One Million Acres for BC
Since our first conservation project in the province in 1974, NCC has been conserving critical habitats, migratory corridors for wide-ranging species and other natural places in British Columbia. Our conservation activities have resulted in the permanent protection of 963,834 acres. That's almost one million acres so far, but not quite — which is why we've set the goal of reaching the 1 million-acre mark in time for Earth Day 2020.

We support local farms and farming, even if it means driving an hour from our home to Oliver BC, which is where we find the best quality, selection and prices for fresh farm produce.
Please note cherries grown locally in Oliver were $2.00 a pound, prices can vary, but on the same day we bought cherries in Oliver, the price per pound was $4.97 at Walmart in Kelowna and that was for imported cherries.

Kelowna 2015 Lake Shore at $100 million a mile - Agriculture slavery - YouTube
This is from the New York Times * ‘Sea Slaves’: Forced Labor for Cheap Fish
Slavery is alive and well all around the world. We here think that slavery happens in faraway places but it's in our back yard.
Agriculture uses foreign workers, brought from 'third' world countries to do farm labor.
Where as once farms were family affairs and a hard honest life, today's farmers are often 'refugees' from cities with more money than skills. But than expertise can be bought.
Tax shelter farming has forced the cost of land into levels where the 99% will never be able to afford it.
Okanagan lake shore now can approach 100 million dollars a mile.
First Okanagan cherries now appearing at fruit stands
We've been keeping an eye out for the first Okanagan Cherries of the year and spotted some Osoyoos grown cherries at the Kelowna Fruit Stand. We stopped-in to meet the proprietors and try some cherries.
