A Trip to Anegada and Cow Wreck Beach ⎜Sailing the British Virgin Islands
This video was taken on our first full day sailing in the BVI's. We took off from Tortola, hit breakfast at the Baths on Virgin Gorda, then sent it for a 3-4 hour sail to Anegada. The quote or most memorable reflection on this day was that my family and friends were a little curious (mabe a little afraid) of where we were going lol. The thing is, you can't see this island. It's so short that you won't notice it until you're about 45 minutes away. It's a great place to start a trip. After that, the whole crew was ready to sail each day.

Cow Wreck Beach, Anegada
Cow Wreck Beach is located on the small and beautiful island of Anegada in the British Virgin Islands. Anegada is the northernmost island in the BVI chain. It's 15 sq. miles around and it's tallest point is only about 28 ft. The island is surrounded by coral reefs and it is dotted with gorgeous long stretches of white sand beaches. One of our favorites is Cow Wreck Beach on the northwest side of the island. It is rumored to have acquired it's unusual name when, in the late 1800's, a ship strayed too close to the coral reef and sank. The ship was carrying a load of cow bones, used to make buttons and other material goods at that time. For years afterward, cow bones washed ashore in this location and so the beach was aptly named Cow Wreck
Cow Wreck Beach has a scenic and popular beach bar with the same name. Try a Wreck Punch or a Cow Killer while sitting and enjoying some of the prettiest water and long stretch of white sand you'll ever see!

I've been fortunate enough to have been coming down to the Cow Wreck for twenty years now. The owners Lauren and Bell have literally watched me grow up, as I have watched their wonderful business expand over the years...

Early morning arrival on my scooter... Had a few brews and enjoyed a stiff breeze. Things picked up around lunch time and I had a great day here. I'd highly recommend this spot for a low key day with some cool people.
