Ramla Bay or Ramla l-Hamra, is located at the bottom of a rich and fertile valley just beneath the village of Xaghra. Ramla Bay has a splendid stretch of orange sand with blue waters. Beach facilities include cafés, water sports and sunshades are available on the beach.
Romans Remains:
A 19-room Roman Villa-Bathhouse were discovered beneath the sands. 1910, Dr Temi Zammit led the excavations. The remains were covered in 1915 to protect from posterity. The artifacts and site plans are displayed at the Archeology Museum.
Calypso Caves
According to Homer in The Odyssey, the nymph Calypso lived in this cave and it is where she entertained Ulysses for 7 years before he resumed his journey.
Ramla Batteries & Redoubts:
Between 1715-1716, the Knights of St John began building a series of fortifications to guard the bay to prevent the invaders and pirates from disembarking at ease. The plans were further developed by the French military architect
Underwater Obstruction: In 1723 century, the Knights built the underwater walls to obstruct the entrance of vessels from the enemy into the bays.
Ramla Fougasse
Built by the Knights, the fougasse is a rock-cut cannon with the axles pointing at the probable route that the enemy would take. It is charged with a barrel of gunpowder and loaded them with rocks. It is to discharge a shower of stone to damage the enemy galleys.
Nadur Ta Kenuna
The Kenuna Tower was built in 1848 by the British and served as a telegraph link between Malta and Gozo. From Ta Kenuna, it offers most beautiful panoramic views of the fields, Comino Island and Malta.
My Choice - Touring Nadur, Gozo: Cobos & Strauss
A tour of one of Gozo's Villages - NADUR while enjoying 2 beautiful selections:
1. La leyenda del beso - by Luis Cobos
2. Dame of Danube Waltz op. 427 - by Johann Strauss
Photos by Choy Hong (Jasmine) Grech except as noted.
Nadur is situated on the easternmost hill of the small island of Gozo, Malta's sister-island. Nadur, a lofty, lookout plateau, has a population of around 4,000 people which makes Nadur one of the largest localities in Gozo.
One can still find a many farmers and seafarers. Quantities of fresh fruit like apples, peaches, pears, plums, oranges, lemon and melons from the fields of Nadur are distributed around all Malta and Gozo. Along Nadur's coastline one can see the peaceful bays of San Blas, Dahlet Qorrot and Ramla.
Ta' Sopu Tower lies half way through Dahlet Qorrot and San Blas. As the village motto has it, Nadur is in itself a watch house for the island. The Nadurin were watchful sentries who could spot danger in time and call the alarm. There is another tower known as Kenuna Tower. This was built in 1848, and served as a telegraph link between Malta and Gozo and not as a fort. Recently Kenuna tower was completely restored and is now serving for communication purposes.
The new Maltese Garden at Kenuna makes this area a must-see for all visitors. From here one can enjoy one of the most magnificent views in the Maltese Islands.

Winter is coming
and that's how winter looks like.
Here comes my second vlog.
I hope you understood vlogging is all about
because I didn't.
The problem is that
you're set out with an idea
and you think, this vlog is going to be
all about the coast of Gozo and then...
I've been told by some friends that there are some amazing waves up in the Nortern Coast
so, let's go and check them
Last month we had an amazing thunderstorm
there were so many lightning, just one after the other
it was incredible.
This is how the bay of Marsalforn looks on a rough day.
That was not clever, I got soaked.
You got wet again.
This time you need to wash the clothes, they're yours.
For our Sunday walk we decided to walk on the North-Eastern part of the island.
... another one.
What did we learn about the sea today?
It makes papa's clothes wet.
It can be very angry, very strong and very dangerous.
Time to get ready for Halloween.
Off to Abi's Halloween's Party.
Ohhh, what is that? AHHHHH
Why is pink called pink and not light red?
Because you have light blue, light green, pale yellow,
You see, it could have pale pink
but it's not that really light red?
Yes, why isn't it not called light red or really light red, or a shade of red
we do shades of red.
Ahhh, but I've got one then
See, you've got black, but it black was mixed with white
it become gray, that has its own name
not pale grey,
no pale black,
There you go!
Question of the week!

Ferry from Malta to Gozo and driving to Victoria.
The Gozo ferry is a fast and efficient service between the two main islands of Malta. You only pay for the ride once you come back from Gozo. After the ferry ride we drive on to the main city on the island, Victoria.

Trascription:
The to ur of the island had started.
Failure and success were well out of sight
and so was the end of my trip.
15 days away to the East ...
and then to the North and West a little in the middle
and back to where I was starting from.
To me this was uncharted territory!
okay, who am I kidding!?
I knew almost every stone of the places I was about to visit
but as Marcel Proust once wrote
the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes
but in having new eyes
and this journey was all about having new eyes!
I'm on the balcony of the Glenneagles bar which is arguable ....
I'm on the the balcony of
the Gleneagles bar which is arguably one of the nicest ...
The port of Mgarr is the gateway to Gozo
unless you decide to swim it over
you definitely have to come through this port
when there is a rough sea coming from the west
the ferry takes a route around the island of Comino,
which takes a little bit longer.
This boat behind me is a Luzzu, which is a typical Maltese boat
tapered on both ends ...
it's not just the colours that make the luzzu, it has to have the shape.
The eyes of the Luzzu are for protection.
The port of Mgarr sees the crossing of roughly
1 459 114 cars each year
and though the number seems much bigger than the naked eye can perceive,
well I'm not particularly fond of cars so I decided to move to more remote areas
but before that ...
I was taking a time-lapse of the building behind me
when a man approached me
and told me the history of it
The building I was looking at
had once been the hotel Oceana,
a hotel with a less than immaculate reputation.
This boat behind me is called Ghdajsa tal-Latini.
ghdajsa is the Maltese word for boat.
The plan is ... I'm gonna camp in Hondoq
that means that I have to get there before it gets dark
which is not too long to go
I have about half an hour of time
I need to get there and set tent

Message of Our Lady 29/02/12 given at Borg in Nadur Malta
(P374) Message of 29th February 2012, given at Borg in-Nadur
My dear children and my children -- the ones of my heart!
Once again! Indeed, I tell you, my children, start up prayer in your families once again and all of you meet up and pray together. My children, prayer unifies you. My children, open up your hearts. Open them up once again to prayer. My Son Jesus is listening to you. Yes, he is listening to you, my children. Once again I say: come to prayer as a family. All in the family come together that your prayer may rise up -- for me and my Son Jesus to receive it into our hearts.
The blowing wind or storm will cause no harm. Satan's attempts to steal into the situation will be ineffective -- since prayer opposes him. My children, listen to this: whenever Church communities and families abandon prayer, Satan enters without anyone noticing. He then corrupts whatever had been growing well.
My children, and my own little children, look at prayer as you do your daily bread. You do not survive without bread; without nourishment you do not survive -- nor without prayer. My children, once again: join in prayer as one family. During this holy Lenten period, come together for prayer, especially the prayer of the rosary. Say the rosary.
Thank you for having listened to my call.

It's story time
welcome to Fed's World I
just lost the drone suddenly the wind
was too strong the battery drained, trying to
come back and it decided to land and
want to land it yeah well I couldn't do
anything any more. I know I'm late I was supposed
to come out of the vlog a few days ago
but somehow things never go according to
plan and eventually I'm late
the past week was an itensive and a
tiring one and while the Prime Minister
was about to call snap elections the
football teams of nadur and Xewkija faced
each other for the league title and and
Abi &Emma were painting a 25 metre long
gold in the waste recycling facility
timelapsing is really hard, you have to press the button
wait for people to work and
press the button again and take the
camera, exhausting!
I was getting ready to participate in
the Gozo Half Marathon
And ... as in sports, the important is not to win but to
participate, I decided I was going to
come first and possibly smash the
previous record of one hour
11 minutes and 40 seconds set by
Charles Cilia in 2006.
to travel the
distance of 13 miles which is twenty
point nine two one kilometers in one hour
11 minutes and 40 seconds which makes it
17.5 km/h
I knew I could reach that
speed with my motorbike
so why not add foot? and you think the logic
doesn't hold, well you have never seen me
speed walking through the streets of Victoria
As the name suggests the Gozo
half marathon, which is Island sporting
event of the year passes through most of
the island ... but as the name does not say
it starts from the village of Xaghra and
returned back to the same square where
it all started from.
Besides the half marathon
there were the eight miles, the
four miles and the 2k run.
but let's talk about the pros
well, here we are and
this was the man I had to beat! Charlton Debono
sportsman of the year. The winner of
pretty much all national running
competition of the distances between
1500 meters and the half marathon.
I started my race as fast as I could.
Now, a good athlete would normally start
slow gradually speed up and give all in
the last two miles. This is called
negative spills.
An even better athlete might try
to run at a steady, even pace for the
entire distance of the race. But I was
neither of the two,l so as loudspeakers
declared the start of the race I sped as
fast as I could and soon found myself
completely alone ahead of all other runners.
One of the cutest traditions of the
Maltese culture is called il-quċċija
and it's written like this! On the occasion
of a child's first birthday many objects
are positioned in front of the child
each object represents a different
profession or lifestyle. The first object
picked by the child is supposed to
predict the baby's future career or lifestyle.
Oh, he's looking at the lipstick
A doctor!!
In my case, though for obvious reasons I
cannot remember, I must have gone for a
medal!
Boris, can you tell me where Charlton is?
You have 5 minutes lead!
thank you
thank you
21 k
Oh
and that's the story of how I won the
half Marathon of Gozo. But Papa you didn't
didn't even participate and you can't even
beat me! you ran the fun race!
thank you for watching Fed's World and don't
forget to Like and subscribe and bye bye

Apparition of Our Lady 18/04/12 at Borg in Nadur Malta Pt2
Message of Our Lady 11/04/12 at Borg in Nadur
Message of Our Lady 14/04/12 at Xewkija Gozo
(P382) Message of 11th April 2012, Borg in-Nadur
My children, my request is that you pray. Pray for peace: in the family and in the whole world. Indeed, I tell you once more: pray for peace.
Satan wants to destroy everything. He wants to eradicate wherever unity and peace are to be found. Indeed, my children, he intends to destroy all that is good. Do not allow him to do this, my children! You know full well by what means you are to defend yourselves. By a simple means: the prayer of the rosary. Indeed, my children, Satan wants to destroy all that is good in the world. He wants to take all under his rule. I, on the other hand, am taking good care of you, my children, lest this take place. As to you, only pray. Pray by means of the rosary. Do not allow him to confuse you or blind you by means of other things that draw you away from my Son Jesus and from me. My children, indeed, I know what I am talking about.
Satan wants to break up what has been built on this hill of Borg in-Nadur. I tell you once more, my children and my own little children, come up here in large numbers. Come along. Come here to pray the rosary. My Son Jesus is sending me here purposely for you -- that I may bring unity among you and gather you up once more.
Thank you for having listened to my call.
(P383) Message of 14th April 2012, Ghajn Zebbuga, Xewkija, Gozo
My dear children and my children -- the ones of my heart!
My children, today I speak to you once more about peace: peace in the family; peace in all countries; but in a special way, peace in Malta and Gozo. I ask you, my children and my own little children: work and pray, pray, pray that there be peace in Malta and in the world. Indeed, my children, many try to work for peace, yet peace is not come by through roundtable meetings. My children, wherever peace enters there is happiness found. Happiness itself brings peace -- in the heart, within families and in every country. Give a look around you and observe all the fighting, the wars, the suicide attacks, the hatred, the greed. What of these, my children? These are not peace. Such realities dislodge you from peace and distance you from it.
And so, my children, be my ambassadors -- who bring peace to others. It is my heartfelt plea to you: say the rosary and get others to say the rosary. Peace will then reign.
Thank you for having listened to my call.

Visit maltadirect.com to book your dream Malta holiday or call our travel experts today on our FREEPHONE 0808 102 1538!
Gozo is an inviting holiday destination, rich in cultural traditions, surrounded by ancient myths and stories of modern-day miracles. There is a varied choice of Gozo accommodation, and when you stay at any local Gozo hotel or holiday villa, you can be sure of a warm welcome from the famously hospitable residents. Legend has it that Gozo was the basis for Ogygia, the island where the nymph Calypso bewitched the Homeric hero Ulysses for seven years. Enjoy a holiday in Gozo and you'll find out just how spellbinding the island can be - in fact, seven years will hardly seem like enough time to explore all the attractions surrounding your Gozo holiday accommodation! Life on Gozo is more restful and rural than on the neighbouring isle of Malta, and many visitors find a Gozo holiday makes an enchanting retreat. The green hills of Gozo stretch from coast to coast on this lush island, and the clear, warm waters offer exceptional Malta diving opportunities for holidaymakers, or wonderful picture postcard views from resorts such as Mgarr. Don't be fooled by the island's laid-back lifestyle though - Gozo holidays offer no shortage of vibrant late-night entertainment! Maltese Carnival Week attracts many visitors from Malta to Gozo, particularly to the village of Nadur. Cheap holiday accommodation on Gozo is often scarce during the March carnival, as crowds of costumed revellers celebrate this colourful cultural event; tourists and locals alike will fill up the holiday apartments and villas of Gozo in order to join in the festivities! Village feasts honouring patron saints are also an important Gozo tradition, and you're likely to experience a celebration like this during a Gozo summer holiday in one of our resorts such as San Lawrenz and Xaghra, as villagers celebrate with fireworks and live music. From luxury 5 star hotels to cheap self catering accommodation, you can be sure of finding the perfect spot to spend your getaway when you contact Malta Direct about our Gozo package holidays.
Comino is a jewel of an island situated between Malta and Gozo; the discerning few who choose to stay on Comino can expect to enjoy a truly luxurious holiday experience, swimming in Comino's iridescent blue waters or indulging in lazy days on the sandy beach. The famous Blue Lagoon of Comino, with its white sands and diverse marine life, is a haven for snorkellers and divers. In fact, some say Comino's Blue Lagoon is the best Malta diving site in the Mediterranean! One of Comino's most famous landmarks is St. Mary's Tower, which dates back to 1416, and was restored between 2002 and 2004. The historic watch tower is the island's most notable structure; tourists from hotels and bungalows around Comino visit this site to take in the spectacular views. Comino is also a bird sanctuary and nature reserve.
With over 40 years experience you can trust that Malta Direct is committed to taking care of your every need, from enquiry stage right through to your return home.
Malta Motorcycle Adventure Part 3 - Gozo lanes, a beach and a cat
Join Klausnikski and DR-Z Mike as they undertake their first international motorcycle adventure. We swap the cold March Peak District for the sights and roads of Malta. In this third part we explore some of the lanes around the North coast of Gozo and find a small beach down a steep hill. Finally back to the ferry to conclude day one.

MALTA: Gozo - Bethlehem in Ghajnsielem (Spirit of Christmas)
We recently visited the beautiful island of Gozo and amongst others, we went to see Bethlehem in Ghajnsielem and were very impressed by what we saw and we'd like to share these photos and videos with you all.
Bethlehem in Ghajnsielem is a large living crib spanning 20,000 sq meters of fields and buildings bringing the timeless Christmas story to life as never before. The atmosphere was simply unique. The area has been changed into a large living crib, where horses turn mills, villagers go about their jobs, shepherds inhabit caves, animals roam in enclosed spaces and a poor unknown couple tend their newly-born in a grotto.
This is the 2nd edition of Bethlehem in Ghajnsielem. In 2008, it attracted over 60,000 visitors.
The event is sponsored by the Ghajnsielem Local Council and managed by Mr Franco Ciangura who is assisted by several volunteers from leading village organizations. This year's edition builds on what was achieved last year. It's worth visiting. Prosit Franco and volunteers.
Feliz Navidad and Long time ago in Bethlehem are played by Ron Crandlemere of Alberta, Canada.

Welcome to Fed's World, it's story time!
This is Percy he's a six weeks old kitten who's partly tiger and partly chipmunk his biggest passion is the climb onto legs and sofas and shoes and cling there or pounce in an attack.
He was born somewhere the backstreets of Xewkija
a village that take it's name from the Maltese word xewk which means thistle or thorn but is mostly renowned for its massive church, which with a 75 meters high and 20 meters high dome, is the third larges unsupported dome in Europe just behind San Peter's church in Rome and Saint Paul's cathedral in London
A church so big that it could easily, well maybe not too easily, fit all the 3300
inhabitants of the village.
Now, for whom might have absolutely no idea where on this planet Xewkija might be, well, here it is, in the island of Gozo, Malta
which is in the Mediterranean sea just between Italy and Africa in the southern tip of Europe
but this VLOG is not about Xewkija and Percy it's not yet part of
our story ... so let's leave him a moment aside
This is Patch. Patch is an 11-year-old
female tal-Madonna cat her hobbies are sleeping and bathing on the roof.
She was born about 2km away from Xewkija the tiny alley in the
highlands of Xaghra, in the area known as Ta' Nazzarenu, I know this, because I was there.
Patch was born just around here in a building a little bit up the road with an amazing view of Ramla. She was just a cute little, kitten ... this big. She used to
come in the office and eventually sleep on the desk. One day, it was winter, it had been been raining for quite a few days, she came in all wet trembling. The vet said she had a very small chance of survival but guess what ... she survived and she's been living with us ever since ... but now something new she doesn't know about
I am off on a secret mission. Jonathan's sixth birthday is coming soon and he's been asking for a kitten. We do have a cat already and out cat is the most wonderful and sweet cat we could ever think of but there is something special about growing up with a kitten
Patch's reaction to the new arrival was somehow different
It's a very good match, I am really enjoying it.
it's the first team in the league against the third team in the league
I picked the noisiest square.
Anyway cats are territorial and sometimes people behave
exactly like cats. We are comfortable with what we know and when something or someone new suddenly invades out territory, we feel uncomfortable just like cats
we need time to assess the situation, to make sure that our life will not be disrupted, to trust, accept and go on.
what do you do? You are making videos I saw you
Anyway , thank you for following me
and I'll update you on the situation about Patch and Percy in the coming weeks, in the meantime don't forget to Like and subscribe to my channel!
