1000 Jahre Leipzig - 850 Jahre Leipziger Messen
Im Jahr 2015 feiert die Stadt Leipzig „1000 Jahre Ersterwähnung“. In einer fünfteiligen Serie stellt die Leipzig Tourismus und Marketing GmbH einzelne Jubilare vor, die eine große Bedeutung für Geschichte und Selbstverständnis der Stadt haben.
Ein zentraler Identifikationspunkt Leipzigs ist Messe; daher ist natürlich auch das Jubiläum „850 Jahre Leipziger Messen“ 2015 ein wichtiges Thema. Im dritten Teil der Serie kommen der Geschäftsführer der Leipziger Messe GmbH, Martin Buhl-Wagner sowie André Kaldenhoff, Leiter des Congress Center Leipzig zu Wort. Außerdem können Sie einen Blick in die wiedereröffnete Kongresshalle am Zoo werfen. Volker Bremer, Geschäftsführer der Leipzig Tourismus und Marketing GmbH, erläutert, warum das Leipziger Passagensystem damals wie heute einen großen Reiz ausübt – nicht nur zum Passagenfest, das jedes Jahr am ersten Freitag im September stattfindet.

Leipziger Messe aus der Luft - WorldSkills Leipzig 2013
Leipzig gilt als Mutter aller Messen und hatte 1710 sogar die Reichsmesse in Frankfurt überrundet. Im April 1996 begann mit der Eröffnung eines hochmodernen Ausstellungs- und Kongresszentrums, entworfen vom Architekturbüro von Gerkan, Marg und Partner, die jüngste Etappe in Leipzigs Messegeschichte. Es gilt als eines der schönsten Messegelände Europas. Ein Blickfang ist die imposante Eingangshalle des englischen Stararchitekten Ian Richie mit einer Kuppel aus 20.000 qm Glas. Das Video entstand während der WorldSkills Leipzig 2013.

In April 1996 the youngest step of the Leipzig trade history began - the opening of the modern exhibition and congress center, created by the architect´s office of Gerkan. Marg and co. One of the most impressive eye-catcher is the imposing main entrance hall with a dome of 20 000 square meter glas created by the famous English architect Ian Richie. My sister and I were invited my Houston Rotary District 5890 to document the 20th Anniversary of the Monday Marches that began in Leipzig, Germany. These marches lead to the fall of Berlin Wall and the unification of Germany. I got so much amazing footage, I created this short trailer before I begin the large project.
