South African navy diver Paul Whilley entered a tankful of Nile
crocodiles on Wednesday (29/6) to begin his attempt to set a world

hours. Whilley, 26, dived into the specially prepared Crocworld
aquarium tank near Scottburgh in KwaZulu-Natal province shortly
before 11 a.m. (0900 GMT) on Wednesday. The eight crocodiles, aged
between four and five years old, are between 1.8 and two metres

for six hours in every 24 hours to recuperate. A medical team was
on stand-by, including a helicopter to fly Whilley to hospital

Martin Rodrigues the manager of Crocworld Conservation Centre catches a wild, 3 meter Southern African Python.
Earlier this month Crocworld Conservation Centre was alerted by the manager of a neighbouring sugar cane farm, that his workers encountered the large Southern African Python and was worried his workers would kill it.
The Python is currently being temporarily housed at Crocworld Conservation Centre (a permit has been obtained from KZN Wildlife to temporarily rehabilitate the python for 3 months) after which the Python will be released in the vicinity where it was found. The special permit is required because the Southern African Python is protected under TOPS (The threatened or Protected Species Act).

Black mamba on beach
RARE ENCOUNTER & CAPTURE OF BLACK MAMBA ON SCOTTBURGH BEACH
A 2.8 metre Black Mamba was sighted just North of Scottburgh’s main beach, in front of the Cutty Sark Hotel, on Thursday 8 February around 18h00. A male teenager who was jogging on the shore of the popular beach nearly stumbled upon the venomous reptile.
Owen and Nadi Kuyper, who were going for an evening swim, alerted Crocworld Conservation Centre’s Manager Martin Derek Rodrigues. Rodrigues, a highly experienced herpetologist and snake catcher immediately responded. He managed to safely capture the snake, which was released back into its natural environment today Friday 9 February.
The Kuypers managed to capture footage of the rare incident on their cellphone. According to Rodrigues, it was the first time that he has seen a Black Mamba captured on a beach.
Rodrigues said that it was possible that due to the extremely hot weather, the snake was cooling down on the shore or having a drink of salty water. It may have been tired or caught up in the waves.
“When I tried to catch the snake, I noticed a lot of water coming out of its mouth so it may have swallowed quite a bit of sea water,” added Rodrigues.
