Creswick Woollen Mills - 70th Anniversary
Creswick Woollen Mills celebrates their 70 years anniversary by winning the RACV Victorian Tourism award for best Tourist Attraction. It is now the only remaining woollen coloured spinning mill of its type left in Australia.
Creswick Woollen Mills proudly designs in Australia a range of knitwear, accessories and homewares with a focus on natural fibres. Soft and luxurious to touch, natural fibres are unsurpassed in breathability. The purchase of a natural fibre product is a long-term investment in quality and comfort.
Conveniently located between Ballarat and Daylesford, the mill is the perfect destination for day-trippers, holiday makers and tour groups, both large and small. The newly opened café is a great place to relax with a cup of coffee and cake.
The Creswick Woollen Mills’ interactive exhibit “A VERY FINE YARN” showcases the journey of fibre; all the way from its source on the alpaca, through to the manufacturing process and how it ends up on the shop shelf. The exhibit gives a great insight into how luxurious fibres are processed.
The highlight of every visit includes getting up close and personal with the alpacas and their friends, which include cashmere goats and merino sheep.
Creswick Woollen Mills
Creswick Woollen Mills has recently opened a new, fully interactive visitor experience A Very Fine Yarn. Founded in 1947, Creswick Woollen Mills is the only coloured woollen spinning mill of its type in Australia.
Located in Creswick, a small township 122 kilometres North West of Melbourne. This new visitor experience showcases the journey of fibre, from its source, through the manufacturing process and finally to the shop shelf.
The exhibit gives great insight into natural fibre, how luxurious fibres are processed and gives visitors a chance to see Australian manufacturing as it happens. Meet our resident Alpacas and purchase Australian products made at the mill.
Open 7 days a week, our interpretive tours take place at 11am, 12pm, 1pm & 2pm.

Creswick Woollen Mills on The Today Show
Creswick Woollen Mills were thrilled to host Channel 9’s The Today Show live in Creswick on April 18.
Natalia Cooper ran six live weather crosses from the last remaining coloured woollen spinning mill in Australia, and featured various areas of the Mill in each cross – from the original machinery to the animal enclosure.
Wearing Creswick’s made in Melbourne cashmere wool hooded duffle coat, along with a gorgeous possum fibre beanie, and wool scarf, Natalia looked the part in the early hours of a chilly morning in Creswick.
Delightful and gracious, Natalia spent time with sibling owners, Boaz and Sharon Herszfeld, Creswick Woollen Mill staff, including Site Manager Michael Sloper, Farmer Cameron and local visitors, including children from the local primary school.
