SCUBA DIVING Coron Palawan Philippines | WRECK diving w/ Exploring with Cody
Coron Palawan Philippines is becoming legendary. World class island hopping and beautiful blue water is reason enough to visit. It's already paradise for adventure travel, but the Scuba diving in Coron is a hidden secret. Not many know that it is home to some of the best wreck diving in the world.
Just north of Palawan Island, and about 30 meters below the surface in Coron Bay is a fleet of Japanese warships, sunk by American bombers in 1944 as they were fleeing the Philippines. These ships are massive. Some are over 150 meters long, and almost completely intact.
In this Philippines travel vlog, I team up with Exploring with Cody, and we tag team this incredible location. This was one of my favourite adventures in the Philippines. Let's go back!

My WORST Scuba Diving Day in Coron, Palawan - Philippines Vlog (Episode 7)
We started our day scuba diving in Irako and went down to 39 meters. On the second dive, though, I failed to go down, everyone left me alone and I had to go back to the surface. Bruno still managed to dive and visit Akitsushima and Okikawa.

CORON PALAWAN ( Free diving & Island hopping) Philippines travel vlog
Island hopping in Coron Palawan Philippines!
In this travel vlog I join Exploring with Cody in a Filipino adventure to visit Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon, Barracuda lake, and Skeleton Wreck. These incredible islands have been called the most beautiful in the world. If you plan to travel South East Asia, this has to be on your bucket list. It is definitely one of the best places to travel in the Philippines
We had a couple days between scuba diving the shipwrecks of Coron Bay, and exploring El Nido, Palawan. We decided to spend it Island hopping in Coron with our friend Jette. We wanted to do the tour a little bit differently, so we organized a private boat for us three, and left an hour earlier than other boats. This paid off in the end, because these islands are getting very very busy, and we were able to miss most of the crowds.

SCUBA DIVING FOR THE FIRST TIME! | Coron, Philippines
Today I faced my fear and tried scuba diving for the first time here in Coron. The Philippines is an incredibly beautiful place and underneath the water is no exception. I did something called Discover Scuba Diving which is a one day taster where you don't need a PADI open water to do!

CORON - Wreckdiving capital of the PHILIPPINES (WeWillNomad)
In this video, we get an early start to our day in Coron, Palawan (Philippines) to complete 3 scuba dives. Before sunset, we climb Mt. Tapyas for a brilliant view and end the day by trying out some local Filippino food.
Coron has been described as one of the best spots in the World for Wreck diving. On the 24th of September 1944, 24 Japanese Ships were sunk by an American Air raid around the coast of the island. The shipwrecks are generally well preserved and are all located in quite shallow water which makes it perfect for recreational diving. Unfortunately, visibility can often be quite poor (from 5m to 15m) and the marine life around the shipwrecks is sparse - with mostly Scorpion fishes, Crocodile fishes and Nudibranchs - plus the usual small reef fish like the Triggerfish, Parrot- and Clownfish. Groupers and Barracudas can also sometimes be spotted. We chose to dive with the local Coron Divers Dive Center and were very happy with our experience with them. They were attentive, professional and friendly and kept the diving to a small group. On our first dive, it was just the two of us along with the Dive Master and a Rescue Diver and on our second wreck dive, one other diver was added to our group. We ended up doing 3 dives with them and explored the wrecks of Morazan Maru and Teu Kaze Maru.

Philippines INCREDIBLE Shipwreck Diving Coron - Palawan Travel VLOG Guide 2016
Travel Vlog about my vacation in the philippines. This episode is Coron, Scuba Diving mecca for Wreck diving. But there is also more to travel & explore in this beautiful area..
Coron is another of the philippines amazing places! it's huge limestone cliffs are like the walls of a fortress towering out of the sea
And just like a fortress the rocks on top are sharp like daggers!
There are some fantastic beaches surrounding this island. And some very interesting freshwater lakes on the interior.
But by far the biggest and best reason to visit Coron is the fantastic shipwrecks you can scuba dive.
Underneath the waves lies arguably the number one place in the world to Scuba dive shipwrecks! This is what I’m here to see!
Sitting at the bottom of the sea are not one not 2 but 11 absolutely huge world war 2 ship wrecks.
This is an eerie place. these ships have been here for over 70 years.
Countless Japanese sailors lost their lives when they were bombed by the americans at the end of the war
Its dark, cramped and incfredbibly scary. It's not for the faint hearted !
Massive gaping holes in the ships are the scars left from torpedos and bombs.
Most of the wrecks are at the perfect depth for Recreational Scuba Diving - And no other special training is required.
If you want to penetrate these wrecks then its possible to do some more training and you could seriously spend days exploring each individual wreck. They are massive. some over 120meter long.
Its best to avoid diving at new moon or full moon. As I discovered the visibility is not that good at this time. But i think this adds to the mysterious and quite scary atmosphere which surrounds the ghostly shapes of the shipwrecks.
But its not all doom and gloom! The tops of the wrecks are teeming with life. Coral gardens scatter across the decks with a whole variety of fishes.
On top of the wrecks are gardens of coral between 5 and 10 meters - which makes for an interesting safety stop after penetrating the wrecks.
It is also possible to snorkel some of the wrecks. but most are too deep to safely snorkel- your guides will take you to the correct places.
There are also some reefs and shoals to dive in the area but i did not find these to be that interesting - and like most of the Philippines it has been massively overfished.
One thing which is very interesting, is one of the “freshwater” lakes on the main island of Coron. Its a bit of an adventurous hike with the equipment but once you are there too will experience a strange phenomenon in the water. at about 15 meters there is a mix of salt and freshwater, creating a layer between the different liquids. Impossible to capture on camera but well worth experiencing.
So thats enough diving for the day, now its time to head back to the town..
The small town of Coron is very quiet especially at night, but there are some nice restaurants and a market to explore. Don’t expect wild parties and nightlife here. Most of your energy should have been burned during the days activities!
The next stop for me is a budget liveaboard dive trip to Apo Reef! Be sure to watch the next video or visit my blog for more information

The Wrecks of Coron, Philippines
My last dive trip in the Philippines was capped off with 2 fantastic wreck dives off the coast of Coron. The Japanese ship wrecks were a joy to dive into, albeit i was bit claustrophobic at first cause the dive master was taking me into tiny passageways, but it was an incredible experience, and the awesome people from Sangat Island Dive Resort.

Diving WW2 Wrecks in Coron, Philippines + We Crash!!!!
We freedive on the mind blowing WW2 wrecks in Coron. These are by far the largest and best preserved wrecks I have ever seen! We dive the East Tangat wreck, the Ikikawa Maru and the Morazan Maru. All 3 wrecks sank during air raids during WW2.

Coron Philippines Wreck Diving 2016
Olympia Maru and Morazan Maru. Some amazing wreck diving, truly humbling to experience large ships sunk in war. Sad to think of the loss of life, incredible to swim through them and the huge school of Barracuda at 4.30 point (one of the most fantastic experiences I have had, video doesn't do it justice), and fascinating to see how the sea is reclaiming them.
As you can see, they lie in ~25-30m of water. The superstructures are largely intact even after all this time, and they are well on their wey to being reefs. Worth watching in 1080p!
Forgot my camera stick so the wobbly headmount was used, sorry.
Used a Gopro Hero 3+ Black for this with a Backscatter Flip4 filter. Found issues with trapped bubbles on headmount with it, and the screws got VERY corroded in very fast. Otherwise great system for underwater colour correction.
Song is Pressure by the exceptional Anathema. I highly recommend you go and buy some of their albums. :)
Thanks to Rocksteady Dive Coron.
5 MOST ICONIC Spots You MUST SEE in Coron, Philippines
Coron, Philippines is right up there with El Nido as the most popular destination in Palawan - The absolute paradise of a province on the western side of the Philippines.
After a 5-day Trip with Tao, I only had 48 hours to explore the area, and I took up half of that time yesterday diving the Japanese war ships of wwii.
So, today, I set out to experience some of the most iconic attractions just off shore.
As far as boat tours go in Coron, there’s a ton of different operators and you can negotiate price right here at the market where the captain’s start each morning.
You can jump on a group tour starting at about $20 bucks; which usually includes food and snorkel gear - but I decided to rent a private boat to take my time and go where I wanted.
For this option, I negotiated a price of about $50 US dollars.
Our first goal for the day is to visit what’s said to be the cleanest and clearest lake in all of Asia - Kayangan Lake.
The next stop on our voyage is to another famous spot called the Twin Lagoons - Two absolutely breathtaking shallow saltwater lagoons that are connected by an underwater channel and narrow rock pathway.
One of the best aspects choosing the private tour is that when you get hungry, you can stop whenever and wherever you want.
Barracuda Lake, I’m told, is normally the least crowded of the three stops. Most groups skip this spot because to experience it’s true uniqueness, you really need to scuba dive.
It’s actually a brackish lake which means it’s a mix of salt and fresh water.
I’m told that until you reach about 14 meters down it’s a cool, clear freshwater and then after that it turns into a warm salt water.
Unfortunately, I was pressed for time, so I just explored the incredible underwater rock formations and met the little creatures who live here.
and despite the name, I didn’t spot any barracudas.
Back on dry land I rush up the 700 plus steps to Mt. Tapyas for sunset, and to get a nice view of town from above.
Maquinit Hot Springs is one of the very few saltwater hot springs in the world. it’s a 30-minute tricycle ride from the town proper of Coron along a rough, curvy road.
It’s said that the water gets heated by a volcano and springs up into the two-tiered pool all surrounded by a cool wooded area, dotted with picnic tables and some relaxing mood lighting.
The water’s pretty hot, so coming at night, when it’s a little cooler outside was a good choice.
I’m glad I’m able to sneak in last minute, and it was a great spot to finish a perfect day here in Coron, Philippines.
