Little Things, Big Memories - Dumfries and Galloway's Family Experiences
You won’t believe how much family fun awaits in the south west of Scotland. Dumfries & Galloway is a place to splash, roll, explore and roam, but in between the thrills, there’s plenty of time to slow down and experience magical little moments – whether it’s finding that smooth shell as you explore the shoreline, or seeing the shining stars which carpet the sky when night falls.
Get an adrenaline rush at Galloway Activity Centre on Loch Ken, where you can get on the water to traverse the Wobbly Waterpark, or try kayaking, sailing, windsurfing or stand-up paddle boarding. At Laggan Outdoor, see the sparkling Solway Firth as you try water balling or harness up and fly down the hillside on the huge zipwire.
Ring the bell and journey across a loch to Threave Castle, one of the region’s many historic sites, and let your imagination take you back in time. Wander through avenues of blooming flora at one of the region’s many gardens, such as Logan Botanic Garden, or find your favourite sandy bay as you explore the region’s beaches - will you be brave enough for a paddle?!
Enjoy a taste of rural life at Mabie Farm Park and meet the four-legged residents, from donkeys to pot-bellied pigs, or take the reins and discover the joys of horseback riding at one of the region’s riding stables. Ice cream lovers can’t miss the chance to try innovative flavours at Cream o’ Galloway such as Cranachan and whisky, honey & oatmeal. Afterwards, burn off the energy on two wheels and take to one of the 7stanes centres to enjoy incredible mountain bike trails.
In Dumfries & Galloway, you’ll find it’s the little things which make big memories.
