Amazing Calgary Stampede 5 July 2019 @4
Please help me to subs and views. thank you for subs
The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo, exhibition, and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The ten-day event, which bills itself as The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, attracts over one million visitors per year and features one of the world's largest rodeos, a parade, midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon racing, and First Nations exhibitions. In 2008, the Calgary Stampede was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame.
The event's roots are traced to 1886 when the Calgary and District Agricultural Society held its first fair. In 1912, American promoter Guy Weadick organized his first rodeo and festival, known as the Stampede. He returned to Calgary in 1919 to organize the Victory Stampede in honour of soldiers returning from World War I. Weadick's festival became an annual event in 1923 when it merged with the Calgary Industrial Exhibition to create the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.
Organized by thousands of volunteers and supported by civic leaders, the Calgary Stampede has grown into one of the world's richest rodeos, one of Canada's largest festivals, and a significant tourist attraction for the city. Rodeo and chuckwagon racing events are televised across Canada. However, both have been the target of increasing international criticism by animal welfare groups and politicians concerned about particular events as well as animal rightsorganizations seeking to ban rodeo in general.
Calgary's national and international identity is tied to the event. It is known as the Stampede City, carries the informal nickname of Cowtown, and the local Canadian Football League team is called the Stampeders. The city takes on a party atmosphere during Stampede: office buildings and storefronts are painted in cowboy themes, residents don western wear, and events held across the city include hundreds of pancake breakfasts and barbecues.

Travel reminds those paying attention that they are not the only man in the world, that this is a huge world and that they are only a small, insignificant human in it. This is quite a leisure experience – to go to another country or another state and see large numbers of peoples living differently, and coming to understand how large the world actually is. When people who learn return home, they keep with them this perspective for the rest of their life and they benefit from this is knowledge and perspective.
Another benefit to traveling is coming to see one’s native country in a different light, in a different way. This is done through being able to compare and contrast home from a foreign location, done most always through traveling. A new perspective may be formed

BANDS ON THE RUN – TRIPLE BILL SHOW BECOMES ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE TOURS OF 2014
THE ROAD HAMMERS, DOC WALKER, AND BLACKJACK BILLY ASTOUND CANADA WITH NEW MUSIC, AND OLD FAVOURITES
December 18th, 2014 (Toronto, ON) – Bands on the Run goes out with a BANG! Wrapping their 26-date tour at the renowned Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver B.C., The Road Hammers, Doc Walker, and Blackjack Billy left it all on the stage on Monday night. Playing to thousands of fans night after night the tour saw The Road Hammers, Doc Walker, Blackjack Billy, hammer out 6,000 km, while travelling from coast to coast during their first ever cross-Canada tour together.
A rare tour opportunity for fans, as well as all three bands, Jason McCoy of The Road Hammers said “the fans on the BOTR tour have re-defined the term 'party', they were completely off the hook. Thank you Canada, our home and native land!”
Coming out of hiatus with the release of their third studio album Wheels in June of this year, The Road Hammers saw huge success with the first single “Get On Down The Road”, as well as “I’ve Been Everywhere” and the GOLD certified track “Mud”. Doc Walker, one of Canada’s most legendary country music bands, along with label mates Blackjack Billy both released new albums this past fall. Doc Walker’s eighth studio album, The 8th features the Top 10 hit “Put It Into Drive”, the fan-favourite “Shake It Like it’s Saturday Night”, and the latest hit “That’s How I Like It”.
Touring with both bands for the first time, Chris Thorsteinson of Doc Walker weighed in and said, “the BOTR tour was truly an amazing experience for me as a musician and a fan of music. The crew was amazing and if it were not for the support of country radio it never would have happened. Most of all, I want to thank the fans for their support, I hope you know how much each and everyone of us appreciate you coming out to see us.”
Hailing from three small-towns across the USA with one token Canadian band member, Blackjack Billy put forth their debut album, Rebel Child, to the masses and couldn’t have been happier with the success that they received. Not only did “Booze Cruise” reach well-over 350,000 downloads, it was also certified PLATINUM and was selected as a Sirius XM The Highway favourite. Their tracks “Get Some”, “Got A Feeling”, and “Sugar Cane” also received a great amount of attention from country music lovers. Completing their first cross-Canada tour Jeff Coplan would like to say, “thank you Canada for welcoming us into your party and making us feel at home”.
Creating even more buzz around the tour, Blackjack Billy released a brand new track “RUN”, featuring The Road Hammers, and Doc Walker just prior to the tour kick off, amping up the excitement. Giving fans an exclusive backstage look, the video also captures the electric energy that each brand brought to the table. Premiering on CMT Canada earlier this month the “RUN” music video features the bands rocking out at their second stop of the tour in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Calgary: Cowboy Up! -- Condé Nast Traveler
Home to the world famous Calgary Stampede, this city brings out the cowboy (or cowgirl) in all visitors. Condé Nast Traveler's Mark Schatzker outfits himself at SmithBilt Hats, climbs the Canadian Rockies with world champion climber Will Gad, takes on a mechanical bull at Ranchman's, and indulges in a local seafood(?) dish called prairie oysters.
