ICE Immigration Detention & Processing Center - Conroe Tx. - 1st Amendment Audit
Being in the U.S. illegally is only a misdemeanor offense, and immigration detention is technically a civil matter, not a criminal process. In America committing a misdemeanor offense people get treated inhumanly.
This video is a follow up from this audit:
Conroe Texas - GEO Group, just finished a $110 million complex and expects to generate $44 million in profits annually.
Geo Group a private prison company is again accused of human rights abuses. Over $800 Million in taxpayer money went to the GEO Group a private prison company that makes migrants work for pennies.
Immigrants at a Washington State detention center run by the GEO Group, Inc. are being held in conditions that violate both international and U.S. law, says a new report released by the Seattle University School of Law and the human rights group OneAmerica.
The report concludes that immigrants at the Northwest Detention Facility, including refugees and asylum seekers, are being held in an atmosphere of intimidation which includes verbal abuse, sexual harassment, strip searches, and poor to non-existent mental and physical health care.
The detention facility is currently managed by GEO Group, Inc., a Florida based private correctional management company that operates 40 facilities in the United States and in 10 other countries.
History of the Joe Corley Detention Facility
In June 2004, Montgomery County issued a request for proposal for operation and management services for the Montgomery County Jail.
In 2008, the one-story Joe Corley facility opened and began accepting federal inmates. The 167,000-square-foot facility was built at a price of $44.8 million. The Florida-based The GEO Group Inc. has operated the jail for Montgomery County since it opened in 2008.
In 2013, Montgomery County commissioners sold the Joe Corley Detention Facility for $65 million in cash to The GEO Group Inc. In addition to the $65 million in cash, GEO was required to pay Montgomery county an annual administrative fee of $500,000 to handle the paperwork between GEO, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshal's Service, the two federal agencies that use the medium security jail.
A Daily Beast investigation found that in 2018 alone, for-profit immigration detention was a nearly $1 billion industry underwritten by taxpayers and beset by problems that include suicide, minimal oversight, and what immigration advocates say uncomfortably resembles slave labor.
Pinning down the size and scope of the immigration prison industry is obscured by government secrecy. But the Daily Beast combed through ICE budget submissions and other public records to compile as comprehensive a list as possible of what for-profit prisons charge taxpayers to lock up a growing population, and how many people those facilities detain on average. The result: For 19 privately owned or operated detention centers for which The Daily Beast could find recent pricing data, ICE paid an estimated $807 million in fiscal year 2018.
Those 19 prisons hold 18,000 people—meaning that for-profit prisons currently lock up about 41 percent of the 44,000 people detained by ICE. But that’s not a comprehensive total, and the true figures are likely significantly higher. The National Immigrant Justice Center estimated that for November 2017, roughly 71 percent of immigrant detainees, then a smaller total figure, were held in 33 privately operated jails like the Joe Corley detention center in Texas where Yesica resides.

Shocking video shows brazen shooting in broad daylight in Fairfield
Warning: graphic content:
A 28-year-old man gunned down at a Fairfield gas station in March was apparently killed in a dispute over an engagement ring, and the brutal shooting was captured on store surveillance video.
Adarius Elon Williams, a father of four who celebrated a birthday the day before he was killed, died April 8 in the parking lot of the Citgo station on Milstead Road. Vincent Washington, 25, and Barbara Washington, 31, are charged with murder in Williams’ death. Additionally, Vincent Washington is charged with first-degree kidnapping because the woman who drove him to the gas station said she wanted to leave, and he threatened her with her life.
The Washington siblings, who lost their own sister to murder last year, are set to be in court this afternoon for their preliminary hearings. AL.com has obtained the store surveillance video of the killing, which shows a man with a towel wrapped around his head – identified by police as Vincent Washington – shoot Williams multiple times, nine of those shots fired almost point-blank after while Williams had already collapsed on the ground. Police have said Williams was not armed. According to police and court records, the brother and sister told a friend of Barbara Washington they would buy her gas if she drove them to the Citgo station that day. They were going to meet Williams because he wanted the engagement ring back that he had given to Barbara Washington. Williams’ fiancé at the time of his death was also with him at the gas station the day he was killed.
The friend drove them to the service station, but told police she didn’t know what was going to happen. Once they arrived there, Vincent Washington got out of the car with a towel wrapped around his head. When the friend realized something was amiss, she said she wanted to leave. At that point, according to court records, Vincent Washington told her, “(Expletive), if you drive off I’ll shoot you in the back of the head.”
The friend said she was afraid, and did what she was told to do. The video shows Washington and Williams arguing outside of the vehicle for about 12 seconds, and then Washington opens fire on Williams. Williams fell to the ground on his back, and Washington stood over him and fired nine more shots.
Witnesses on the scene gave a description of a white Nissan Altima leaving the area. They said the vehicle was occupied by two females and a male. A short time later, Bessemer police said, a man suffering from gunshot wounds to the stomach and the hand showed up at UAB West, and a white vehicle reportedly had brought him there.
Authorities confirmed that man – later identified as Vincent Washington - at the hospital was involved in the Fairfield shooting. About 8 p.m., Fairfield police spotted the white Altima and stopped the vehicle. Barbara Washington and another woman were taken into custody. The second woman wasn’t charged.
After the shooting, according to court records, Barbara Washington took the gun used in the slaying to a friend’s house to hide it.
At some point during the incident, Vincent Washington was also shot by someone trying to help Williams. Police have never said who shot the suspect. He spent several days in the hospital before he was released and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. Both of the siblings have remained jailed since then with bond set at $60,000.
Bill Veitch, the district attorney in Jefferson County’s Bessemer Cutoff, confirmed he has seen the video and said it shows the urgency needed in stopping the violence. “Any of us could have been out there at those gas pumps that day,’’ Veitch said. “This war on violence cannot be won unless the communities unite, tear down the walls that have built between us and see, hear and report.”
“It’s going to take a great deal of individual courage to become involved in this struggle,’’ he said. “Join with me and our law enforcement officers, our churches, our judges, to fight these heartless hoodlums. This video is graphic evidence of how great this epidemic has become.”

Tri-County Mall - Raw & Real Retail
This is our walkthrough of the Tri-County Mall in Springdale, OH from May 25, 2019. This is a dying mall in an overmalled area of greater Cincinnati. It seems as if multiple ownership changes and poor decisions later in its life has helped push this mall along its death spiral a bit faster than some others. It seems like everyone just up and split real quick rather than a long dying period. Rather unfortunate, it is a beautiful property and was a delight to walk around.

Here is a portion of an unusually well written wikipedia article:
Tri-County Mall is a shopping mall located on State Route 747 (Princeton Pike) just south of Interstate 275 in the city of Springdale, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Originally known as Tri-County Shopping Center, it opened in 1960 and has been expanded several times in its history. The original shopping center was an open-air property featuring H. & S. Pogue Company (Pogue's) and John Shillito Company (Shillito's) as the anchor stores.
Joseph Meyerhoff, a businessman who had developed several shopping and residential properties in Baltimore, Maryland, announced plans for the Tri-County Center in 1959. The plans called for a shopping center with two Cincinnati-based department stores as the anchor stores: Shillito's and Pogue's, positioned at the north and south ends respectively of an open-air mall concourse. Other tenants announced for the center included an S. S. Kresge Corporation dime store, a Kroger supermarket, and Gray Drug. The mall officially opened to the public on September 26, 1960.
Sears opened as the mall's third anchor store in May 1967, and was connected to the rest of the mall by a new wing of stores. Unlike the rest of the mall at the time, the expansion wing was enclosed, featuring palm trees, tropical plants, and fountains, along with antique lights and skylights. In early 1968, the rest of the formerly open-air mall was enclosed as well, featuring décor similar to the 1967 expansion.
Monumental Properties, the name which Meyerhoff's real estate division had assumed in 1970, sold the mall to Equitable Life Insurance (now AXA Equitable Holdings) for $34 million in 1979.
Federated Department Stores (now Macy's, Inc.) merged the John Shillito Company and the Rike Kumler Co. (Rike's) under the singular name Shillito-Rike's in 1982. Four years later, all of the Shillito-Rike's stores were further consolidated under the Lazarus name. Another anchor change ensued in 1984 when Pogue's parent company, Associated Dry Goods, merged the chain with L. S. Ayres of Indianapolis. A food court opened off the main entrance in 1985, with nine restaurants.
The mall underwent an expansion in 1990, which doubled the number of shops by adding a second level atop the existing portion of the mall. Also, a fountain was added to center court, and the food court was relocated to a larger location on the newly-built upper level by Sears. The final part of the expansion, a two-story, 240,000-square-foot McAlpin's department store, opened as the mall's fourth anchor store one year later.
Equitable Life Insurance put Tri-County and several other mall properties up for sale in December 1996. It was sold to the O'Connor Group in July 1997 for $147 million. In 1998, Dillard's acquired the Mercantile Stores Company, which resulted in all of the McAlpin's stores being rebranded as Dillard's. Blackstone Group, a real estate company based out of New York City, announced negotiations to buy the mall from O'Connor Group in 2002. Blackstone then sold the mall to Thor Equities in 2005.
Two further anchor changes occurred under Thor Equities' ownership. Lazarus, which had been dual-branded by Federated Department Stores as Lazarus-Macy's in 2003, became just Macy's in 2005. Also, J. C. Penney closed its Tri-County location in 2005. One year later, the former J. C. Penney building underwent a major renovation, in which a new mall hallway was run through the lower level of the building, leading to a new mall entrance. A joint venture of Coventry Real Estate and Developers Diversified Realty (now SITE Centers) bought the mall in May 2006.
In July 2013, the mall was purchased by SingHaiyi Group, a real estate company based in Singapore. Dillard's downgraded its store to an outlet store in 2013, and then closed it in 2015. To counter the decline in tenancy, SingHaiyi announced a renovation project in 2015.
On June 4, 2018, Sears announced that its Tri-County store would close in September 2018. Despite the closure of other anchors, Macy's opened a division of its discount format Backstage at its Tri-County location in 2018.

Charles Oakley outside court in Manhattan
Former New York Knicks star Charles Oakley faced a judge Tuesday on charges he assaulted a security guard at Madison Square Garden.
The team legend tangled with guards when he was booted from a game on Feb. 8. He was then banned from the arena by team owner James Dolan, who intimated that Oakley had a problem with alcohol.
