Welcome to the land of the Rising Sun, viewer: Zipangu! Or Japan, if you prefer. Andante Expeditionary Tours MM is pleased to have ferried you this far; as ever, I am Alkahest, your host and guide to the wonders of the musical world. It seems rather fitting we discuss that distant island nation of the East in conjunction with an entry from one of the finest Japanese game franchises in history: 大航海時代 / Daikoukai Jidai, or Great Age of Sailing -- better known to us in the West as Uncharted Waters.
Released on PC in 1996, Daikoukai Jidai III: Costa del Sol was the third entry to KOEI-Tecmo's renowned series and a radical departure from the franchise norms. It did away with the traditional character storylines of Uncharted Waters 1 and 2, making your choice of player character/nation (reduced to Spain and Portugal) largely unimportant. Land exploration was greatly expanded, languages became more important as you'd need interpreters or teachers to be able to undertake certain quests or deal in foreign lands, and players would have to woo and wed barmaids to sire children to carry on the seafaring tradition/game. Controversially, slaves were introduced as a kind of tradegood you could buy and sell (which was thankfully later patched out) as well.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Costa del Sol failed spectacularly to resonate with its Japanese audiences and to the best of my knowledge, was never released internationally as a result. There is a stunning dearth of information to be found on it even in Japanese web searches I conducted -- I couldn't even find any good pictures from it!
It's a shame because I do think the developers had some cool ideas (land exploration!) which were perhaps a bit ahead of their time, or poorly implemented. In the end, they tried to blaze a new trail, and for that they have my respect. But for all the game's many shortcomings, nobody could argue that its soundtrack was among them.
Composed by Nobumatsu Takagi, 日本の街 or 'Japanese City' can be nothing less than the leitmotif of ports visited in the island nation of Japan. During the age of exploration, little was known of Japan at the time; it was an exotic and far-off land which captured imagination with tales of grandeur, opulence, and artistry. I can't begin to imagine what it must've been like to finally set foot on Japanese soil after months of long voyaging at sea, to be among the first explorers to visit the legendary golden land of Zipangu... good thing we've got video games like Uncharted Waters: New Horizons for that!
This theme is perfectly captures the spirit of Japan during the days of stalwart samurai and cryptic ninja, of majestic castles like Azuchi, and of the natural beauty for which Japan is well renowned: the snow-capped peaks of Mt. Fuji, the verdant forests of the land awash in striking crimson red and deep golden hues come autumn. Takagi skillfully weaves together a sweetly sorrowful sounding melody that carries with it echoes of times long past, and hopes of the future yet to come. It reminds me a bit of the Yafutoma theme from Skies of Arcadia, itself a nation whose inhabitants and culture feature recognizable aspects of Japan.
And with that, we mark the 23rd of 30 uploads for this month. How time flies. Only 6 extensions now remain from Costa del Sol... but our great journey isn't quite over yet! Wir waren ende August 2012 vor Ort , 2 Personen, der Preis war okay, zusehen bekamen wir eine Fütterung und viele Kroko Babys, die man auf dem Arm nehmen konnte für ein Foto. Vögel und Schildkröten waren auch vor Ort! Anlage war schön, so wie die Tiere in der Natur auch leben. Kann ich nur empfehlen!! Denke das wir dort nochmal hingehen, wenn wir in Spanien urlaub machen.

lembrança, encontra-se registrada no Peace Memorial Park, um belíssimo jardim,
onde encontraremos diversas esculturas doadas por diferentes países e artistas

a colina de Glover Garden, um jardim de mais de 30.000 m2., lugar famoso por
ter sido palco da famosa obra de Puccini, a opera Madame Butterfly. Visita ao

explosão da bomba. A surpreendente cidade de Nagasaki, é hoje um dos maiores

In our new animated historical documentary we will tell the story of the first foreign samurai in Japan, the man from Africa, they called Yasuke. He traveled to Japan with the Portuguese missionaries and played an interesting role in the Sengoku Jidai period and in the life of the daimyo Oda Nobunaga.
