Here I decided to visit Cressing Temple Barns, near Witham, Essex, England.
Built by the medieval order of Knights Templar, the site contains the world`s oldest timberframed barn, and much else of a spiritual nature.

Temple At War - 14th & 15th May 2016 - Cressing Temple Barns, Braintree.
In it's second year, Temple at War is excited to announce its return to the impressive setting of Cressing Temple Barns, Braintree, Essex.
This outstanding military show will be hosting more re enactors and military vehicles, provide more entertainment, trader and vendor stalls. A whole lot more for the public to see and do.
The shows unique signature activity, the TAW sniper, will be returning to suppress the German advance. There will also be several dramatic battles throughout the weekend using modern pyrotechnic effects based on actual historic events.
Cressing Temple is a fascinating ancient moated farmstead boasting the oldest recorded timber-framed barns in the world. These buildings and the superb walled garden will provide a vast variety of stalls with traders selling everything from militaria, sweets, vintage clothing, and retro crafts
Temple at War will offer you a unique opportunity to take some great photographs and experience what life was like during the various conflicts whether on the home front or battlefront. You will be able to interact at close hand with British, German, American, French and Russian re-enactors spanning 100 years of warfare from WW1 right through to the Cold War. There will be an enormous range of military vehicles, equipment, weaponry and day to day artefacts from the various eras represented.
Returning on stage will be the spectacular girl group, the Hotsie Totsies and A2 Jive along side other themed and spontaneous entertainment. So bring your picnic, or buy something to eat or drink from the numerous vendors at the event and immerse yourself into war time Britain.
If 2016 is anything like 2015, then arrive early and stay late, as there will be so many activities throughout the entire day to see and do.
The Temple at War Team believe in offering exceptional value for money. Advance discounted tickets can be bought online before the event and once inside the show all the military activities and shows are free.
Temple at War caters for everyone with an interest in history and is family friendly. The Cressing Temple Barn complex provides superb disabled facilities and a huge free carpark.
Unfortunately, only assistance hearing or guide dogs are permitted within the show ground.
