Connemara National Park. The beautiful scenery of Ireland in 4K
The 12 Pines Island, on Derryclare Lough. Part of the Connemara National Park, County Galway, Ireland. Filmed on a sunny autumn day this year.
There is certainly more than 12 Pine Trees on the picturesque Island today. Maybe when the nearby town of Clifden was established in the 1820's, there were only 12 pine trees on the islet.
Film scenes captured using a DJI Phantom 4 Pro, with Polarising filter from PhantomFilters.com. Video edited in iMovie.
I'm looking to improve my films, so constructive advice is welcome.

Connemara, Galway, Ireland - Ireland Vacation in Galway
Connemara, Galway is the new destination to head for and this video is all about walking through the area, getting introduced to the different shops and restaurants which are located there and at the same time visiting some of the parks which are located there. We stayed in Clifden town in Galway - which is in the centre of Connemara.
Connemara is a cultural region in county Galway, Ireland and the most famous town in it is Clifden which is always referred to as the capital of Connemara for its size ( This area - Connemara - consists of west Galway, which is the part of the county west of Lough Corrib, contained by Killary Harbour, Galway Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean.
After saying goodbye to the apartment which we took in Connemara in order to enjoy the vacation we have been on, we went through the streets of the town and came across some of the places which we found suggested by those who have been there before, such as the Connemara Heritage and History Centre which is placed in Clifden, the Marconi Station in Clifden where the Alcock and Brown landing site is also located, there is the Clifden Castle, the Aughnanure Castle which is found in Oughterard, and other places which you could visit according to the place you are going to be staying at and which is close to you.
While walking through these different shops, we entered some and one of them got the attention of the kids who kept walking through the toys and even chose to buy a toy instead of getting ice cream - which was a tough decision to take but they eventually made their minds - adults were the ones to choose ice cream at that point and leave the kids for the toys.
We then moved forward with the trip to reach the national park in which we walked there, got inside the visitor centre and were introduced to all the different information that were written inside there and which were shown to us through different ways, like pictures and real examples and where we also got the chance to know more about the old stories of the witches and fairies. It was really interesting inside this visitor centre for the kids who were receiving different information in a more interesting and well-informing way.
Completing the journey we have started in Connemara, we then moved forward to reach all those other nature destinations which we fell in love with and loved the way we managed to take videos of - drone - before we headed to the next and final place which we were going to visit - the most important thing to mention here is the views which one will get while driving from one place to the other; we were enjoying the visit from every single possible angle.
The second park we visited during our trip to Connemara was more of climbing a hill to reach the top and see what it has to offer us. This was also interesting since one of the most famous things known about Connemara is its marble stone, which we managed to get across some on our walk through this hill. The whole thing was different and even the views we managed to collect on this trip were all very natural - we will never get over the photos we have taken and those videos we also brought back home with us.
There are lots of things which we discovered about Connemara, such as the fact that it carries some linguistics traditions as being one of the largest Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking) regions that locals use on a daily basis. This will be interesting for those who want to learn this language or even want just to see how people are dealing with it - it is not that easy though. It is not just about the language which the people of Connemara are using, but there are actually lots of differences found in this region which are related to history as well as to their musical interests.
Tourists or visitors to the place - just like us - might not have that much time to learn a language, but they could enjoy listening to the way people talk and deal with one another and they will also get the chance to enjoy getting introduced to those different tastes in music and any other thing - and that's of course after passing by the cultural places and those historical destinations related to the touristic experience which they will be coming in the first place in order to have and know more about.
Since Connemara is part of Galway, it is important to mention that there are different other places which we have been to in Galway before, such as being to the Oranmore Castle ( being to Turoe Pet Farm which was more interesting for the kids ( as well as those beautiful scenes we got the chance to see on the road to Galway ( which was one of our favorite.
Have you ever visited Connemara before? What did you visit there and what is the one place you liked the most? Tell us more!
DAY TOUR to Connemara National Park!!
Decided last minute to take a day tour around Connemara. This is a region north of Galway! While i enjoyed the tour as a whole, i was a bit disappointed about how long you spend in a bus driving around. There was not as many stops as i thought. 20 min at the first place and only about 5 or 6 minutes at the next 2 for photos. the major part was spending 2 hours in the Connemara National Park which we spent climbing Diamond Hill (445m high!) I would maybe suggest renting a car and driving to this park to experience it on your own. tour is worth it though if you don't really want to drive, like me!
Connemara National Park & Visitor Centre in Galway, Ireland
Connemara National Park occupies nearly 3000 hectares and is located in the very western part of County Galway. It is a great place from which to experience the rugged yet beautiful scenery and landscapes of Ireland.
The Park Visitor Centre is based out of Letterfrack which is only a few miles from the Atlantic coast, just about as far west as you can go in Ireland. Located just 15km from Clifden, 53km from Westport and 82km from Galway City the park is best visited by car or tour bus although there are some public bus services available. The Visitor Centre is open from March through October while the park grounds are open throughout the year.
The Visitor Centre offers an exhibition and information desk, a Cafe and a Playground for the kids. Nearby Diamond Hill can be climbed along four different walking trails. Free Connemara Pony Rides are occasionally available but be sure to check the schedule so you arrive when this free service is provided.
The park makes up only part of the overall region known as Connemara which covers much of Galway and part of Mayo. Several days could easily be spent exploring the towns and villages of this picturesque location. Hikers and explorers will certainly enjoy the parklands, lakes and forests. Connemara includes the towns of Clifden and Oughterard and includes between 20,000 to 24,000 native Irish speakers in the region making it the largest Irish speaking Gaeltacht in the country. Kylemore Abbey is one of the most notable tourist attractions in the County while fans of the film 'The Quiet Man' will enjoy visiting nearby Cong, where the movie was shot.
A very good tip when planning your visit to Connemara or indeed just about any rural location in Ireland, is to time your visit with a festival event. Just about every town in Ireland has a festival during the year when streets are closed off, musicians play into the small hours and traders display their wares and stalls.
Remember, a lot of the villages you encounter in Connemara will be very small indeed, some only having a population of a few hundred people, or even less. Festivals bring a lot of people into these villages and there are festivals for just about everything!
Connemara is a fantastic place to explore and you could spend an entire week visiting Galway. The nearby Burren and Bunratty Castle, Oughterard, Kylemore Abbey, Clifden and the Connemara National Park are all on the doorstep of Galway city which makes a great base from which to travel the western part of Ireland.
Situated in the West of Ireland in County Galway, Connemara National Park covers scenic mountains, expanses of bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands. Some of the park's mountains, namely Benbaun, Bencullagh, Benbrack and Muckanaght, are part of the famous Twelve Bens or Beanna Beola range.
A number of walking trails beginning at the Visitor Centre offer walkers a variety of scenic routes and nature trails through the park. Stunning vistas from the 400 metre high Diamond Hill include the distant islands of Inishbofin, Inishturk and Inishshark, and the turreted Kylemore Abbey. The park is also home to Connemara ponies, red deer and an enormous variety of bird-life, including skylarks, stonechats and peregrine falcons.
Other remnants of times past include ruined houses, a disused lime kiln, old sheep pens, an ice house, ancient walls and Tobar Mweelin, a well which was formerly used to supply water to Kylemore Castle.
The Visitor Centre features include exhibitions, the ‘Man and the landscape’ multi-lingual audio visual show and tea room (seasonal). Entrance to the Visitor Centre is free of charge. A summer programme of guided walks and special events for younger visitors are also available at the Visitor Centre. Connemara is one of six such national parks in Ireland.

CLIMBING DIAMOND HILL, GALWAY | SOLO IRELAND ROAD TRIP - PART 2
In this vlog, I say bye to my family and do my FIRST EVER solo road trip! I drove to Baywatch B&B in Tullycross near Connemara National Park, climbed Diamond Hill, visited Kylemore Abbey, drove about and explored a bit and came to terms with eating alone in a restaurant! Also, I'm aware the music doesn't really match the video, but it's all I listened to during the drive and I LOVE the song hahah!

Connemara national park, Ireland 2003
Connemara National Park (Irish: Páirc Naisiúnta Chonamara) is one of six national parks in the Republic of Ireland that are managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. It is located in the west of Ireland within County Galway.
Connemara define it to be the land contained by Killary Harbour, the Maam Valley, Lough Corrib (as far as Moycullen); a line from there to the sea at Barna and the Atlantic Ocean. The historical territory of Connemara, as defined by the 17th century historian Ruaidhrí Ó Flaithbheartaigh in his book West or H-Iar Connaught, was coextensive with the barony of Ballynahinch, This is a broad peninsula stretching from Killary Harbour on the north to Kilkieran Bay on the south.

Hike up Diamond Hill - Connemara - Ireland June 2019
Hike in Connemara National Park/Letterfrack/Ireland.
A hike in the challenging Irish weather with University of Limerick Outdoor Pursuits Club.
Not even four layers and a raincoat could stand this weather condition. We started out really wet and almost miserable but ended up happy with the sun shining above us.
(Ps. Having whisky in a bottle was also a big motivator to keep on going, and it kept us warm when every little bit of fabric was soaking wet).

Connemara, Co Galway, Ireland - Vlog
Connemara, Co Galway, Ireland - Vlog
Welcome to Connemara, a place of contrasts, colours, wilderness and warm welcomes on the west coast of Ireland. From the bogs and lakes of the Gaelic speaking South Connemara, to the mountain vistas of North and West Connemara, the diversity of the landscape and the people who populate it offers much to the visitor.
Heading west from Galway city, the villages of Connemara will stretch out before you like a colourful road map of communities and hidden gems just waiting to be explored. Each town or village has its own distinct character and local culture, including Oughterard, Maam, Recess, Roundstone, Cashel, Carna, Ballyconneely, Clifden, Cleggan, Claddaghduff, Letterfrack, the Renvyle peninsula and Leenane. Don’t limit yourself though—some of the most beautiful places you will see or enjoy may be off the beaten track and should be explored on foot, by bicycle or on a boat!
Dotted around the rugged coastline are the islands of Connemara, some inhabited and others long since deserted, but all remote and beautiful in the wild and windswept Atlantic. Much of Connemara’s wild beauty is due to its remote location and sometimes harsh conditions, but a regular influx of visitors in the last two centuries has produced a region that is proud of its natural beauty, yet still remaining largely unspoiled.
However, as dramatic and breathtaking as the landscape may be, all travelers know that memories and encounters are what make a journey unique. A pint of Guinness on a misty evening by a fireside is as much a part of the true Connemara experience as scaling a hill or mountain to see the spectacular views.
A number of events, festivals, fairs and shows take place in each corner of Connemara throughout the year and are highly recommended. See for yourself the pride and passion evoked by the region’s iconic animal, the Connemara Pony at the Connemara Pony Festival held in Clifden every August, or experience the fun and familiarity of a traditional session of Irish music and dance in a local bar. A diverse artistic and cultural scene has also been nurtured in recent decades by the Clifden Arts Festival, which takes place in Connemara’s capital every September.
Activities for families, couples and individual travelers are many and varied, ranging from golf, fishing, mountain climbing, hiking, walking, cycling and pony riding to water based activities like swimming, surfing, kayaking and diving.
So take a deep breath of fresh salty Connemara air, as clean and crisp as you will find anywhere on the planet and immerse yourself in this special place—it might just be a journey you will never forget!
