Costa Rica Arenal Volcano Story Part 1 ARE WE THERE YET?
Our adventure takes us Arenal Costa Rica where we experience a culture so different from ours. We were so tired the first few days but still had an amazing time. We see an amazing waterfall in La Fortuna and do a beautiful hike at the base of the Volcano. See a poisonous snake. All though there is lots of wildlife in Costa Rica we don't see much, at least not yet. What a great adventure!

What To Do In San Jose Costa Rica! | Secret Spots!
If you are planning to travel to Costa Rica, and want to have a place all to yourself, come here to Tapanti National Park. We also suggest visiting Orosi Valley. These 2 sites are pretty much secret spots. As you know Costa Rica receives almost 3 million of tourists each year yet these 2 sites we visited were empty or aren't busy. If you missed our Orosi Valley vlog here's the link:
This was our 2nd day in San Jose Costa Rica, we had really nothing planned but to drive around and see more of the outskirts of San Jose so we decided to head onto Tapanti National Park.
We were pretty much the only ones there! We couldn't believe it! It was so lush and we were enveloped with nature! Unfortunately it rained quite a lot, we tried waiting it out but it started to really pour down on us. And, if you are also travel vloggers, or you just love to capture every moment of your travels, you know how much expensive equipment one could have. So we couldn't continue on ahead.
A lot of our friends told us that Costa Rica is so beautiful, and it really is, we even think it is under rated. There are not many posts about Costa Rica even though it is a popular destination compared to other popular destinations.
We hope that this video helped you plan your Costa Rican vacation, and tune in because we have lots more to come!!!
Thank you all for watching, let us know if you have any questions, comments or anything, we love hearing them!!! LIKE and SHARE this video to your family and friends!

Arenal Volcano Costa Rica
Arenal is Costa Rica's most active volcano, and one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world. It has been studied by seismologists for many years. Although the activity nowadays is less damaging, you can still see ash columns, underground rumbling, glowing orange lava flows and sudden explosions on a daily basis. With its perfect conical shape it allows breathtaking views of volcanic action in the summit. Almost every night the crater offers a spectacle of lights with its explosive eruptions. The volcano is located at the center of Arenal Volcano National Park in the northern zone of the country, 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) southwest of the La Fortuna district in San Carlos Canton, Costa Rica.[5] The temperature varies from 16 °C (61 °F) in the high areas to 24 °C (75 °F) in the low areas and the annual rainfall is around 500 centimeters (200 in).[citation needed] Arenal Volcano area is an important watershed for the Arenal Lake Reservoir. The reservoir's water is used for hydroelectric power. It is also connected to the national system. - Wikipedia
Arenal Travel Guide Costa Rica

This video is our travel guide to Arenal and LaFortuna, Costa Rica. We review what to do, what to eat and places to stay. We are a travel family of four with kids ages 7 and 11 and we loved Costa Rica and will be going back.
Our favorite things to do include
Visit Lafortuna Waterfall, a 75 metre waterfall in the jungle that plummets to an emerald pool below where you can have a refreshing swim. It’s located just outside of the town of La Fortuna and it’s a short hike down a few hundred stairs Get there early to avoid big crowds.
Hike Arenal 1968 Park which got its name from the Arenal Volcano eruption of 1968, a huge eruption that destroyed 3 towns y changing the landscape. These trails give you awesome views of Arenal volcano and you get to see old lava flows and a view of lake Arenal. There are two trails and both can be done by families with kids.
White Water Rafting is something fun and exciting the whole family can do. Just make sure you do your research to ensure you find the best choice for your family. You can do everything here from calm floats to up to class 5 rapids.
Ziplining is something our family loves to do and Costa Rica is an amazing place to do it – a real experience of a lifetime. The system is safe, the guides are friendly and they train you before you go.
Horse Back Riding is a popular activity and Arenal is perfect for it. It’s a fun activity to do for all ages and abilities.
Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa is a 5 star resort located at the base of Arenal Volcano near La Fortuna. It has 5 natural thermal mineralized springs that are heated by volcanic magma from Arenal volcano. These mineral springs cascade down the volcano to form waterfalls, streams and little pools that you sit in, all surrounded by lush tropical gardens.
Mistico Park - Hanging Bridges is a beautiful nature reserve park a fairly short drive from the main town of La Fortuna. In this park there is a well marked path that takes you through the lush thick vegetation rain forest and over 16 hanging bridges suspended overtop of gorges and tree canopies. There is so much beautiful nature here including different types of birds, moneys, sloths, snakes and frogs. The trail is roughly 2.5km long and will take about 2-3 hours to do.
WHAT TO EAT:
Eat at Sodas
When you visit Costa Rica and you have to try a Soda (not the pop) but little family-owned local Costa Rican restaurants that are usually small and open air. They serve traditional Costa Rican dishes and they are popular with the locals. Must try dishes include Gallo pinto – it is a dish of rice, beans, onions, red peppers and cilantro. It can be served with eggs, fried cheese and corn tortillas. We loved it so much that we make it at home. Total comfort food.
Costa Rican Chocolate
If you love chocolate you have to visit a chocolate factory in Costa Rica! Cacao trees (where chocolate comes from) grow in Costa Rica so chocolate is made right in Costa. You can sample everything from nibs to all different types of chocolates and chocolate bars.
Costa Rican Coffee
We are huge fans of coffee and love trying different coffees as we travel. Coffee is grown and produced in abundance in Costa Rica and is one of their major exports. They take their coffee seriously and have won many international awards around the world for their coffee. Make sure you try it!
Coconut water & fresh fruit drinks
Called “Pipa fria” which is known as a cold coconut is sold at road-side stands and on the beach. It costs between $1 and $2. We drank a ton of these refreshing drinks! There are also plenty of blended smoothie type fruit stands at the side of the road that are so delicious!
WHERE TO STAY
There are plenty of types of accommodations in Costa Rica including hotels, fancy resorts, rental Condos and our favourite AirBNB’s. What you choose depends on what your needs are. Everywhere we travel, budget is always a consideration so we find AirBnb’s the best deal. We like to be in areas where the locals live ands be able to cook many of our own meals. There are some great Air BnB options in Arenal!
We hope you enjoy our Arenal travel guide!

Costa Rica attracts 1.5 million visitors each year. Some head for the rainforest in search of scarlet macaws, sloths, monkeys and jaguars, while others stick to the Caribbean and Pacific coasts to relax on the beaches, snorkel or kayak. Guided tours allow you to experience the best of Costa Rica's diverse environments with the benefits of expert local knowledge and a fully-planned itinerary.
Costa Rica Adventure
====================
Wilderness Travel’s “Costa Rica Adventure” is a seven-day trip beginning and ending in the capital city, San Jose. It is an ideal tour for adventurous nature-lovers, combining energetic activities like sea kayaking, hiking volcanoes and zip line canopy tours with naturalist-led wildlife-viewing excursions. The first destination after San Jose is the Nectandra Cloud Forest, a biological preserve, then it’s on to Arenal Volcano National Park. Stay overnight in a lodge overlooking the dramatic 5,300-foot volcano, then explore the rainforest via a network of trails and hanging bridges high in the canopy. On the fourth day, head for Manuel Antonio National Park and stop off for a canopy zip line tour along the way. At the park, hike through the forest to the beach, and check out monkeys, iguanas and colorful birds. In the evening, enjoy a sunset catamaran ride. Also, an extra one- or two-day white water rafting extension is available.
Costa Rica: Hidden Treasures
========================
Spend 16 days in Costa Rica with the environmentally-focused Sierra Club on the “Costa Rica: Hidden Treasures” guided tour. After the first night in San Jose, embark on a journey to the cloud forest with a stop at La Paz Waterfall and Gardens along the way. The third and fourth days of the tour are spent in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, looking for birds like scarlet macaws, hummingbirds and the endangered quetzal. Then, follow the Pan American Highway south, crossing over the 10,600-foot Cerro del Muerte to the Pacific Coast. Stay in a private reserve near Ballena Marine National Park and enjoy snorkeling, hiking, swimming or spotting whales and dolphins. Days seven-to-nine are spent exploring the isolated tropical rainforest of the Osa Peninsula and the town of Palmar Sur, and kayaking among the mangroves of the Gulfo Dulce. On day 10, head for Drake Bay to take a boat ride; stop by Manuel Antonio National Park; then lodge near Carara National Park for two nights. The remainder of the tour is spent around Arenal Volcano, where you may soak in the hot springs and hike, then return to San Jose for departure. Prices for the trip include all meals and lodging, guides, transportation and kayak rental and instruction. The Sierra Club describes the trip as pleasant and comfortable, but warns it is not a luxury vacation.
Costa Rica Family Experience
=========================
Discovery Adventures offers this nine-day “Costa Rica Family Experience” tour lead by local guides and Discovery Adventures guides. The tour begins with a day and night in San Jose. On the second day, visit La Fortuna at the foot of the Arenal Volcano, and the Danaus Ecocenter to see tropical plants and animals. The following day’s adventures include traditional tortilla-making with a local family and a raft float along the Penas Blancas River. On day four, head to Monteverde, the base for exploring the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. Next, head for the Pacific Coast and Manuel Antonio National Park, home to monkeys, sloths and over 350 bird species. Enjoy one last day in San Jose before flying home. Eight breakfasts, three lunches and one dinner are included, and all nights are spent in comfortable hotels.

Manuel Antonio National Park Tours Costa Rica.
Price: $95 per person.

Includes: Air conditioned transportation, bilingual guide, entrance to the park and lunch.
Manuel Antonio National Park, in Spanish the Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio, is a small National Park in the Central Pacific Conservation Area located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, just south of the city of Quepos, Puntarenas, and 132 km (82 mi) from the national capital of San Jose.
Established in 1972 with an area enumerating 4,014 acres (16.24 km2) (the smallest of any Costa Rican national park), it is the destination of as many as 150,000 visitors annually and well known for its beautiful beaches and hiking trails.
Four beaches are contained within the limits of the park: Manuel Antonio, Espadilla Sur, Teldoro, and Playita. With their large light sand beach, it is easy to see why they attract beach goers of all ages.
Both Manuel Antonio and Espadilla Sur contain tidal pools and offer the possibility of snorkeling.
Although Manuel Antonio National Park is Costa Rica's smallest national park, the diversity of wildlife in its 6.83 km2 (3 sq mi) is unequaled with 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds.
Both Brown-throated Three-toed Sloth and Hoffmann's Two-toed Sloth (perezosos) are a major feature, as are three of Costa Rica's four monkey species at the Mantled Howler monkey, Central American Squirrel Monkey, and White-headed Capuchin monkey.
Black Spiny-tailed Iguana, Green Iguana, Common Basilisk, White-nosed Coati and many snake and bat species are also common in the park. Dolphins can be observed there, as well as the occasional migrating whale.
Scuba diving, snorkeling, sea kayaking, mountain biking, and hiking provide opportunities to experience the tropical wildlife that enriches Manuel Antonio.
Manuel Antonio is Costa Rica's second most visited park behind the Poas Volcano National Park which lies very close to San Jose, the country's largest urban area.
The park's popularity has led to development of the surrounding areas, with environmental impacts to nearby forests and beaches..
The Pacific Ocean in front of Manuel Antonio National Park is also world renowned for its fishing.
From November to April it is not uncommon for a typical angler to release multiple billfish in the over 100 pound range.
Manuel Antonio is the most visited national park in Costa Rica, attracting over 250,000 people each year to its wide beaches and troops of monkeys that frequent the area.
The park consists of mangrove swamps, primary rainforests and marshy woodlands and is bordered by the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean.
It is a haven for over 100 mammal species including the highly endangered squirrel monkey.
The park has white sand beaches ideal for swimming, and forest trails snake along the coast to breathtaking lookout points.
Visitors can hire their own naturalist guide for around $20 per person to tour the national park a great deal considering the guides are well-versed in native flora and fauna, and the income helps support the local economy.
There are several islands within the park s boundaries that serve as important nesting grounds for birds like the brown booby, frigate bird and anhinga.
The shores are also occasional nesting grounds for Olive Ridley and Pacific green turtles.
The park is accessed by crossing the Camaronera stream that varies in depth from ankle to knee-deep.

La Fortuna, Costa Rica!! A Must Stop on Your Costa Rican Adventure!
La Fortuna is a must stop on your Costa Rican vacation! The Arenal volcano and La Fortuna waterfalls were probably our favourite sites during our Costa Rican vacation.
We stayed 3 nights in Arenal Observatory Lodge and 1 night in Volcano Lodge Hotel and Thermal Experience, formerly known as Volcano Lodge and Springs. On this video we outlined pros and cons for both accommodations. Hopefully this helps you decide not just where to stay, but how you want your La Fortuna, Costa Rica vacation feel like.
Unfortunately, we lost our GoPro and we lost all our footage of Desafio Gravity Falls, where we did some canyoneering, mountain biking through dirt and hilly roads- it wasn't easy! And white water rafting. We are still trying to look for some clips from our phones and from Desafio, and hopefully we can add it to our next vlog! We also tested our drone for the first time after losing it in Monteverde, here's the link if you haven't seen those videos yet! and

Highlight Tour Costa Rica. 4 in 1 tour
To begin this recommended tour, which should really be called Ten in One, we take the Pan-American road to Alajuela.
Here we go to the Agricultural Monument, the monument to Juan Santamaria. We also are going to visit the Mango Park.
Later we will stop for the first time at the famous Doka State. We are going to take the typical breakfast, visit the beautiful coffee plantation, the mill and the roast room.
As we continue to climb the Poas Volcano we get to the coffee plantations, flower and fern nurseries and strawberry fields.
There is an obvious change in temperature and in vegetation. This will prepare us for the pleasure of the exuberant cloud forest in Poas volcano, where we will have time to enjoy the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles.
We continue our trip on the Caribbean slope, stopping to discover La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a natural park where we will walk in spectacular trails that take us to White Magic Waterfall, the most spectacular thing in the area. Inside the park we will also visit the largest butterfly observatory in the country, home to a collection of tropical jewels and the impressive hummingbird gallery. A buffet style lunch is included here.
After lunch we will continue on the Atlantic slope and once we arrive at Puerto Viejo we will be ready for a relaxing on a boat trip down the Sarapiqui River. Just sit down and enjoy the surrounds. During our boat ride our guide will unfold for us the simple life of people who live along the riverside.
Before returning to San Jose we will drive throw the unforgettable Braulio Carrillo National Park, one of the most important tropical rain forest reserves in Costa Rica.
The tour includes breakfast, coffee plantation visit, craters and trails in Poas Volcano National Park. The entrance to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, inclluding Butterfly, Hummingbird Gallery and waterfall trails.
