Little Joe Cartwright - Come To The Islands (80s Island Groove)

Cartwright was an artist I first encountered on the Musical Islands LP, where he played guitar. This was 1980-1

Sometime between 1980 and 1985, Cartwright also made some great solo recordings at GBI, four of them were put onto the album you see in the video. I assume he plays guitar and sings in these recordings, he is also backed by a solid drummer and bassist.

This album was first released in 1985, on cassette, haven't seen it in any other format but you never know. It was reissued once on cassette, and then reissued in 1991 on this CD you hear. The original release had a Frank Penn song called No Lame Duck, this recording does not feature in the reissues.

I'm gonna guess this was a release aimed at tourists, with such a generic album title, nice cover, and the title of this track in particular. To my knowledge nobody else recorded this composition, a shame since it's a pretty good one. Cartwright kept recording with GBI, recording solo, and playing guitar here and there, these recordings are probably his best however.

If you think this is cool, wait until you hear his cover of Roy Colby's Desiree, that is something to behold, I will upload it some time in the future.

Uppercut Rockin' New Year's Eve Concert at Port Lucaya Bahamas 2014

Freeport, Bahamas - Grand Bahama’s premiere mutli-genre cover band, UPPERCUT returned to Port Lucaya's Count Basie Square on Wednesday December 31st, 2014 for the biggest Rockin' New Year's Eve party in The Bahamas. Performing songs of today and yesteryear, Uppercut rocked the crowd with their eclectic blend of Classic Rock, Reggae, Rap, Contemporary, Disco, Blues, Calyps-soca music. Uppercut supercharged the festive atmosphere with the sultry lead vocals of Methise Rigby, backed by Shaquita Stubbs, Livia Duncombe and Ebony Bowe on backing vocals.
