A LITTLE HISTORY
Jackson's Steakhouse occupies the ground floor of the revitalized 1860s-era building that originally housed H. Pfeiffer & Company Mercantile. The building overlooks Plaza Ferdinand—where, in July 1821, General Andrew Jackson accepted the transfer of Florida from Spain to the United States and raised the American flag in Pensacola for the first time. He served briefly as governor of Florida and then returned to Tennessee with his wife Rachel. In 1828, Jackson was elected seventh president of the United States. In 1935, to commemorate this historic event, a bust of Jackson was commissioned and placed in Plaza Ferdinand.

In 1998, a group of like-minded entrepreneurs were inspired to renovate the old building and open a restaurant in honor of this American hero. The name of the restaurant would be Jackson's, with a re-creation of his signature serving as the logo and theme of the establishment. In keeping with this idea, since the restaurant overlooks the plaza where this moment in history occurred and where the bust of Jackson stands, they decided to create an atmosphere—from the handcrafted tree-branch light fixtures to the mural behind the bar—that would virtually put patrons in the park.

Walking on a nice beach, and almost stepping on a crab sure doesn't sound like an average day on the beach. But that's what happened.

On this episode I went beach treasure hunting in Florida. It's something I like to do on my off time.
Deep Hole! - Digging for Oil - BP Oil Spill - Pensacola, FL - Gulf Coast - Part 8
7/2/2010 - Gulf of Mexico / Pensacola, FL UPDATE! - Could this be the cover up conspiracy theory that some people are talking about? I am always a skeptic, but I take lots of theories into consideration when I see evidence for myself.
The sand is unusually yellow, you can tell where the sand isn't exposed to the waves and the sand is that grayish white by comparison.
I walked around a portion of the beach and examined some unusualy tracks from some kind of machinery that seems to be digging up sand and chopping up tarballs rather than picking them up!
I also dug some holes around the beach and found multiple layers of oil between every 4 to 5 inches of sand layers in places.
I've been quite busy with work and the Santa Rosa Roller Girls lately. I apologize to all my friends for lack of updates on this topic.

The Whale's Tail, Miramar Beach, Florida
Today we traveled once again to Miramar beach and decided to explore the Whale's Tail restaurant. Nestled along side the Gulf of Mexico the Whale's tail is a small quaint eatery that is part of the Seascape resort. We were greeted by a friendly staff and was seated Immediately. Although the official tourist season has ended here the restaurant was quite full and we were pleasantly surprised at the quick service.
The restaurant is reminiscent of a large gazebo which houses 2 levels. The top a large outdoor eating area which exploits an amazing view of the gulf. There is also a smaller inside eating which offers a bar and small gift shop. The ground level offers an outdoor bar which caters to the beach goers and provides picnic like tables for enjoying your beverage in the shade.
On this day parking was quite easy as we virtually pulled right up to the front door. Although space here is premium and probably really hard to park in the summer time. The best bet would be to get an Uber or prep yourself for a long walk. Prices here are on par with any other eating establishments you will find along the beach and can expect long waits in the peak tourist season.
THE PHANTOM OF THE AQUA:
Once we completed this video we learned a lot more about this mysterious boat. A story broke in the North West Florida Daily News, a local news paper in the Fort Walton Beach Area, that stated this was not a causality of Hurricane Irma but rather Hurricane Nate. (See the link below). According to the news release, the owner set sail somewhere from the United States in route to the Virgin Islands where he intended to distribute supplies to the victims of Hurricane Irma. While on the way he was forced to abandon the boat due to Hurricane Nate and was rescued by the Coast Guard. The boat eventually washed ashore where it is now. Some of the local good people have contacted the owner who is on his way here now and will be hosting a free the boat part for all volunteers who will be helping to dig the boat out and rescue her. It is an incredible story of people helping people and we want to wish the owner of the Phantom of the Aqua the best of luck and god speed as he will soon again set sail.
