20 Things to do in Kraków, Poland Travel Guide video transcript:
We kicked off this trip to Poland with a visit to Krakow, a city people have been telling us to visit for years and now we know why. Krakow in the summertime was wonderful! We spent our time enjoying castle views from the river side, exploring neighbourhoods covered in street art, eating some of the best pierogie of our lives, and also discovering what we think may be the best ice cream. The following is our travel guide to some of the best things to do in Krakow!
Wawel Castle is Krakow's crowning jewel, and for centuries it was the residence of the kings of Poland. You can see a mix of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque architecture all in one place.
While in the city, we also had to walk the Royal Route, which was once the historic coronation path of Polish kings.
After visiting the basilica, we spent a bit of time walking the Main Square, which just so happens to be Europe's largest medieval town square.
And that’s it for our visit to Krakow! We hope this video gave you a few ideas of things to do around the city. If you have any other places to add to this list or any tips for fellow travellers visiting Krakow feel free to share those.
This is part of our Travel in Poland video series showcasing Polish food, Polish culture, Polish cuisine while visiting Kraków Polska.

About me:
Hi, my name is Lana,
I come from the north of New Zealand.
I made the decision to quit my job as a nurse and go traveling. I enjoy slow travel and spending more time in each city to get a feel for the culture and how the locals truly live. Traveling can be hard when you don't have the information you need, especially as a tourist, the prices of things are usually heightened. My vlogs will show you how you too can travel cheaply, less touristy and how to travel full time.
My aim is to show you the realness of traveling and to give you the information that you need as a traveler.
So I hope you can follow me on my journey to see this lovely world of ours!

If you believe the legends, Kraków was founded on the defeat of a dragon, and it’s true a mythical atmosphere permeates its attractive streets and squares.
Wawel Castle is a major drawcard, while the Old Town contains soaring churches, impressive museums and the vast Rynek Główny, Europe’s largest market square. In the former Jewish quarter, Kazimierz, remnant synagogues reflect the tragedy of the 20th century, just as its lively squares and backstreets symbolise the renewal of the 21st. Here and throughout the Old Town are hundreds of restaurants, bars and clubs.
However, there’s more to the former royal capital than history and nightlife. As you walk through the Old Town, you’ll sometimes find yourself overwhelmed by the harmony of a quiet back street, the ‘just so’ nature of the architecture and light. It’s at times like these that Kraków reveals its harmonious blend of past and present, an essential part of any visit to Poland.

The Socialist Realist suburb of Nowa Huta is an interesting place to check out if you're visiting Krakow.
This unique neighborhood in Krakow is one of only two entirely pre-planned socialist realist cities in the world.
Wandering around Nowa Huta you'll find wide, tree-lined streets, lakes, parks, old churches, and plenty of communist architecture showcasing the deliberate social engineering done here.
Right now more than 200,000 people live in Nowa Huta and it's one of the most populous areas of Krakow.
To get to Nowa Huta take the Tram 4 from the Krakow Old Town. Get off at Plac Centralny, the Central Square in Nowa Huta.
It takes a few hours to explore all of the different things to do in Nowa Huta. It's definitely worth checking out, especially if you're interested in architecture and communist history.

TOUR OF KRAKOW (And So Many Pierogies) | Krakow, Poland
If we had to describe our time in Krakow with one word it would be: Pierogis.
Krakow ended up being one of our favorite cities, which came as a surprise as we ended up there mostly because we had wanted to go to Auschwitz the day before. Rich with history but full of energetic, youthful spirit, Krakow is definitely worth a visit.

¡NOS VAMOS A CRACOVIA! | Primera parte

Krakow Free Walk Tour Part 1
Kraków (Polish pronunciation: [ˈkrakuf] ( listen)) also Cracow, or Krakow (US English /ˈkrækaʊ/, British English /ˈkrækɒv/) is the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. Situated on the Vistula River (Polish: Wisła) in the Lesser Poland region, the city dates back to the 7th century.[1] Kraków has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Polish academic, cultural, and artistic life and is one of Poland's most important economic hubs. It was the capital of Poland from 1038 to 1569; the Polish--Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1569 to 1596;[2] Free City of Kraków from 1815 to 1846; the Grand Duchy of Cracow from 1846 to 1918; and Kraków Voivodeship from the 14th century to 1999. It is now the capital of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. source:

#PolishFood #KrakowFood #KrakowStreetFood #StreetFood #FoodVlogs
Consider this your essential Polish Food guide. Polish Street food is great, there is a large variety and all very delicious and fairly cheap. The best Polish street food can be found in Krakow, which is the most visited Polish city. The variety and selection of Polish food in Krakow is amazing. One of the best ways to experience Krakow is through the Polish food varieties and the Polish street food on offer. In this video we will take you on a tour of the best Polish street food options in Krakow.
Best Polish food in Krakow:
-Obwarzanki: There are street carts all over Krakow serving these inexpensive bagels. Usually served with poppy seeds, but also available topped with cheese or sesame seeds.
-Pierogi: This is the typical Polish Dumpling which can be found in most restaurants serving Polish Food in Krakow. Pierogi can be filled with either sweet or savoury fillings. You can also buy pierogi at the grocery store or markets, which you can make at home.
-Polish Donuts / Polish pączki: These are lighter and fluffier than American Donuts. These are cooked with a small amount of alcohol which results in less oil being absorbed.
-Zapiekanka at Plac Nowy: Zapiekanka is essentially a large piece of flat bread with various toppings, very similar to a Pizza.
-Żurek (a Polish Rye Soup): This is a bitter polish soup with egg and smoked sausage, often served in a bread bowl.
-Lody / Polish Ice Cream: There are so many ice cream shops in Krakow. The Polish ice cream has a higher fat content, so tends to be more creamy than in other countries. Well worth a try, especially during hot days. Here is a link to a blog with some good ice cream places:
Krakow has many excellent restaurants. There are many Michelin guide mentioned restaurants in Krakow. We went to three different restaurants. Here is the list of Michelin guide mentioned restaurants in Krakow:

Communism Tour in Krakow, Poland | A Walk Around Nowa Huta
In 1949 Poland's socialist government created Nowa Huta - a utopian prototype for the communist city of the future. It was a place of rapidly expanding industry including the largest steel mill in the country producing over 7 millions tons of steel annually and home to 100,000 people. Building the perfect city is no easy task and things didn't go completely to plan, as I found out when I took a walk around it in 2017.
