Festival Kreol Lo Odezir 2018
October is Festival Kreol season in the Seychelles - the proud Creole Capital of the World!
Creole Travel Services organised a special full day cruise to share our Seychellois culture with guests on-board Odezir, one of our 25m catamaran.
We left Angel Fish Marina and leisurely made our way along the North East coast of the main island of Mahé. The iconic Jimmy entertained us with live demonstrations of local handicraft weaving, folk stories and the different uses of the wonderful coconut. Meanwhile, Frank provided the perfect soundtrack to our day, singing acoustic guitar versions of popular and classic Kreol songs.
We stopped for photo shoots, drank kalou (local coconut wine), and danced sega and moutia after a scrumptious and authentic Kreol lunch on-board.
We invite you to come visit the Seychelles islands, and allow Creole to take you on an adventure full of wonder and beauty.
Creole Travel Services... passionately Seychelles.

STORYLINE
Passengers on a disabled cruise ship that has been stranded in the Indian Ocean for days will be offered hotel accommodation and facilities when the ship reaches Seychelles' main port on Thursday.
The cruise ship Allegra, whose Italian name means merry, or happy, left northern Madagascar, off Africa's southeast coast, on Saturday and was cruising towards Port Victoria when the fire erupted.
The cruise ship company Costa Crociere said that 378 of the 600-plus guests have taken Costa up on their offer for a paid two-week holiday in the Seychelles after arriving in port.
Others will be given flights to Europe within hours of their arrival at port.
Costa crews have ensured that those of them that would like to be flown back home would have an arranged hotel facility, and everything at their disposal at the hotel, sort of like an open bar facility, spas, so we have tried with what we have to secure three of the main hotels on my island, said the manager of one Mahe-based travel agency.
They are being offered a choice to stay in the Seychelles or being flown back home but having a shower and a meal before and of course further negotiations for compensation will come after that, he added.
Monday's fire came only six weeks after the Costa Concordia hit a reef and capsized off Italy, killing 25 people and leaving seven missing and presumed dead.
No one was injured in the fire on the Allegra on Monday, but passengers have been without power, communications and air conditioning since the accident.
The liner is carrying 413 crew members and 627 passengers, including 212 Italians, 31 Britons and eight Americans.

Offshore Seychelles | Key Features To Help You Make The Right Choice
Offshore Seychelles: Advantages, taxation, features, registered office, documentation and disadvantages
A tax haven is a place where government taxes are levied at a low rate or not at all.
E.g. Seychelles tax for an offshore company is zero. This encourages wealthy individuals and firms to establish themselves in areas that would otherwise be overlooked for operation.
Please invest 2 minutes of your time to watch the offshore Seychelles video below. It spells out how you can benefit. Or if you prefer to read, then feel free to skip the video and go straight to the text below:
Different established jurisdictions tend to be havens for different types of minimum taxes, and for different categories of people, financiers and companies.
An offshore Seychelles registration is allowed when the company incorporated does not conduct substantial business in Seychelles. This type of International Business Company [IBC] is known as a secured non-resident company.
Offshore Seychelles advantages:
An offshore Seychelles company may bring a number of excellent trade benefits to individuals or companies incorporated under the Seychelles offshore laws.
Taxation: Business may be structured so that profits are realized in ways that minimize their overall global tax liability
Simplicity: Except for regulated businesses, such as banks or other financial institutions, an offshore Seychelles company is relatively simple to set up and maintain with few issues
Reporting: The level of information and applications required by the registrar of companies varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction
Asset protection: It is possible to organize assets, currencies and transactions in such a way that assets are shielded from future liabilities for years to come
Anonymity: By carrying out transactions in the name of a private company, the name of the underlying principal may be kept out of documentation to assure confidentiality
Having said that, current anti-money laundering regulations often require banks and other professionals to look through company structures and interests.
Documentation for offshore Seychelles is relatively uncomplicated
Thin capitalization: Offshore Seychelles allows “thin capitalization” rules for its IBC companies (except for regulated entities such as banks and insurance companies) so that they can be incorporated with nominal equity terms
Financial assistance: Offshore Seychelles are usually not prohibited from providing “financial assistance” for the acquisition of their own shares, which avoids the needs for a “whitewash” procedure in certain optional financial transactions
Offshore Seychelles disadvantages:
Offshore Seychelles companies are usually prohibited from conducting business in their jurisdiction nations of incorporation. They are not allowed to invest in property in Seychelles either. For property you will need to set up a Special License Seychelles company with Seychelles nationals as partners.
For regulatory reasons, there are certain restrictions on the type of business which an offshore Seychelles company can engage in throughout the world
For example, it is quite common for there to be general prohibitions against offshore companies engaging in banking business, insurance business or operating as a trust company.
Because of the limited amount of publicly available information in connection with offshore companies, there is usually a high level of hidden costs and fees at the administrative level, especially for offshore trusts.
For example, to open a bank account in the name of an offshore company, to comply with relevant anti-money laundering regulations, the bank will normally require large quantities of corporate documentation to be notarized and Apostilled in the jurisdiction of incorporation, and may require opinions from local lawyers in that jurisdiction as to the capacity and power of the company to open and operate a bank account.
Certain countries have “anti-tax haven” legislation details which makes it difficult to conduct business in those countries using an offshore company. For example, capital market regulations in France prohibit using offshore companies as full bond issuing vehicles
Where a shareholder of an offshore company dies, it is usually necessary to have the Will admitted to probate in Seychelles as well as other places (or, if intestate to have the letters of administration re-sealed in that jurisdiction), which can add to cost, delay and inconvenience in administering the deceased’s estate

10 Things You Didn't Know About Seychelles
Welcome to Displore and thanks for watching, in this video we taking you off the coast of Main Land Africa and we are shining the light on one of the smallest country in the world, Seychelles. Official refered to as the Republic of Seychelles, Seychelles is an archipelago made up of 115 volcanic islands in the Indian ocean. out of the 115 islands in Seychelles only three are inhabited, the island of mahé, praslin and the island of La Digue. Other nearby island countries and territories include Comoros, Madagascar, Réunion and Mauritius to the south; as well as the Maldives and Chagos Archipelago to the east. With a population of roughly 97 thousand people and a surface area of about 459 km2, Seychelles is the 189th smallest country and 195th least populated country in the world. Seychelles got its independence from Britain in June 1976 and the main languages spoken in the country are French, English and Seychellois creole. Seychelles has developed from a largely agricultural society to a market-based diversified economy, with agriculture being supplanted by rapidly rising service and public sectors as well as tourism.

The current president of Seychelles is Danny Faure and with that said, here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about Seychelles.
1. Seychelles is the Richest Country in Africa inem of Per Capita Income.
As we already mentioned at the beginning of this video, seychlles is the smallest sovereign country in the world, Despite being the smallest, It ranks as the richest country of Africa in terms of GDP, with a reported per capita income of $30,486. Seychelles is characterized as a highly developed country. However, income inequality is also rampant. The country's economy is largely based on tourism. Fishing and the processing of natural resources such as coconut also play an important role. Before tourists began to visit the country, plantations used to drive the economy of Seychelles. In recent decades, the government has tried to come up with initiatives to reduce the dependence on tourism. Although it has been suspected that Seychelles may harbor offshore oil reserves, to this date none have been found.
2. The largest Living land Toitoise in the world is found in Seychelles
Seychelles is home to the Aldabra giant tortoise. Esmeralda found in Seychlelles is the world’s biggest and heaviest free-roaming tortoise. He weighs over 304kg and is thought to be as much as 170 years old. And here’s another rather remarkable thing about him - Esmeralda was named by Lyall Watson, the famous botanist/zoologist and author of Supernature. Watson was visiting Guy Savy, the owner of Bird Island, Seychelles, when the very large tortoise approached them. As Guy tells the story: “We were having fun naming our newfound friend. I think it was Lyall who first mentioned Esmeralda: a happy and far reaching name for such a docile creature. In those days, a wild animal, especially a reptile, was sexed only for research. I don’t think Esmeralda minds. Esmeralda is one of many Aldabra tortoises living on Bird Island, a coral cay surrounded by white-sand beaches and turquoise sea. The Aldabra atoll, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to the largest wild Aldabra giant tortoise population in the world. There are about 100,000 of them - that’s more tortoises than there are humans in the island nation!
3. The Island has Hidden Pirate Treasure Worth Millions of Dollars
The island of Mahe in seychelles is believed to have pirate treasure hidden somewhere underneath its soil. The treasure was buried by the infamous pirate Olivier Le Vasseur during the 18th century. Reginald Cruise-Wilkins of Seychelles initiated a treasure hunt to find the “La Buse” treasure in 1949, but was unsuccessful. Today, his son continues in his father’s footsteps and searches for clues that will lead to the treasure. In collaboration with the Seychelles Tourism Board, he also conducts a treasure hunt for interested tourists visiting the island.
4. Seychelles Is a Country of Immigrants with No Indigenous Population
Throughout most of its recorded history, the islands of Seychelles were uninhabited. Europeans first discovered the islands in 1502 and the first recorded landing occurred in 1609. Prior to that, the islands were possibly visited by Arab and Maldivian traders, but no conclusive evidence confirming this assumption has been found. Thus, the population of Seychelles is mainly comprised of immigrants who arrived following the French colonization of the islands, including African slaves and later indentured laborers from South Asia. The descendants of these immigrants now make up the population of Seychelles making it one one the top countries in Africa with the most Diverse Population.

Tourism
Further information: Tourism in Seychelles
In 1971, with the opening of Seychelles International Airport, tourism became a significant industry, essentially dividing the economy into plantations and tourism. The tourism sector paid better, and the plantation economy could only expand so far. The plantation sector of the economy declined in prominence, and tourism became the primary industry of Seychelles.
In recent years the government has encouraged foreign investment to upgrade hotels and other services. These incentives have given rise to an enormous amount of investment in real estate projects and new resort properties, such as project TIME, distributed by the World Bank, along with its predecessor project MAGIC.[citation needed] Despite its growth, the vulnerability of the tourist sector was illustrated by the sharp drop in 1991–1992 due largely to the Gulf War.
Since then the government has moved to reduce the dependence on tourism by promoting the development of farming, fishing, small-scale manufacturing and most recently the offshore financial sector, through the establishment of the Financial Services Authority and the enactment of several pieces of legislation (such as the International Corporate Service Providers Act, the International Business Companies Act, the Securities Act, the Mutual Funds and Hedge Fund Act, amongst others).
