????CIRENCESTER | COTSWOLDS ENGLAND VANLIFE!!????
The capital of the Cotswolds apparently. Cirencester, the town of Roman heritage and a massive Abbey as well...
We have come here today as we have done the village circuit and feel as though we couldn't leave without stopping off here. Cirencester is a larger town (not a city) in the Cotswolds and it is pretty much as you would expect. Similar architecture and layout as the others but slightly bigger. A large market sort of area in the middle as standard but also is had the finest greengrocers I have ever seen in my life. I wish we had something like that at home not just stupid supermarkets.
We had a look in the Abbey which was pretty impressive, not sure what difference is between an Abbey and a Cathedral? but it was very impressive. We also popped into the town museum of archaeology, not architecture Becky.
We also decided to end our trip here, we didn't really see the benefit of staying an extra night plus it would be ideal to have to whole of tomorrow to sort out the van and get everything cleaned etc. So yes, hope you enjoyed our trip and make sure you join us on the next one!

Driving through Castle Combe Cotswolds UK
Driving through Castle Combe, a village in the Cotswolds UK.
Castle Combe is a village in The Cotswolds area of the English countryside. It is about 5 miles away from Chippenhmam. It was a very relaxed place. After driving through the village we parked up on the hill and took a walk around of which I will add some more videos. There is a couple off pubs and the people were friendly. A beautiful l village to spend a summers afternoon.
Cotswold Walks Stow on the Wold
Stow on the Wold, self proclaimed ‘Capital of the Cotswolds’ located 800ft above sea level, which encouraged the formation of an enclosed town square, with access roads deliberately made narrow so that livestock on market days could more easily be controlled. It is said that on a good day up to 20K sheep could be sold, a phenomenal number in any age, let alone in the days when they would have been driven to market, and its main source of wealth.
Because of its elevated position the town relied on well water and even after mains water was provided there were many who still preferred to drink water from the well.
After a brief look at the town we set off into the surrounding country. It is difficult to walk anywhere in the Cotswolds without encountering beautiful scenery and this walk is no exception. First walking down to the river Dickler, then following the valley bottom to reach Lower Swell, another delightful typical Cotswold village, mainly strung out along the road which provided access to Stow.
After a brief wander we head back towards the start passing an old spa on the way. The walk aims to keep you from road walking and this it does quite successfully by using adjacent pathways.
Stow on the Wold, Cotswold walks, wool town sheep market town, elevated town, well water supply, beautiful surroundings, river dickler, lower swell, water spa, old spa, things to do in the Cotswolds, Cotswold town, capital of Cotswolds, country walks, Gloucestershire walks,

Save Our Cirencester
This video is about Earl Bathurst's lunacy! He and his development company want to dump 2.350 new houses on one Green field site at Chesterton near the old market town of Cirencester. Most people who live in and around Cirencester believe this will cripple the town and it's already struggling infrastructure. SOC statistical research has shown that Cirencester will, if the plan goes ahead, receive 2.5 times the national average number of new houses per 100 residents, compared with all other UK towns of the same size (ca. 20,000 residents). Mass development is being pushed all over the country and is just another way of maximising profits. Of course people need housing but how about lowering prices and making all those that are empty in London and beyond more affordable for people?
