapuera, one of the most important recreational and cultural areas of São Paulo, and inumerous shopping malls.
Southeast
Home to hundreds of thousands of immigrants who settled in the city, that is where Museu do Ipiranga, the São Paulo Zoo and other attractions are located.
Northeast
The Northeast is São Paulo's event arena, where the annual Carnival and and many other large scale events take place. Part of the magnificent Parque da Cantareira is also here.
Far South
The largest region of São Paulo is still have some parts covered by forest, farms and water, and can offer many unique experiences to a visitor.
Far East
São Paulo's City of Workers contains two of the most beautiful parks of the city, and was the host of the FIFA 2014 World Cup in the city.
Northwest
The Northwest is a more suburban area which is home to Parque Estadual do Jaraguá, where the highest point of the city is located.
The Bilhete Único is a transport smartcard that is used for paying fares on buses, subways, and trains. In essence, a single billing of the card grants a person up to four trips in São Paulo's public transportation system with free transfers between the subway system and buses within 3 hours.

Planning a trip to São Paulo, Brazil? Learn about the top seven places to visit and what makes them special in this travel video.
São Paulo is Brazil’s cosmopolitan center and you can see the city’s cultural wealth in its many museums.
The São Paulo Art Museum is known for having one of the best collections of European art south of the Equator.
Another important museum is the Pinacotheca of the State. This is the place to see Brazilian art, from 19th-century to contemporary works.
São Paulo is also home to a variety of impressive architecture, both old and new. At over 500 feet, the Italy Building offers a stunning view of São Paulo. There’s also the Martinelli Building, the first skyscraper built in Brazil. And, the Copan Building -- which is not only one of the city’s biggest buildings, but also one of the most uniquely designed.
Foodies should pay a visit to the historic Municipal Market. Both the stained glass windows and the variety of fresh produce make this market vibrant and colorful. It’s also a great place to try local dishes.
Then head out for some fresh air in one of São Paulo’s parks. The Botanical Garden contains hundreds of species of Brazilian plants and is home to over a hundred different species of birds.
Both indoors and out, São Paulo is packed with things to do and see.
São Paulo - Brazil (people in the streets)
If you want to explore a monster of a foreign city, check out Sao Paulo – with over 20 million residents, it’s the third largest metropolis on earth! The city is known for its food, markets, architecture, and museums – not to mention it’s pulsing nightlife. The city is spread out so it’s hard to stay in just one area to do all you want, but Sao Paulo boasts 30 kilometers of car-free bike paths to make getting around a little easier. Hundreds of different ethnic groups call Sao Paulo home, including the largest Japanese population outside of Japan, so you’ll have no problem finding a variety of cultures to explore to enrich your time in the city. Regardless of your interests, make sure you visit a few of the city’s 150 museums and cultural centers, 420 experimental theaters, and 12,500 (yes, really!) restaurants that serve over 52 different cuisines. Oh, and the nightlife I mentioned? There are over 15,000 places! The city stays awake around the clock, so you’ll certainly find things to do.
