What about the Isle of Wight? What is it?
The Isle of Wight is a county and the largest and second-most populous island in England. It is in the English Channel, about 2 miles (3.2 km) off the coast of Hampshire, separated by the Solent. The island has resorts that have been holiday destinations since Victorian times, and is known for its mild climate, coastal scenery, and verdant landscape of fields.
The island has been home to the poets Swinburne and Tennyson and to Queen Victoria, who built her much-loved summer residence and final home Osborne House at East Cowes. It has a maritime and industrial tradition including boat-building, sail-making, the manufacture of flying boats, the hovercraft, and Britain's space rockets. The island hosts annual music festivals including the Isle of Wight Festival, which in 1970 was the largest rock music event ever held. It has well-conserved wildlife and some of the richest cliffs and quarries for dinosaur fossils in Europe.
The isle was owned by a Norman family until 1293 and was earlier a kingdom in its own right. The island has played an important part in the defence of the ports of Southampton and Portsmouth, and been near the front-line of conflicts through the ages, including the Spanish Armada and the Battle of Britain. Rural for most of its history, its Victorian fashionability and the growing affordability of holidays led to significant urban development during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The quickest public transport link to the mainland is the hovercraft from Ryde to Southsea; three ferry and two catamaran services cross the Solent to Southampton, Lymington and Portsmouth.

What about The Garlic Farm?
They've been growing garlic on the Isle of Wight ever since Granny Norah planted those first few cloves in her garden over 50 years ago. They have spent all the years since exploring its history and origins, experimenting with the many different varieties here on the Island and creating many garlic infused products from garlic chutney to garlic beer and garlic ice cream.
Colin and Jenny (Mum and Dad) have even travelled to the mountains of Georgia and Kazakhstan (see the Garlic Farmer's Blog) in search of the Mother of all garlic and Colin continues to make garlic connections across the globe. Colin and Jenny's daughter Natasha has written three fantastic books on cooking with garlic and how to get the most of it's amazing health benefits. Their daughter, Josephine, runs the Garlic Farm Field Kitchen at events, shows and music festivals offering delicious garlic inspired grub to hungry festival goers. Their son, Hugo, looks after the farm's holiday cottages and yurts, as well as playing gypsy jazz guitar in his band, Cat Skellington who can on occasion be found playing in the farm restaurant.
Natasha and her husband Barnaby now oversee the day-to-day business operations while Colin and Jenny remain actively involved in the business. The amazingly hard working and dedicated Garlic Farm team is growing with the business and reaches up to 70 people in the height of the summer season.

Thriving Public House in Sandown Isle of Wight For Sale
Sandown, Isle of Wight, England
Advert Ref: 3042
Business Description
Preferred Commercial is delighted to offer for sale this thriving public house, which was established in 1857 and which has been in our client's careful hands since 2006. The pub is only now offered to the market due to our client's wish to relocate. The business generates a turnover in the region of £350,000 per annum with a gross profit of 54%, derived from predominately wet sales. The Old Comical also offers 3-letting rooms. The pub has an enviable reputation and is renowned for providing a friendly service. The business plays host to a number of events and functions, such as beer festivals, live music and quiz nights, along with having 2 dart teams and 2 pool teams. The pub has previously featured on the TV programme 'Relocation, Relocation'. We feel the turnover could be further increased by embarking on a modest marketing campaign and establishing a website advertising the business and services provided, with online booking facilities. The premises boast a spacious dining room and a commercial kitchen, which we feel could be utilised to serve lunch and evening meals. There is also a 1-bedroom self-contained cottage and 2 1-bedroom apartments, which could be converted into further letting accommodation, subject to permission being granted. This is an ideal opportunity to acquire an already busy public house with an excellent reputation in such a desirable location. Early negotiations with Preferred Commercial must come highly recommended.

Places to see in ( Freshwater - UK )
Places to see in ( Freshwater - UK )
Freshwater is a large village and civil parish at the western end of the Isle of Wight, England. Freshwater Bay is a small cove on the south coast of the Island which also gives its name to the nearby part of Freshwater. Freshwater sits at the western end of the region known as the Back of the Wight or the West Wight which is a popular tourist area.
Freshwater is close to steep chalk cliffs. It was the birthplace of physicist Robert Hooke and was the home of Poet Laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson. Freshwater is famous for its geology and coastal rock formations that have resulted from centuries worth of coastal erosion. The Arch Rock was a well-known local landmark.
Freshwater's beach is very popular. It is mostly sandy but it is also covered in chalk from the nearby cliffs, which is frequently gathered by tourists as souvenirs. Freshwater features an excellent example of a surviving Victorian Beach hotel, The Albion. The Albion was built around the time Freshwater became popularised as a coastal resort, and is still popular today. However, the heavy storms which often lift rocks and other debris from the beach means that the building's exterior walls often have to be repainted, with cracks, chips and dents in the walls often being repaired too.
The hills above Freshwater are named after Tennyson. On the nearby Tennyson Down is a Cornish granite cross erected in 1897 in tribute to Tennyson, by the people of Freshwater, and other friends in England and America. There is also a hill in the area called 'Hooke Hill', named for Robert Hooke. All Saints' Church, Freshwater is one of the oldest churches on the Isle of Wight, and was listed in the Domesday survey of 1086.
Dimbola Lodge, the home of Julia Margaret Cameron and now a photographic museum, is in the village of Freshwater Bay, which is part of Freshwater. There is also a tearoom and bookstore. Tennyson's son, Hallam donated land for a new church in Freshwater Bay. Hallam's wife Audrey suggested that the church be named for St. Agnes. St. Agnes' Church, Freshwater was consecrated on 12 August 1908.
Freshwater was the site of the largest station on the Freshwater, Yarmouth and Newport Railway that operated from 20 July 1889 to 21 September 1953. Freshwater is near the source of the Western Yar, a river whose estuary runs north to Yarmouth. Freshwater Marshes are a Site of Special Scientific Interest,
At the western end of Freshwater Bay on a bluff are the remains of Fort Redoubt, also known as Fort Freshwater or Freshwater Redoubt, a Palmerston Fort. Fort Redoubt was built in 1855-1856 to protect Freshwater Bay, and was in use until the early 20th century. It was sold by the military in 1928. Presently, part of it is a private residence, and other portions are being developed as holiday flats.
Freshwater is linked to other parts of the Island by Southern Vectis buses on route 7 and route 12 serving Totland, Yarmouth and Newport as well as intermediate villages. In the Summer, open top bus The Needles Tour and tourist service Island Coaster serve Freshwater Bay. Freshwater is on the Isle of Wight Coastal Path.
( Freshwater - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Freshwater . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Freshwater - UK

Depths of the Ocean
I hear the 3 birds sing
They're getting quite the harmony
Half the world can hear the song
But clearly not the powers that be
99 percent are soft hearted
What do we do with the 1 percent?
We the people should clearly ignore them
What do you think Mr President?
Every time I look to the future
I see a dream that's stranded at sea
I dive right in to the depths of the ocean
And launch straight up to push it on free-------
Do you hear me?
I'm sweltering,
we're in a bright blue sky day
And I thank the stratosphere,
for it's been a bit heavy round here
I hear the peace train whistle,
toot, for the first time in years
Lets bust the rust and grease the peace,
lets wash the track using the
Millions of tears
Of War torn people
Converge in a tidal
Wave tinged with red
I dive right in to the depths of the ocean
And launch right up with the hopes of the dead to see-----------
We gotta have peace
We gotta have peace
It's what everyone needs
So we gotta have peace
This Enormous 'Giant Cow' in Australia Is Too Big for a Slaughterhouse
An enormous steer named Knickers is said to be the tallest bovine in all of Australia. The 7-year-old male Holstein Friesian stands more than six-feet tall, towering over cows on the farm, and weighs almost one and a half tons. One might think Knickers would fetch a hefty price from a slaughterhouse when his time comes. But, no doubt to his relief, that time will never come. InsideEdition.com's Mara Montalbano ( has more.
Man is savagely beaten after asking teens to pick up their broken glass
A dog walker on the Isle of Wight was left bloodied and bruised on the street after young thugs attacked him - because he asked them to pick up the glass they were smashing in the road. Shocking footage shows a young male swinging a bottle at the dog walker before punching, mounting him and raining down blows on the victim's head in Cowes, last Thursday. The attacker is then pulled away by a female- before another female takes the victim's shoe.

The Isle of Wight // I liked it
I spent four days at the Isle of Wight with Family and friends! It was a very important weekend for someone close to me, remembering loved ones. All in all it was such a beautiful weekend and I love the little island! There’s so much to do there and I would definitely recommend catching the ferry and going exploring on another of the UK’s treasures.
Thanks for watching ????

Making Memories in Cowes - Whats Up Downunder Summer Series - Go Make Some Memories
Cowes is the main town on Phillip Island with a population of about 10,000 and is the perfect place to set up base while you make some memories at one of Victoria's most popular tourist hotspots.
However, this town really comes alive during holiday season and during the Phillip Island Grand Prix in October when 'The Island's' population multiplies many times over.
But even if motorsport isn't your thing, there is so much else to do and see in Cowes and on Phillip Island. With many spectacular surf beaches, breathtaking scenery to explore and of course the world-famous Fairy Penguins to see, Cowes and Phillip Island are incredible places to 'Go Make Some Memories' with your family and friends.
Pub-goers stranded in beer garden by tidal flooding in west London
Footage of pub patrons stranded in a beer garden during seasonal flooding in Twickenham. The high tide in the area often causes the River Thames to burst its banks and flood the area around the White Swan pub. Cars were left submerged while residents struggled to cross roads.
