A wolf chills out in the enclosures pond at the Copenhagen Zoo in Denmark. In February 2014 three new Gray Wolves will be moving to the Copenhagen Zoo. The wolves are from the Bern Zoo in Switzerland. The wolves who are now only 10 months old will be moving to the newly renovated enclosure called Norden (The North). In Danish the name for a wolf is ulv and many wolves are ulve. The Latin name for the wolf is Canis lupus. The wolf is the direct ancestor of all dog races found today. This animal lives between 12 and 15 years.The Danish name for the Copenhagen Zoo is Københavns Zoo (Zoologisk have i København). The Copenhagen Zoo has been in the spotlight recently because of the euthanization of the giraffe named Marius.

Okapiunge får besøg af dyrlægen | Copenhagen Zoo
I fredags fik okapiungen besøg af dyrlægen, som skulle indsætte den obligatoriske chip og give den et helbredstjek. Ungen er en han og har det rigtig godt. Se med her da den blev vejet, fik taget blodprøve og blev kønsbestemt.

Last Friday the okapi calf had a visit by the vet, who inserted a chip and performed a health check. The calf is a male and is doing really well. Watch the health check here.

In this video you will see the zookeeper in Copenhagen Zoo train the male tiger. The tigers are trained to make the daily work with the animals easier for the Zookeepers and so that veterinarians can get close. Here the tiger is trained to lie down and have a blood test done as well as open its mouth so the teeth can be checked.

On our last day we decided to squeeze in a trip to the Frederiksberg gardens (after devouring a VERY tasty breakfast at a French café). We spent most of the afternoon pottering around the park and grabbing some lunch before heading back to airport.
