Another Place - Crosby Beach, England UK (2018)

Crosby Beach is part of the Merseyside coastline north of Liverpool in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, England, stretching about 2.5 miles.

The beach has been the permanent home of the Another Place sculptures by Antony Gormley since 2007.

Another Place is a piece of modern sculpture by Sir Antony Gormley located at Crosby Beach in Merseyside, England.
It consists of 100 cast iron figures facing towards the sea.
The figures are modelled on the artist's own naked body.
The work proved controversial due to the naked statues but has increased tourism to the beach.
After being exhibited at two other locations in space meeting by Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council on 7 March 2007 decided that the sculptures should be permanently installed at the beach.

The Crosby Sequence - Blitz Beach

….a torn city dropped from a great height

Through the coming together of science and the arts we have created a narrated coastal walk along Crosby’s shoreline, north of Liverpool UK. This has been developed to raise awareness of shoreline change and coastal hazards. The poems capture changes in land use, coastal processes, shoreline management and observational techniques. By becoming more aware of changing coastal conditions we hope people will act as advocates in shaping how communities better prepare for future change.

Building coastal community resilience: preparedness through poetry funded by AGU Celebrate 100 grants.

A trip down Hall road past Hall road train station then on to Burbo bank where the iron men are then up the Serpentine Rd sorry the sun made it a bit dark at times but was a nice morning this morning it was 9am 11th March 2011 such a nice day soft sea breeze but cold lol

Another Place. 100 statues on Crosby Beach

Despite controversy about the naked form of Sir Anthony Gormley's 100 cast iron statues, a decision was made to install them permanently along a 2 mile stretch of Crosby beach, Liverpool, back in 2007.
Like many of Sir Anthony's works of art, the statues are modelled on his own body and stand, facing out to sea, disappearing and then being revealed as the tides ebb and flow.
Personally, I love this art installation....and it definitely brings interest and tourism to the area.
Probably better known for his Angel of the North statue, Sir Anthony has certainly done his bit to bring art to the masses, and I wholeheartedly recommend anyone in the area to take a trip and stroll amongst these impressive 650kg figures.
It always brings a smile to my face when I see them, sometimes naked and covered in slime and at other times dressed in seaweed and a variety of accoutrements, either found or brought by passers by.
