the best travel places,Sharm El Sheikh (Arabic: شرم الشيخ, IPA: [ˈʃɑɾm eʃˈʃeːx]) is a city situated on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, in South Sinai Governorate, Egypt, on the coastal strip along the Red Sea. Its population is approximately 73,000 as of 2015. Sharm El Sheikh is the administrative hub of Egypt's South Sinai Governorate, which includes the smaller coastal towns of Dahab and Nuweiba as well as the mountainous interior, St. Catherine and Mount Sinai. Today the city is a holiday resort and significant centre for tourism in Egypt.Sharm El Sheikh is on a promontory overlooking the Straits of Tiran at the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba. Its strategic importance led to its transformation from a fishing village into a major port and naval base for the Egyptian Navy. It was captured by Israel during the Suez Crisis of 1956 and restored to Egypt in 1957. A United Nations peacekeeping force was subsequently stationed there until the 1967 Six-Day War when it was recaptured by Israel. Sharm El Sheikh remained under Israeli control until the Sinai peninsula was restored again to Egypt in 1982 after the Egypt–Israel Peace Treaty of 1979.[citation needed]
A hierarchical planning approach was adopted for the Gulf of Aqaba, whereby their components were evaluated and subdivided into zones, cities and centers. In accordance with this approach, the Gulf of Aqaba zone was subdivided into four cities: Taba, Nuweiba, Dahab and Sharm El Sheikh. Sharm El Sheikh city has been subdivided into five homogeneous centers, namely Nabq, Ras Nusrani, Naama Bay, Umm Sid and Sharm El Maya.

Sharm El Sheikh city, together with Naama Bay, Hay el Nour, Hadaba, Rowaysat, Montazah and Shark's Bay form a metropolitan area.
Before 1967, Sharm El Sheikh was little more than an occasional base of operations for local fishermen; the nearest permanent settlement was in Nabk, north of Ras El Nasrani (The Tiran Straits). Commercial development of the area began during the Israeli presence in the area. The Israelis built the town of Ofira, overlooking Sharm El Maya Bay and the Nesima area, and opened the first tourist-oriented establishments in the area 6 km north at Naama Bay. These included a marina hotel on the southern side of the bay, a nature field school on the northern side, diving clubs, a now well-known promenade, and the Naama Bay Hotel.[citation needed] The site off the shore gun emplacements at Ras Nasrani opposite Tiran Island is now a diving area.[1][2][3]

Sinai: Dahab Coral Reefs Under Threat of Extinction
iDive, is a group of environmental enthusiasts who have different career backgrounds, but share a common passion in diving. They use their diving and career skills to help save Dahab's dying coral reefs.
They hold clean-up events, with the help of Bedouins and local dive centers.
Water pollution has increased greatly in the past decade in Dahab, with the South Sinai Protectorate still ignoring the locals' pleas to help Dahab sustain its Eco-culture.

Diving the Blue Hole, Dahab, Egypt
As part of my Advanced Open Water certification, we came to the Blue Hole to dive. We started at a place known locally as the Bells of the Blue Hole and proceeded into the Blue Hole afterwards.
Highly reccomended as there are only a few blue holes in the world. My guide was Alia Negm from Sinai Divers located centrally in Dahab.

Dahab snorkeling 2017 - Blue Hole, Bells, Eel Garden...
Short video edit of our snorkeling memories from Dahab- Egypt

Dahab is a real hidden paradise in Egypt - the city still has the old, real Egyptian atmosphere: traditional streetview, fantastic cuisine and friendly people. Although some bigger hotel chains have opened resorts here, Dahab has not became too touristic: places and beaches never crowded, it is very easy and safe to go around. There are countless great snorkeling places around Dahab: no doubt, the most famous is the Blue Hole and Bells just next to it, with incredible colorful reef.
Footage was recorded at the following places:
Blue Hole
Bells
Abu Galum
Eel Garden

For these underwater takes, my camera was weighted with 4 kg lead and left alone on the ground for several minutes so that the fish could get used to its shape. Sorry for the wind noise ;-)
