This is one of the most productive marks I have fished from Falmouth. At the right time it can produce Rays, Flounder and Bass to name a few. Unfortunately this session was still a little too early in the year for the big fish, but, like I have said don't ignore whats at your feet!

Port Isaac On The North Coast Of Cornwall
Port Isaac is a small and picturesque fishing village on the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The nearest towns are Wadebridge and Camelford, both ten miles away. Port Gaverne, commonly mistaken to be part of Port Isaac, is a nearby hamlet that has its own history. Locations in and around the village have been used for a number of films and television series, including:

St Anthony-in-Meneage, one of the most attractive waterside hamlets on the Cornish coast. Enchanting location on the Helford River, comfortable cottages and unique boating and sailing facilities all combine to make this one of the most sought after holiday destinations in Cornwall.
The Gillan Creek ferry enables walkers to cross Gillan Creek between Halamana, Gillan and St. Anthony at high tide. The stepping stones of the South West Coast Path across Gillan Creek are submerged roughly 3 hours either side of high water. Without using the ferry, walkers are forced inland along roads for over a mile, and miss a large stretch of the south bank of the creek.
The Helford River is renowned for its scenic beauty and marine ecology. There are seven creeks which feed the Helford River. The best known of these is Frenchman’s Creek, made famous by Daphne du Maurier in her novel of the same name.
There are several little villages and hamlets along the Helford River including Durgan, Mawnan and St Anthony-in-Meneage. The Gweek Seal Sanctuary is only a few miles away too, where you can visit seal pups which have been rescued and rehabilitated before their release back into the wild.
Those who take the ferry across to Helford Passage can explore the beautiful gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan. Both are full of sub-tropical plants, tree ferns, rhododendrons and much more. These gardens continue to flourish due to both the mild climate and warming effect of the sea.
The Helford River is a ria in Cornwall, England, fed by small streams into its many creeks. There are seven creeks on the Helford; from west to east these are Ponsontuel Creek, Mawgan Creek, Polpenwith Creek, Polwheveral Creek, Frenchman's Creek, Port Navas Creek, and Gillan Creek

Mevagissey - A Video Tour Through a Beautiful Fishing Village in Cornwall, UK
Mevagissey is a quaint little fishing port village in Cornwall, England. It is situated just south of St Austell and not too far from Plymouth. The streets in town, as you can see by this video, are very narrow and lined with great shops, pubs and restaurants. I found the food to be outstanding everywhere we ate.
At the end of June every year Mevagissey is host to Feast Week with lots of fun family activities, live music and street dances. There is also a fun carnival and a great fireworks show at the end of Feast Week.
Some really cool places to visit in and around Mevagissey are The Eden Project (the largest indoor rainforest in the world), The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Dodman Point, Mevagissey Aquarium and a big Model Railway exhibit.
SARDINES Fishing in Cornwall | Fish Tales
I love sardines and everywhere I go I seem to come across Cornish Sardines, but what are Cornish sardines exactly? We traveled to Cornwall in the South-West of England to meet with my friend David Pascoe, who is a sardine fisherman. David is taking us fishing for sardines in Mount's Bay just off the coast of Newlyn. All of David's sardines are certified by the MSC which means they are sustainably caught!
David loves to eat his own sardines simply grilled, but I love to make beautiful dishes with canned sardines. Check out some recipes on

Kayak trip - Porthallow to the Helford River near Falmouth Cornwall
September 2013 kayak trip, around the Helford River area and a beautiful day too.
Porthallow (Cornish: Porthalow) is a small fishing village on the east coast of the The Lizard peninsula just south of the Helford River, in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It sits between the two neighbouring villages of St Keverne and Roskorwell. It has one road running through it and a post office. It is also on the South West Coast Path. It has a pub, the Five Pilchards, named such for Cornwall's fishing fleet of five pilchards used to come out of Porthallow.
In this kayak trip we head from Porthallow round Nare head and into Gillan Creek, from there we head out around St Antonys into the Helford River and stop on a beach before returning.
The stony beach on Porthallow, that reaches out to a sandy one in low tide, is privately owned but can be accessed by anyone, villager or tourist. Manacles Reef, a dangerously rocky area that sinks many oncoming ships, lays just a mile off shore along with all its victims still there. It has a new village hall built in 2010 for the benefit of the villagers. It is as eco-friendly as possible with solar panels and floor heating from ground-floor beach heat. Many different local programmes take place such as yoga, Pilates, and monthly film showings. The wall facing the bay is made entirely of glass. Porthallow lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Almost a third of Cornwall has AONB designation, with the same status and protection as a National Park.
