Residents of communities on the New South Wales South Coast are trying to assess the damage caused by the bushfire crisis.
The tiny town of Conjola Park lost dozens of homes and vehicles.
A man also lost his life in the area. His body found in a burnt-out car near Lake Conjola, just off the Princes Highway.

Early assessments show hundreds of properties have been lost in New Year's Eve bushfires on the NSW South Coast.
Particularly hard hit was the community of Conjola Park.
The Currowan fire tore through the tiny town leaving a path of smouldering destruction in its wake.

Raging Australian wildfires force residents to water's edge
Wildfires burning across Australia's two most-populous states Tuesday trapped residents of a seaside town in apocalyptic conditions and destroyed many properties. On the New South Wales south coast, fire was seen moving toward the Princes Highway, a road linking Sydney and Melbourne. Thick smoke from fires in the region plunged some towns into near darkness. Some residents fled to lakes and beaches to escape the fire threat.

Seven people are now confirmed dead, and two unaccounted for, in New South Wales' worst ever bushfire crisis. The NSW Rural Fire Service has announced plans for a massive operation to try to get potentially tens of thousands of tourists out of the south coast.

South Coast Fires: 382 homes were destroyed on New Year's Eve during the fire emergency.
A total of 1,298 homes have been destroyed across New South Wales this fire season.
The total death toll for the NSW fire season is 18.
Today there are 110 fires burning across NSW - Over 50 fires are yet to be contained.

A series of bushfires have encircled residents and holidaymakers on the New South Wales south coast, where two people have been confirmed dead and one missing, homes have been destroyed and mass evacuations are in place in several towns

Residents of Lake Conjola are finally beginning to take stock of the devastation last week's bushfires caused their town.
Conjola Park residents return to survey the damage after bushfire | 7.30
The NSW community of Conjola Park was devastated on New Year's Eve. More than 50 properties were lost and many residents are now returning to survey the damage.
For some, the heartbreak of losing their home has been made worse by the realisation they weren't insured.

Buildings destroyed as out-of-control NSW bushfire races towards beach communities | ABC News
A bushfire burning out of control on the New South Wales South Coast has destroyed at least one home and shut off escape routes for residents in nearby coastal communities.
The fire, north of Batemans Bay at Currowan, which is subject to an emergency warning, crossed the Princes Highway into Murramarang National Park on Monday, bolstered by strong westerly winds.
The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) said one house on the Clyde River, as well as other structures, were destroyed in the afternoon but no further details were available.
