Crocs in the wild - Whitsunday Crocodile Safari
Tourism Whitsundays International Tourism Manager Lachlan Rentell discovers the wild side to the Whitsundays on the Proerpine River Eco Tour Crodoile Safari. The Estuarine (Saltwater) crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) is found in warm climates. In Australia, they are restricted to northern parts of the continent, from about Rockhampton on the east coast of Queensland to Broome on the west coast of Western Australia. Estuarine crocodiles are the largest of living crocodilians and quite probably the largest living reptiles on earth. They have broader snouts than freshies with an uneven up and down jaw line and irregular sized teeth. They vary in colour from grey, olive-brown to almost black, with ragged dark mottling. Males can grow to 7 metres (23 feet) but most are less than 5 metres. Females are usually less than 4 metres in length and may begin nesting at about 12 years of age. Maximum lifespan is unknown however it is estimated that they can live for at least 70 to 100 years.

It was a nice experience, but a bit disappointing, we paid to much, by the way it was a new experience :)
E' stata un esperienza carina, ma un po deludente, abbiamo pagato troppo, ma comunque un esperienza.

Whitsunday Crocodile Safari
Whitsunday Crocodile Safari holds advanced eco certification with Ecotourism Australia, is a Green Travel Leader, has TQual endorsement, and has been operating since 2000. The land we travel through is privately owned, and we are the only commercial tourism operator on the Proserpine River. The sound of nature is our background noise and you will feel like you are miles away from civilization, deep in the Australian bush -- although only 30 minutes from Airlie Beach.

Big Crocodiles of Proserpine River Andysfishing Andy's Fishing Giant Crocodile Video EP.235
I cruise up the Proserpine river and in just 2 hours I see many big crocodiles as well as heaps of giant and huge ones as well as a few small crocs. One big crocodile I estimate at 4.6m an many more around the 3 to 4m meter mark. It’s incredible how close you can get to wild crocodile and how many there are are in this one river, the Proserpine river, not very far from the Whitsunday Islands and Airlie Beach, a tourist mecca for thousands every year!

Proserpine River Croc spotting
4 Crocs within 30m of one another...1 baby and 3 over 3m...
Spotting crocs was more fun than the fishing on this particular day.
I found the differences in colours between them all amazing.
Last of the dinosaurs... so cool

This video was shot, edited and narrated all in the same day so I did not have much time for colour correction or to record the VO in a proper sound room. There are a few mistakes that I missed, especially in the narration... can you spot them?

I take a trip up the crocodile infested Proserpine River in far north Queensland, Australia. This river has the largest crocodile/area population. I traveled miles up a small river outlet and found an abundance of crocs. I saw over a dozen in my short trip, most bigger than my boat (10foot aluminium punt).
The river was covered in debris and would clog up in the propeller causing the boat to stop mid stream. There were some anxious moments leaning out of the boat over the merky water to clean the propeller. One large croc actually hit the boat as it dived underneath it. I was happy with the trip and got more than close enough to the crocodiles.
