Crimdon beach by drone. Co Durham UK.
Part of Co Durham 'Heritage coast'. Badly polluted by coal mining, the local authority have done a brilliant job of cleaning it up, hopefully time will finish the job. Wanted to do a bit of a longer range flight this time but it was a lot windier than the forecast predicted. Not a very nice beach either with campfire remnants, plastic bags, bottles, cans, doggie poop bags etc all over the place, shame really it's quite a sun trap in the Westerley wind. First time I gave Sports Mode a good try - for the last leg of the flight.

Durham Heritage Coast: Turning the Tide
The Durham Coast suffered environmental degradation from 100 years of colliery spoil tipping. The Turning the Tide programme, funded by the Millennium Commission, removed tonnes of spoil from the coastline and reclaimed land. Improved access for communities and visitors was made possible by the creation of the Durham Coastal Footpath, enabling people to walk the coast for the first time; new grassland open areas were also created by for everyone to enjoy.
