This is a video giving you a brief description of Cronin's Yard. A lovely hiking trail in Ireland.
Carrauntoohil trek, Ireland, Carrantoohil, Carrantouhil
Carrauntoohill, Ireland.
Highest point on the island. Irish people are great and so likeable, engaging, merry, agreeable, comely, .................... and ok, to the point.
Very nice walk, even if you are not experienced climber. Just take stiff boots and prepare for steep 'Devil's Ladder'.
Usual trail (from Cronin's Yard through Devil's Ladder) to the summit can be divided in to three parts, first - from Cronin's Yard to the bottom of Devil's Ladder: is almost flat, it goes along the bottom of the valley, you will sea two picturesque bridges (newly built), and then trek goes in beetween two samll lakes Lough Calee on the left and Lough Gouragh on the right.
When you pass few smaller and bigger rock, there starts second part which is Devil's Ladder. This is steep way up. You will need use your hands to climb - but its easy climb, in the rain can be more dangerous - USE GOOD BOOTS AND DON'T GO ALONE!. You can get wet, stream is going down that way, especially in the rain - I can't tell you much about this, we had good weather. There's a lot of loose stones and gravel, be careful not to drop some on others head. In Alps in such conditions people use helmets, so again, be careful.
Third part - when you go up Devil's Ladder you'll reach pass and see SW valley, now you have approx. 45 min walk uphill to the summit by the slope. And then - enjoy the view!
You can take easier way down (or up), there is a path on the left side of the valley, you should see it standing at the foot of Devil's Ladder or little bit before - zigzacking on the slope on your left. It might be hard to find when going up, but when you going down it's start is marked by mound of stones (google translation :).
Take care and do it!
Carrauntoohill, Irelandia.
Mijamy kilka mniejszych i większych głazów i docieramy do części drugiej czyli Diabelskiej Drabiny.
Polecam!

A memorable first ascent of this classic route on the north east face of Corran Tuathail. First climbed in February 1987 by Con Moriarty and the then 16 year old John Cronin. John still lives under the shadow of this beautiful mountain and together with his wife Esther they run a tea shop in Cronins Yard which is the gateway to the Reeks. Sample thier lovely home made soup and brown bread. Camping is also available in Cronins Yard where you will be made welcome.Piaras Kelly of KerryClimbing.ie was my lead climber on the day and after having the experience of my life on the climb I can highly recommend KerryClimbing.ie for a truly awe inspiring day out in the mountains

Hag's Glen and Carrauntuohill
Our hike on Sunday, May 20, 2012 to the summit of Carrauntuohill, the tallest peak in Ireland, topping out at 1,039 meters (3,409 feet). The summit was clear for most of the day. Started at Cronin's Yard, into Hag's Glen, up the Devil's Ladder, to the summit and back, then down via the zig zag trail back into Hag's Glen. The video starts with a view of Lough Callee and pans right to take in the summit of Carrauntuohill and surrounding peaks. Carruntuohill is part of a range of peaks on the Iveragh Peninsula known as Macgillicuddy's Reeks (Na Cruacha Dubha).

Devils Ladder Part 2 Obstacles and Hardships
This old wagon trail is becoming less friendly as we traverse down to the Red Lake area. Waterfalls, Season Creeks and Snow are just a few of the obstacles we would encounter. The trail at times is very overgrown and its a great time of year to explore as the ground in certain area is softer great for tracking Bigfoot.
