Thu 26th April 2012: 46233 Duchess Of Hamilton, painted in BR's Express Camoflage Green, is seen heading south over the Settle - Carlisle line at Smardale, and later approaching Wilpshire, near the top of the climb from Whalley, on a wet and windy day. These are not the best shots on the disc, but they show what can be achieved even in poor conditions, especially if you can get some shelter from the wind.

The first of the Sprinter revolution, the class 150's.
The class 150 Sprinter units were built by BREL at York from 1984 to 1987. A total of 137 units were built, the first 50 (class 150/1) having no corridor connection at each end and the rest (class 150/2), being fitted with corridor connections for when attached to other units.
In this video we see units of both types working in such diverse areas as Devon and Cornwall, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.

Today we're at Newcastle and we're climbing aboard 1V50, the 06:06 Cross Country HST service from Edinburgh to Plymouth (calling at a lot of places en route!). We're operating the leg of the journey between Newcastle and York on the DPS version of route available on the steam workshop. We're using the MTU Enhancement Pack for the HST by Armstrong Powerhouse which if you haven't already done so, is a must get!

A day at Eastleigh Railway Station 23/01/2019
While the preserved railway scene slows down over the Winter, the same luxury can't be gifted to the National Network, as services keep going to keep the country turning. There are few places on the South Coast better to witness this, than at Eastleigh.
Eastleigh is served by South Western Railway for the majority of its passenger services, being bypassed however by fast services between London Waterloo and Weymouth; with the main stopping traffic handled by Portsmouth Harbour, and Poole stopping services. Class 158's allocated to the 'Romsey Rocket' service operating back and forth between Salisbury and Romsey also call to stop. Much of the South Western Railway stock still sports the previous livery, albeit rebranded, of South West Trains, with only a select handful of units carrying the full SWR livery. Cross Country services are also frequent bypassers of Eastleigh, heading from the South to a select few destinations in the Midlands and North. Freight traffic is frequently handled by Freightliner and DB Cargo, with one regular service in the hands of GB Railfreight
Among the regular freight and passenger services, a Network Rail test train made an appearance in the hands of GB Railfreight Class 73's - 73965 & 73962 Dick Mabbutt. In addition, Ex-EWS DB Cargo Class 66 - 66167 hauling the Ex-Fawley Oil Tanks from Holybourne to Long Marston, for the tankers to await their fate.

BONNIE TYLER RETURNS WITH NEW ALBUM “BETWEEN THE EARTH AND THE STARS” AFTER FIFTY YEARS OF PERFORMING
Bonnie Tyler will release the brand new studio album ‘Between The Earth And The Stars’ in March/April 2019 through earMUSIC / Edel. Marking no less than the complete reinvention of a wonderful and much-loved talent this - her 17th studio album - is a collection of brand new recordings. As befits an artist of Bonnie’s undoubted stature, ‘Between The Earth And The Stars’ also features collaborations and contributions from some of her fellow musical legends including Francis Rossi on ‘Someone’s Rockin’ Your Heart’. The album boasts three knights of the realm with Sir Cliff Richard on ‘Taking Control’ and Sir Barry Gibb penning ‘Seven Waves Away’. The album also includes ‘Older’, ‘Bad For Loving You’ and ‘To The Moon and Back’, three tracks written specifically for Bonnie by Amy Wadge, who wrote mega-hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’ with Ed Sheeran and has worked with Camila Cabello and many more. The album sees her reunited with David Mackay, who produced Bonnie’s first two albums.
Bonnie said of the album, “I started singing in April 1969 and worked 6 nights a week for 7 years before being discovered by a talent scout named Roger Bell. He came to Wales from London to listen to a male singer he had been told about, but as there were two floors in the night club and he walked in and heard me singing instead! That was the beginning of my wonderful journey. I’ve performed all over the world, and still love hitting the stage and entertaining my fantastic fans. The time was right however to get back into the studio but I knew that, to mark 50 years of performing, I had to deliver something really special. I’ve done just that! The new material is sounding amazing.”
‘Between The Earth And The Stars’ is more than just a return to form for the singer known everywhere for her genre-defining hits. Her calling cards are the global number one smash ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’, but also of course ‘Holding Out For A Hero’. She received a Guinness World Record for ‘Faster Than The Speed of Night’ album which saw her become the first British female to debut at number one on the UK Albums Chart; the album went platinum in the US. Over and above these tracks that made her a household name, she has proved her versatility by enjoying a bilingual number one album in France, releasing Country tracks and performing duets – notably with artists as diverse as Todd Rundgren and Shakin’ Stevens. This new album keeps a link to her past with ‘Hold On’ penned by Kevin Dunne, the bassist in her 70s band, who was a big part of Bonnie reconnecting with David Mackay and creating ‘Between The Earth And The Stars’. Songs also came from Stuart Emerson and Chris Norman; the latter penning the Rod Stewart duet.
After being discovered in Wales, Bonnie Tyler’s recording career began in 1976 with her first single, and her debut album landed the following year. With an instantly recognisable and potent voice combining grit, power and range, Tyler’s star gradually rose thanks to a series of great songs that slowly exposed her an ever-increasing audience both in the UK and in Europe. However, it was when she linked up with Jim Steinman for ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ and indeed ‘Holding Out For A Hero’ [recorded for the soundtrack of smash movie Footloose], that Bonnie Tyler’s career really took off.
