Freycinet Peninsular Circuit (EP10)
It's spring break so I decided to go on a 3-day bushwalking trip with the club to Freycinet National Park to do the Freycinet Peninsular Circuit. It was my first time camping 'for real' outdoors and it was actually better than what I had expected! I guess most of it is because of the awesome weather - it was clear all 3 days when we thought it was going to rain according to forecasts!
Day 1 (~13km)
We started walking from the carpark to Hazards Beach to have our lunch at the beach then we continued our walk to Cooks Beach to set up our tent for the night. It's good that they even have a hut over there and a rainwater collection tank so it was pretty convenient!
Day 2 (~13km)
The second day I woke up, my shoulders were starting to show some little signs of sore and pain from carrying the backpack in day 1. Our group splitted into two smaller groups, one heading to Wineglass Bay through the mountains and the other backtracking to Hazards Beach then to Wineglass Bay. Sure enough, my shoulders weren't ready for more climbing, so I decided to follow the beach route. It was relatively relaxed, as we walked to our own pace. After reaching Wineglass Bay we set up our tent and enjoyed the sunset by the beach.
Day 3 (~5km)
Woke up early this morning to witness the amazing sunrise by the bay. The views were spectacular and incredible. This was the easiest day of all three, only having to climb up a small hill to reach the lookout to see Wineglass Bay from a distance. After that, we had an early lunch nearby and headed back to uni.
Had to say that witnessing the beauty of Wineglass Bay this way is much better than coming for day walks. Definitely the most beautiful bay I have ever seen in my life ever. Looking forward to visiting this gem of Tasmania again in the future! :)
Freycinet Circuit - Day 1
The four of us walked the 30km Freycinet Circuit from 27-30 November 2015. Would highly recommend this walk!
The first day saw us walk from the Wineglass Bay Carpark to Cooks Beach; a total of 12km.
This video may or may not be muted due to copyright reasons. For a while it had been, but as I write this text, it's not.
Looking back at what we do at 2:55, I only think of regret. It undoubtedly negatively effected the environment, harmed the ecosystem and contributed to the erosion of the dune. If I had my time again, I wouldn't have done it.

First of sorry about the shaky camera work and terrible sound. This was filmed before i upgraded to gopro 7 and gimbal. The gimbal is now broke and i still need a microphone that handles wind on the gopro 7. I also badly need more hard drives ideally i need four 8gb hard drives but for now one will have to do. If i do not get these there maybe a big hold on future videos until i do unless i can get the funds together as i this is a hobby not a job. Walking tracks car park to Wineglass Bay - 1.5 hours
Walking tracks car park to Hazards Beach - 2 hours
Wineglass Bay to Hazards Beach - 2 hours
Hazards Beach to Cooks Beach - 2 hours
Cooks Beach to Bryans Beach (side trip) - 1 hour
Cooks Beach to Wineglass Bay (via Mt Graham) - 5 to 6 hours
Drinking water can be in short supply along the Freycinet Peninsula Circuit. Ensure that you carry a large water bottle and a water bladder if possible. You will need at least 2 litres of water per person per day.
Spotting a snake can be common within Freycinet National Park. Snakes are shy animals and will usually get out of a walker's way rather than attack. Wearing sturdy boots and a pair of gaiters will protect your lower legs. Most bites occur when people try to kill snakes (this is illegal). If a bite occurs keep the person at rest, lying down. Do not wash or cut the bitten area. Apply a firm pressure bandage (not a tourniquet) from the bite site, all the way down the limb then back up the limb. Death from snakebite is very uncommon. You do not need to catch or identify the snake as the same antivenom is used for all snake bites.

Freycinet Hitchhiking / Hiking Adventure | Is This The Most Beautiful Place In Australia?
As a birthday celebration for Leah (thevegetariantraveller.com), instead of (or in addition to) drinking lots, we decided that we would take a few days to go on a hitchhiking, hiking, free-camping adventure. From Hobart, we hitchhiked to Freycinet National Park and spent the night camping at the end of the infamous Wineglass Bay. We then continued on the Freycinet Peninsular Circuit.
The 30 kilometre Freycinet Peninsula Circuit travels around the Hazard Mountains to Hazards Beach, as well as passing Cooks and Bryans Beaches. It is meant to take two days, but with a (very) short supply of water, we were rushed and completed the walk 24 hours after starting it - with a nice, long sleep in the middle. During our walk we encountered wallabies, an echidna, and a huge, black snake - probably a tiger snake - that freaked the hell out of me.
After living in Australia for a year, I have fallen in love with Tasmania. So much of this island is so very beautiful and I wish I had found it sooner. My visa expires in 17 days, so my time here is up. This will be a nice memory.

Bruny Island, Tasmania
Bruny Island is an island of stunning natural beauty, close to Hobart, in the state of Tasmania in Australia. It's a possible day-trip from Hobart, but with boutique accommodation and plenty to offer for longer stays. The island is divided into North and South Bruny, joined by a narrow isthmus.
North Bruny is mainly farmland, and is relatively flat. South Bruny is more mountainous, and is more heavily forested. The national park sections are on South Bruny. The main town for visitors is Adventure Bay on South Bruny. This is where the cruises depart from, and is adjacent to one of the three discrete sections of South Bruny National Park. There is accommodation here, and a bowling club for drinks and meals. If you are going to spot the White Wallaby, along the national park track here at dusk is your best chance, and the rainforest and walks are in the hills just about the town. Not far from Adventure Bay is the town of Allonah. Not as much of a tourist centre, you'll find the post office, pharmacy and the pub here, as well as walks along the water. There are smaller settlements, a few cafes and produce centres scattered around.
Bruny Island is approximately 100 km from one end to the other. Essentially, there is one road that stretches the length of the island, with branch roads to towns, beaches and attractions. Expect to take around 45 minutes to drive between the ferry and Adventure Bay or Allonah at the north of the South Island. Then another half an hour or so from there down to Cape Bruny. The advisory speed limit drops to 45 km/h on many parts of the main road between dusk and dawn - due to the danger of hitting wildlife. Also, remember that the insurance on many rental cars does not cover damage done to their cars hitting wildlife between dusk and dawn. The common ways to explore are by private car or by tour. There is no scheduled public transport on the island. There are no facilities provided on the narrow shoulders for cyclists.

BRUNY ISLAND | 'Views, Wind and Bread from a Fridge' | Around Australia #03
wewillroam.com | Bruny Island has been on the wishlist for years. From the Tasman Peninsula, we head up through Hobart to catch the ferry and explore. Bruny Island isn't a big place, and it doesn't take long for us to wander off the beaten path and find a quiet corner to enjoy the views. And the wind.

The Huon River Tasmania (HD)
This photo slideshow was taken along the beautiful Huon River in Southern Tasmania.
Starting at the bridge at Judbury, I followed the Glen Huon Rd down to Huonville.
I then followed the Huon Hwy, passing through Franklin, Castle Forbes Bay and Port Huon on my way to the Esperance Coast Rd.
The final photo is at Surveyors Bay close to where the Huon meets the D'entrecasteaux channel.
The slideshow gave me an opportunity to use a recording I made of myself playing flugelhorn ... Skylark
Enjoy! ... Perhaps even visit some day!
