40 Beverly Park Circle, Beverly Hills, California, United States
10 beds 14 baths 22,967 sqft
The Home Was Listed for: $45,000,000 and It Was Sold for $32,000,000 in March of 2018 After a Few Months on the Market.
This grand French Chateau style mega mansion is located at 40 Beverly Park Circle in the prestigious guard-gated Beverly Park community in Beverly Hills, CA and is situated on 2 landscaped acres.
Ten bedrooms, 14 bathrooms,27,000 square feet (yes, of actual living space)—all of them oozing the kind of over-the-top lavishness that one would expect from Richard Landry, the man whose name is synonymous with ridiculously large houses made for people with too much money.
The French Chateau style mansion, tucked onto just under two acres in gated megamansions playground Beverly Park, it was built in 2008 and hit the market that same year with a $45-million price tag; it sold in 2009 for just $31.5 million. (Just!) That's a steal for all the totally necessary features the house includes, like a two-story foyer, ballroom, library with glass floor, home theater, 2,500-bottle wine cellar, and indoor swimming pool.
There's also a six-car garage, multiple water features, and an outdoor pool. The estate is asking a much-deserved $45 million.

The Mesquite Community Loses an Education Icon
It is with great sadness the Mesquite ISD announces the passing of one of the district's finest educators and leaders, Dr. Ralph H. Poteet. It was through Dr. Poteet's vision and planning that Mesquite ISD developed into one of the most innovative school systems in Texas. During his 22-year tenure as superintendent, 30 new buildings were constructed, MISD launched a public school television station (the second one in the state), the first public school radio station in Texas (KEOM) went on the air, and one of the first school planetariums was opened.
Born in Desdemona, Texas, in 1926, Dr. Poteet grew up in Stephenville and graduated from Stephenville High School in 1944. He was a starting fullback for the Yellow Jackets for three years and received a football scholarship to play at Southwestern University in Georgetown. After his freshman year there, Poteet entered the Army to serve in World War II. He returned from the Army in 1947 and completed his degree in 1949.
Long known for his effective management and organizational skills, Dr. Poteet developed a reputation as a model educator among his contemporaries during his 31 years of service in the MISD system. He came to Mesquite as a teacher and head football coach for Mesquite High School in 1955. In 1960 he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent for Business and was named Superintendent in 1964.
Dr. Poteet was a model of community service. He helped organize Keep Mesquite Beautiful and served six years on the board of directors for that group. During his tenure, Mesquite won the designation of Tree City USA and the Governor's Community Achievement Award. KidsQuest, a community playground built with volunteer labor and donated funds, stands as a monument to community involvement. Dr. Poteet served as co-chairman for the project, overseeing more than 2,000 volunteers. Other community service endeavors included membership in the Chamber of Commerce for more than 30 years, founding member of the Mesquite Arts Council and board member for Christian Care Centers, where he also spent time ministering to residents of the Mesquite location. He was also a deacon and active member in the Mesquite Church of Christ.
Even after retirement, Dr. Poteet continued to support students by volunteering in elementary schools and attending numerous student activities at his namesake high school. Dr. Ralph H. Poteet High School, MISD's fourth high school, was opened in 1986. Dr. Poteet is survived by his wife, Anne, daughter, Carole, son-in-law Steve Tipton and three grandsons.

A National Conversation on Civility - Live from George Washington University
As we approach the 2018 midterm elections, our political system and national rhetoric are more polarized than ever. Listen to moderator Scott Simon, award-winning host of National Public Radio's Weekend Edition Saturday, along with Dr. Jonathan Haidt, NYU-Stern School of Business, Sally Kohn, author of The Opposite of Hate, Dr. Arthur C. Evans, Jr., CEO of the American Psychological Association, and Dr. Carolyn J. Lukensmeyer, Executive Director of the National Institute for Civil Discourse, have a thought-provoking conversation on the importance of civility, why it has broken down - and why it's necessary for solving major challenges confronting our nation.

From Persistence to Power: Facts, Truth, & Equity for Women (Part 3)
In June 2017 the Institute for Women's Policy Research, the Spelman College Women's Research & Resource Center, and the Wellesley Centers for Women at Wellesley College joined together to host a research forum for change makers in Washington, D.C. Leading researchers, advocates, practitioners, and policymakers convened at this day-long program and left with a better understanding of the complex issues underlying the current social and political climate, empowered with research and resources to strengthen their fight for equity and influence.
Panels considered gender while focusing on: the intersectionality of race, religion, and immigration; child care and leave polices; income equality and labor markets; and health, wellbeing, violence, and safety.
This video includes Panel Three: Gender Violence and Title IX featuring Sarah Gonzalez Bocinski, M.A., of the Institute for Women's Policy Research; Susannah Baruch, J.D., of the Wellesley Centers for Women Council of Advisors; Jessica Davidson, B.A., of End Rape on Campus; and Nan Stein, Ed.D., of the Wellesley Centers for Women followed by a midday keynote address by Commissioner Charlotte A. Burrows of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
