Four dead in Huron County car accident
HURON COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
A two vehicle accident late Saturday evening killed four people and injured three others. The crash happened in Huron County's Oliver Township shortly after 7 p.m.
The Huron County Sheriff's Department says two pickup trucks collided at the intersection of Stein Road and Maxwell Road. Wreaths now adorn the intersection of Stein and Maxwell Roads outside the rural community of Pigeon.
Andrew Braun, 22, was driving a 2012 GMC with no passengers. The other vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Crew Cab had six people inside. Three people riding in the Chevy were ejected from the vehicle.
The crash killed 40-year-old Joshua Heck, 38-year-old Jessica Heck, 13-year-old Taylor Heck and 13-year-old Brendon Smith. The Hecks are all related and from the Pigeon area. Smith was from Caseville.
20-year-old Jacob Langley and 15-year-old Jarrod Heck were the other two passengers in the Chevy. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
Survivors were initially taken to Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. Due to their injuries they were all eventually transported to out of county hospitals, with one going to a Saginaw area hospital and the other two going to a Flint area hospital.
The Sheriff's Department received assistance from The Oliver Township Fire Department, Elkton Village Police, Pigeon Village Police and the Michigan State Police.
Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson and his team are still trying to piece together exactly what happened. While a cause remains unclear at this time. One thing is certain, the four deaths make this the deadliest car crash in Huron County in 21 years.
Autopsies were conducted Monday but investigators are not releasing the results at this time.

This is a TYPICAL morning for my family...usually around 5 in the am...we are awoken by anywhere between 30 to 50 turkeys trailing one another across the top of our roof from the trees in the back out to the streets to join their Turkey Gang where they spend their whole day running wild....and then again around 6 at night...right back to the tree-tops where they spend their nights....wow...it sure beats having a rooster COCKADOODLEDOO as an alarm....wouldn't ya SO much rather have a load of turkeys bellowing out their GOBBLE GOBBLEs atchya?? :D
