Harlech’s battlements spring out of a near-vertical cliff-face. 'Men of Harlech.' The nation’s unofficial anthem, loved by rugby fans and regimental bands alike, is said to describe the siege which took place here during the War of the Roses, wherein a handful of men held out against a besieging army of thousands. Edward’s tried and tested ‘walls within walls’ model was put together in super-fast time between 1283 and 1295 by an army of nearly a thousand skilled craftsmen and labourers. - excerpt from

Brecon Beacons | Scrambling | Landscape Photography | Failed Bivvy
This was to have been my first bivvy and as you can see it didn't go to plan! Next time I will definitely be taking a mosquito net!
The idea was to go up on to the ridge between Rhos Dirion and Bal Mawr, via a tricky route, find somewhere to roll out the bivvy and then shoot the sunrise looking east along Darren Lwyd. Sounds straight forward but I fell at the first hurdle, insects. I can put up with insects, I am constantly being bitten especially from horse flies but this was something else! By the time I left I had eaten mouth fulls, there were in my ears, up nose, everywhere and anywhere!
The sunset was a bonus as there was a thick mist all evening looking west but I think that added to the colour.
Overall, a good route, great views and with the insects prepared for, a great place to bivvy.

England Vs Wales aerial footage
A short compilation of some of the footage I recorded at the England V Wales airsoft game, hosted by Mid Wales Airsoft at their fantastic site on the 23rd and 24th of April 2016.
I only managed to record in two areas, around the bunker on saturday afternoon and along the ridgeline on sunday morning, and most of the footage came from around the bunker. I used my Quantum F680 hexrotor aerial filming platform, named ARFUR Mk.III, fitted with a gimbal-stabilised Gopro 3+ Black camera.
Unfortunately it was quite windy, and ARFUR is a bit unstable in the yaw axis, so the footage does wobble from side to side somewhat. I already have plans to fit a 3 axis gimbal to ARFUR Mk.IV, along with higher capacity batteries for increased flight time and a twin operator system so the pilot can concentrate on flying while the camera operator keeps the camera pointing in the right direction. Trying to film and fly, whilst keeping an eye on the battery status and telemetry data, is quite tricky. :)
Many thanks to Tim and all the marshalls for assisting me whilst filming, and for putting on a fun weekend. Hopefully next time I'll be able to get more footage!

Webber's Post to Dunkery Beacon Walk | Exmoor
A walk from Webber's post to Dunkery Beacon. Due to an earlier incident that day, I was in quite a low mood but didn't want to waste a beautiful day. From Webber's post car park I head up the track over Easter hill , through Hollow combe and up to the Beacon.
I was struggling with my low mood but had to get to the top.
When I reached the top I found the Beacon had been fenced off, and restoration work was being done.

Valley-wood: How Hollywood has come to Wales
How Wales became popular as backdrop for Hollywood films By Matt Lloyd BBC Wales Wales has long sent its finest acting talent to Hollywood - but now the country itself is providing the backdrop for some movie magic. From Richard Burton and Sir Anthony Hopkins to Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Sheen, Wales has long graced the silver screen. But now the country is becoming an increasingly popular movie location. Mark Wahlberg's new flick, Infinite, and the upcoming Wonder Woman movie are just the latest films shot in Wales. Wales has become used to seeing production crews on our streets and countryside shooting TV dramas such as Dr Who, The Crown and Sex Education, which recently returned to the Wye Valley and Caerleon for the second series. Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda revealed his new love for the Brecon Beacons, Hay-on-Wye and Caerphilly Castle after filming His Dark Materials. But with stunning natural scenery, a skilled local workforce and co-operative local authorities, Hollywood has also taken notice. A stunt for Wahlberg's new film is closing part of Cardiff city centre for two days, from midnight Saturday. Filming has already taken place at Swallow Falls in Snowdonia for Wonder Woman 1984, due to be released June 2020. Next year will also see the release of Dream Horse, the story of a community-owned racehorse Dream Alliance, which was shot almost entirely in south Wales. Much has been done in conjunction with Wales Screen, part of the Welsh Government's creative industries team, and Ffilm Cymru Wales. We work with all types of film and TV productions encouraging them to use locations, crew and facilities throughout Wales, said a Wales Screen spokeswoman. Wales is really making its mark on the small screen too [so] it's such an exciting time for production in Wales. In addition to raising the profile of Wales as a filming location, film and TV productions funded by Welsh Government account for spend in excess of £100m in Wales, creating over 2,000 full time equivalent job and benefiting local supply chains and hundreds of businesses. One of those businesses is Red Dragons Flagmakers in Clydach, near Swansea. Founder Jo Ashburner Farr said: The rise of Wales as a filming location has been fantastic for Wales and a is now a big part of our business. The film production network in Wales is growing all the time which is helping Welsh businesses employ and up-skill local people. Ten Blockbusters Filmed in Wales Transformers: The Last Knight Infinite is the first Mark Wahlberg film to shoot in Wales. The battle scenes in the fifth instalment of the Transformers franchise - with a budget of $215m - were filmed at Ystrad Quarry, Blaenau Gwent. Captain America: First Avenger A former MoD training camp at Caerwent, Monmouthshire, was transformed for the external shots of the 'Hydra' compound where Bucky, played by Sebastian Stan) is held captive.. Filming coincided with Newport hosting the Ryder Cup, which actors Samuel L J

AMAZING bad weather for landscape photography in Snowdonia
Snowdonia in Northern Wales is perfect for epic landscape photography. If you manage to get some bad weather with showers and low clouds you're in luck for creating some spectacular photos. In this episode we'll visit the Lone Tree, The Boat House at Llyn Ogwen, A view towards the mountain Tryfan and I'll tell the story about my hikes to the top of the Glyders. We will start out at Tintern Abbey in Southern Wales. As always the video is full of tips and tricks in regard to composition, light and practical stuff related to photography. In many ways this video could work as a landscape photography tutorial.
