Kangaroo Swimming Across Coombabah Creek, Gold Coast, Australia
Filmed at 'The Estuary', Coombabah. Located between a wildlife reserve and a major fish breeding sanctuary. One of the beautiful hidden gems of the Gold Coast.
We often see kangaroos swimming across the creek, but sadly they don't always make it due to attacks by bull sharks.

COOMBABAH WETLANDS ENVIRONMENTAL CATASTROPHE
Please check out and Like us on Facebook
to show your support.
This is a RAMSAR Protected Wetland; part of the Migratory Bird Agreements with China and Japan; part of the Morton Bay Marine Park, classified a Wetland of International Importance, a protected fish habitat under the Queensland Fisheries Act and a protected marine conservation and habitat zone under the Moreton Bay Marine Park Zoning Plan. The Gold Coast City Council has overall responsibility for managing this unique and irreplaceable natural asset.
The creek is now being destroyed by a significant volume of black mud which has been flowing into the creek and lake. Sand/Mud bars have formed across the creek severely restricting tidal flow and entry by marine life at all but high tide.
Dolphins, fish, crabs, sharks, giant rays and all water birds have disappeared in the past month.
Bank erosion has increased dramatically as the creek attempts to carve a new path. This action has undermined the root systems of the Melaleuca trees, which have been dying and falling into the creek.
Our numerous submissions have resulted in Qld Dept of Science and Environment and Dept of Agriculture and Fisheries now in the process of conducting investigations. Gold Coast City Council will NOT respond and have turned their back on this crisis.
To take direct action and demand action, please email the following Councillors adjoining the wetlands:
