Sarruga presents Peixos in Newbury, UK
Hot on the heels of their success with the bicycle-powered Insectes display in 2011, Barcelona-based Sarruga put on a similar show entitled Peixos: Creatures from the Deep (Peixos being Catalan for fish) in Newbury, Berkshire, United Kingdom, only this time instead of creepy-crawlies it consisted of various forms of ocean life.
The event took place on the evening of Saturday 20th July 2013, starting off at the top of Northbrook Street before culminating in Market Place, just outside the Corn Exchange.

Reading is forbidden, all literature is outlawed…
Inspired by Ray Bradbury’s visionary novel Fahrenheit 451, this incendiary outdoor performance explores the story of a society where books are banned and firemen employed to burn them.
451 is a 360-degree surround performance combining immersive sound installation with high-octane dramatic action and pyrotechnics to depict a dystopic society where people seek happiness in a world of technology and acts of violence are rewarded.
Bradbury’s classic text has proven prophetic - reflected in the rise of the IPad, surveillance, interactive media, the televised pursuit of fugitives, global consumerism and the continuing radical power of the written word. As we witness a rise in monitoring and censorship of the internet we might even believe that there could be a future where books may once again hold a secret knowledge…
Brighton-based visual theatre company Periplum, some of the country’s most exciting creators of large-scale outdoor performance team up with Corn Exchange Newbury and 101, its dedicated outdoor arts creation centre to create this dramatic new co-production.

NEWBURY town centre will transform into a twinkling wonderland today as the Corn Exchange’s annual Festival of Light: Lantern Procession winds its way up Northbrook Street and into the Market Place.
This stunning annual winter event brings together the whole community to celebrate the festive season.
Everyone can join in with their own lantern, or they can soak up the atmosphere as the candlelit procession travels along Northbrook Street to the Market Place.
Last year more than 300 lanterns and about 900 people took part in the procession and the total turnout was close to 2,000.
The Corn Exchange team and 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space, have been working with running a series of lantern-making workshops with members of the public.
To take part, meet by the Methodist Church in Northbrook Street at 4pm or simply watch at 4.30pm.
To complete the evening, there will be live music and food and drink will be available.
Part of the venue's regular annual outdoor arts programme of events, the Festival of Light is presented by the Corn Exchange and funded by Greenham Trust and Arts Council England.

ZoieLogic Dance Theatre’s production SAFE is dance theatre at its most thrilling. Set against the imagined backdrop of New York’s world famous, iconic Empire State Building, five outstanding male performers inhabit the world of the heroic construction workers of 1930; the men whose skills, dedication and sheer bravery helped make this incredible building a ground-breaking first. The emotionally charged performance, combined with a punchy choreographic language, pits masculinity against fragility.
SAFE is staged within an industrial set constructed throughout the performance. Like the history of the Empire State Building, SAFE is chock full of cinematic vignettes, hope, optimism, collective spirit and the ultimate friendship that only determination and brotherhood can bring.
‘Such intense grief that the audience audibly gasped’ Somerset Gazette
SAFE is supported by Arts Council England & McMillan Theatre and was commissioned by The Point Theatre Eastleigh, The Mayflower Theatre Southampton, Activate Arts, Pavilion Dance South West & South East Dance
