Prince Edward County Wineries Self Guided Tour Part 1
Our Prince Edward County wineries tour Part 1. This was our self guided tour and it took us to:
Three dog winery
Black Prince Winery
Keint-He Winery
Norman Hardie Winery
We left for Three dog winery around 11am and it wasn't very busy which was nice. Tried the Baccus Red wine and it was great.
The Black Prince winery was just outside of Picton and was very busy so we couldn't get a wine tasting done. It was very cool. It had a medieval theme and some very old relics.
Keint-He Winery in Wellington was cool and had a great view of Lake Ontario over the vineyard.
Our last stop was Norman Hardie winery in Wellington. They have wood fire Pizza that was amazing.
Bay of Quinte Country
On Lake Ontario's north shore discover Bay of Quinte Country. Famous for waterfront trails, sandy beaches, fishing, golfing, boating, sailing, cycling, snowmobiling...a great-taste, destination for orchards, vineyards, farm stands, sugar bushes and signature dining...a buzzing cultural centre, for music, theatre, art and crafts, Bay of Quinte Country...your Great Waterway, Ontario travel and vacation destination.
Dining on a Lake on a Mountain
Gorgeous scenery, peaceful surroundings, Loyalist architecture, mouth-watering food, delicious home-made beer it can all be found at the Lake on the Mountain Resort and it's corresponding restaurant 'The Inn.'
Lake on the Mountain is located in Prince Edward County in Southern Ontario at the eastern end of Lake Ontario. It is a geographic oddity, a deep lake with no source of water that's 200 feet above the nearby Bay of Quinte and is one of only two plateau lakes of its kind in the whole world. The panoramic view from Lake on the Mountain back down over Lake Ontario is stunning. Visitors have been coming here for years to relax and unwind, and enjoy the spectacular view.
The GCAT took the fun, local Glenora Ferry across a section of Lake Ontario before climbing up in our Chrysler van Tripp'er to reach the Lake on the Mountain Resort. It's a gorgeous old building dating back to 1860. It used to be a general store which the country's esteemed former Prime Minister Sir John A. MacDonald used to shop at. It's a quaint stone building of Loyalist architecture (the region is second only to Williamsburg for its cache of wonderful Loyalist architecture) and is easy to spot because they have their old 1918 Ford truck parked out front. The truck still runs and they use it to deliver barrels of beer (which they brew themselves on site) to the town nearby.
The beers are made from local barley and hops instead of imports. Whether it's the cream ale, English ale, traditional IPA, or oatmeal stout, you are drinking a truly local brew. We couldn't help ourselves but have a sample of the homemade tipple under the sun on their comfortable patio beside the lake.
A Mecca for artists, nature lovers and anyone looking for a getaway or for a weekend break the area is a great spot for sailing, fishing, live theatre, artists' studios and galleries, unique regional cuisine and is also a flourishing wine region; with 26 wineries now operating in the region.
The sun was warm, there was a cool breeze off the lake and the beers went down easy. After an hour on the patio it was excruciatingly hard for us to drag ourselves back to our van and get back on the road. One thing we all agreed on before we left was that someday we'd be back.
See you there!

Prince Edward County Glenora Waupoos Black River ONTARIO CANADA
FROM WHEELCHAIR NOMAD DIARY...2003 CC
We drove Highway 41 through Napanee, and then Highway 33 passing a large electrical generation station to the Quinte Loyalist, the Glenora Ferry which links to Lake on the Mountain. Loyalists, who fled the United States prior to the 1779 American Revolution to live under British rule, settled this country attracted by free land grants and their added numbers led to the creation of Upper Canada or Ontario. Crossing white-flecked waters of Adolphus Reach, in a stiff cool breeze, we reached Glenora, once a centre of grist milling. From the ferry terminal, we drove up a steep hill offering scenic views overlooking the reach and overlooking a small deep mountain lake, called Lake on the Mountain. We drove road 13 to Black River to buy fresh PEC curd cheese and to view an old house which Bill had painted. From there, we went on to the winery. We met Ed Neuser, the founder and owner, an outgoing talkative white bearded German entrepreneur who migrated to Canada in the 1950’s.

'Camping' at Sandbanks! Prince Edward County || Travel Vlog
Hey, Thanks for watching!!!
In this episode we spend two nights at Sandbanks Provincial Park. The intention was to spend time with my parents before we leave for Taiwan, but unfortunately they had to leave due to an emergency.
We rented some bikes in Bloomfield and biked in the rain to some local wineries and distilleries like Kinsip, which was the best of them all, and TerraCello which was closed, and Huff Estate winery. We saw a band called the Wakami Wailers, which were pretty good, and managed to have an amazing time despite all the rain!
HEY! WE NOW HAVE MERCH!!!
