To find out more about this Cheshire town, we asked Leanne Feeley, our Sales Manager for the North West, to share her thoughts…
Rich in History
Although Warrington is designated as a ‘new town’ under the New Towns Act 1946, I think it would be important to mention that Warrington is rich with history. It was founded by the Romans, and in the Middle Ages it became a market town when the local tradition of textiles and tools production was founded.
The Cheshire town also had a part to play during the English Civil War. It has been told that Oliver Cromwell stayed near a building which still survives today, now a delicious Indian restaurant called the Cottage Restaurant, housed in a Tudor building on Church Street. Speaking of historic figures, Lewis Carroll, author of ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ is also considered to be one of Warrington’s own. His books can be read at Warrington Central Library – the first tax-supported library in the country.
For an eclectic mix of history and culture, Warrington Museum and Art Gallery has plenty to offer as one of the oldest museums in the country – open in 1857 and home to 20,000 objects. Just one visit here will give you a history lesson of Warrington like no other. The museum can be enjoyed by all ages and it is a great way to get children involved in history with free craft activities held every Saturday.
For the Whole Family
Warrington is the perfect hub for family days out and has something for everyone to enjoy. The town has its very own theme park, Gulliver’s World, which boasts 80 rides, suitable for toddlers and children aged three to 10 and onwards. Certainly a great place to take the children if you are looking for ideas over the school holidays or on the weekends. There is also Apple Jacks Adventure Park which will be no end of fun for children – open on weekends and during the school holidays. You can take part in a game of crazy golf, try your hand at archery or take on the challenge of the Massive Maize Maze!
If you are looking for something a little more scenic, Walton Hall and Gardens makes for a great day out - nominated for the prestigious title of UK’s Best Park. Well kept gardens with plenty of green space for children to run around, it even has a small children’s zoo. You can then round the day off in the best way: with tea and cake in the café.
Shop ‘Til You Drop
Woodville Place is incredibly unique as it is built on what was once the largest airfield for the US Airforce outside of the states during World War II. The location of Burtonwood RAF holds a lot of history and is certainly an interesting talking point if you are asked about where you live. The new neighbourhood of two, three and four bedroom homes is situated on the edge of a beautiful 35-acre park which features brand new shopping and leisure facilities. I think this will be fantastic for potential homeowners at Woodville Place - not to mention that Warrington City Centre is just three miles away. We also have Ikea on your doorstep as Warrington is home to the first store in Britain, built in 1987; perfect for all your interior decorating needs. A lot of consideration has gone into the location of our Warrington development with excellent transport links, cycle paths and easy access to the M62 for daily commutes.

Places to see in ( Horsforth - UK )
Horsforth is a suburb and civil parish within the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, in West Yorkshire, England, lying about five miles north west of Leeds city centre. Historically within the West Riding of Yorkshire, it has a population of 18,895 according to the 2011 Census
Horsforth was considered to have the largest population of any village in the United Kingdom during the latter part of the 19th century. It became part of the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in 1974, and became a civil parish with town council in 1999. The electoral ward of Horsforth also includes the southern part of Rawdon.
Horsforth was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Horseford, Horseforde, Hoseforde; but late-ninth-century coins with the legend ORSNA FORD and OHSNA FORD may have come from Horsforth. The name derives from Old English hors or, to judge from the coins, *horsa ('horse') in the genitive plural form horsa/horsna + ford 'ford', thus meaning 'horses' ford'. This refers to a river crossing on the River Aire that was subsequently used to transport woollen goods to and from Pudsey, Shipley and Bradford. The original ford was situated off Calverley Lane, but was replaced by a stone footbridge at the turn of the 19th century.
Horsforth railway station is on the Harrogate Line between Harrogate and Leeds. The station is just outside the Horsforth parish boundary, on the Cookridge side of Moseley Beck. Newlay station, which was built by the Midland Railway, was renamed Newlay & Horsforth station in 1889. It was situated south of the River Aire and was accessible from Horsforth on Pollard Lane which connects Horsforth to Bramley.
Horsforth has a large percentage of sandstone buildings sourced from local quarries, more than any other part of Leeds. A draft design statement was produced in 2010, which summarises much of the architectural and historical character. Given its size, Horsforth has a relatively high number of bars and pubs of varying types from traditional pubs going back to the 17th century to more modern café bars and lounges. Horsforth Town Street has the highest concentration of these with 8 bars and pubs within a short distance of each other. Other popular night life areas include Station Road and New Road Side.
( Horsforth - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Horsforth . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Horsforth - UK
