Breaking News One - Ernst Robberts 'terrorised’ his social worker neighbour
Breaking News One - Ernst Robberts 'terrorised’ his social worker neighbour
A Highland businessman 'terrorised' his neighbour in a six-year stalking campaign to such an extent that she suffered a stroke, a court heard yesterday. It has been claimed Ernst Robberts installed CCTV to watch her come and go as well as staring in her windows and making threats. The 50-year-old is said to have hounded Gail Nichol-Andrews at her remote cottage outside Invergordon, Ross and Cromarty, from 2010 to 2016.The land manager is charged with loitering outside the home she shares with her family repeatedly, as well as restricting access to her property. The trial at Tain Sheriff Court heard emotional evidence from social work manager Mrs Nichol-Andrews, 57, who was hidden by a screen from Robberts. She said: 'This man has absolutely terrorised our lives and he set out to deliberately do it.'In cross examination defence agent Alison Fogo asked her: 'Did you ever approach him directly to let him know how much this upset you?'Mrs Nichol-Andrews replied: 'Yes. I went out to him and said you need to stop doing what you're doing outside our house. You need to stop all of this.'I said I was going to call the police. He said, Ring them, they're all thick anyway.'I said I would get a solicitor. He said, Do it.'He said, It will cost you £10,000 or £20,000, that's by the time I'm done with you.'The court also heard evidence from her son Paul Andrews, 34, who claimed Robberts' actions had 'destroyed' his once strong mother since they moved into the rural property in 2008.The HGV driver, who also recounted witnessing Robberts' actions when he stayed with his parents, said: 'I've seen my mum have a stroke because of this man.'I've seen her health deteriorate and it's just been distressing for the whole family. My mum is a strong woman and this has started to break her.'Her other son, Ross Andrews, 26, told the court he believed his mother's hair had began to thin as a result of the stress. The court also heard claims from Robberts' own sister Mieke Horsburgh, who gave evidence with a screen blocking him from her sight. She told procurator fiscal depute Robert Weir she overheard her younger brother boasting about harassing Mrs Nichol-Andrews 'when there's no one around' at the bar of their family business in October 2010.The 51-year-old, who manages the family's holiday chalet business, said: 'He was sat next to a holiday regular customer. They were in conversation.'I heard him say there's a cottage next to the loch and the lady that lives there, he winds her up.'He winds her up and she goes f***ing mental.'Mrs Nichol-Andrews also told the court: 'I only really feel safe when I am away from home.'Robberts' agent alleges that the case is a simple dispute over access between neighbours, centring on a track leading through his land to the Nichol-Andrews residence.Robberts denies engaging in a course of conduct which caused fear or alarm to Mrs Nichol-Andrews on repeated occasions between December 13, 2010 and August 14, 2016.

Places to see in ( Dornoch - UK )
Dornoch is a town and seaside resort, and former Royal burgh in the Highlands of Scotland. It lies on the north shore of the Dornoch Firth, near to where it opens into the Moray Firth to the east. The town is within the Highland local government council area, and within the county of Sutherland.
The name 'Dornoch' is derived from the Gaelic for 'pebbly place', suggesting that the area contained pebbles the size of a fist (dorn) which could therefore be used as weapons. Dornoch has the thirteenth-century Dornoch Cathedral, the Old Town Jail, and the previous Bishop's Palace which is now the well-known hotel, Dornoch Castle and a notable golf course, the Royal Dornoch Golf Club, named the 5th best golf course outside the United States in 2005 by Golf Digest magazine.
It is also notable as the last place a witch was burnt in Scotland. Her name was Janet Horne; she was tried and condemned to death in 1727. There is a stone, the Witch's Stone, commemorating her death, inscribed with the year 1722. The golf course designer Donald Ross began his career as a greenkeeper on the Royal Dornoch links. The golf course is next to the award-winning blue flag beach.
Dornoch used to be connected to the main railway network at The Mound via a light railway. The railway was opened on 2 June 1902. Stations on the line were Dornoch, Embo, Skelbo, Cambusavie Halt and The Mound Junction. The stations were shut on 13 June 1960. Dornoch was a parliamentary burgh, combined with Dingwall, Kirkwall, Tain and Wick in the Northern Burghs constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1708 to 1801 and of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1918. Cromarty was added to the list in 1832.
