Crimean Vacation. Timelapses and Fragments from Our Week in Yalta Intourist (No Narration)
I recently had the pleasure of spending a week in Yalta, Crimea with my my wife and kids. Usually we're extremely active when we travel, opting to cover long distances and head off the beaten path (I actually have a video on the perfect way to see Europe with little kids in the works!), but after an unusually difficult few months at work, we decided to switch things up and... stay completely put.
So after arriving in Crimea and making the two hour drive from Simferopol to Yalta, we pretty much spent the entirety of our time exploring the beach and the grounds of our hotel - which we absolutely fell in love with, the Yalta Intourist. Our kids couldn't get enough of the on-territory water park, the exotic animal zoo and the various entertainment programs, while my wife and I loved the all inclusive dining and amenities... but most of all, we LOVED the view, which reminds me quite a bit of one of my absolute favorite places in the world, the Amalfi Region in Italy, along with Salerno and Sorrento.
Take a look for yourself and tell me what you think - there's no commentary in this video since I initially shot everything in Russian for home use, but after looking over the footage, I decided it would be unfair to keep it to myself, especially the Time lapse with the star trails at the beginning!
Anyway, it's getting colder in Moscow now, but memories of Crimea continue to warm my heart, and we'll certainly be coming back in the future - next time for a road trip of the entire Crimean coast! To those of you choosing between Crimea and Sochi - You can't say that you've been to the perfect Russian Vacation destination until you've seen both! :)
Thank you very much for watching! And stay warm this Fall and Winter season. If you enjoyed the video, it would be great if you'd subscribe for more! Also, I'd love to hear your ideas on what you'd like to see me film in Russia, or otherwise!
Filmed in 4K UHD and 4k60 on the DJI OSMO Action and on the Nikon Z6 mirrorless camera, mostly handheld, with periodic assistance from the Zhiyun Crane 3 :)

Simferopol Part III - eating in the city.
We were only in Simferopol for one day so we only had the opportunity to eat out once. We went to a place called Porter House and ordered Shashlik. We reckon that it was the best that we've tasted anywhere. We have been back home for three weeks and I still dribble when I look at this video!

Repression In Crimea Muslims Under Threat
Abdureshyd Dzhepparov, a member of the Crimean Contact Group on Human Rights, became a victim of the annexation of Crimea. His son Isliam Dzhepparova and the son of his sister Zorem Zhevdet were kidnapped in the village of Bilohirsk, not far from Simferopol. They still haven’t been found. It was explained to Abdureshyd Dzhepparov that the fate of the kidnapped son and nephew will depend “on their behavior”. But two years later, nobody knows whether the kidnapped are alive or not.
Currently 12 people in Crimea are under arrest. About 15 searches were held in February. “A search” sounds rather natural, but it’s more like an attack on property. They usually do it in the early morning, when children are sleeping. They usually break windows and doors, invade houses, put handcuffs on owners, then they start talking and smiling and pretend to behave correctly, says Abdureshydom Dzhepparov.
In Nyzhnohirsk, Crimea, Anna Bogacheva dressed in a hijab met with us. She is the wife of Vadym Siruk who was arrested on February 12.
“What did he do? He didn’t kill or insult anybody, didn’t steal anything. They arrested him for no reason. They argue that in Russia such things are forbidden…But what is forbidden? Being a Muslim?” says Anna.
Emil Kurbedinov, a lawyer of Vadym Siruk: None of the eight arrested people received a notice to appear to the Federal Security Service. If there had been such a notice and they hadn’t come, their arrest would have been more or less justified. The searches looked more like attacks on property and arrests... I think that the process of repression and intimidation of the Crimean Muslims is happening
