Russian Cruiser Aurora - St. Petersburg, Russian Federation
Aurora is a 1900 Russian protected cruiser, currently preserved as a museum ship in Saint Petersburg. Aurora was one of three Pallada-class cruisers, built in Saint Petersburg for service in the Pacific. All three ships of this class served during the Russo-Japanese War. Aurora survived the Battle of Tsushima and was interned under US protection in the Philippines, and eventually returned to the Baltic Fleet.

Russia: Legendary Aurora battleship goes back on display in St. Petersburg
Scores of visitors queued on St. Petersburg's Petrograd Embankment waiting to visit the legendary Aurora cruiser, which opened to the public for the first time since its renovation on Wednesday.
Among the first aboard were the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Vladimir Korolev and the Commander of the Western Military District Andrei Kartapolov. The commanders inspected the overhauled cruiser and paid a visit to the ship’s museum display, which includes a multimedia hall.

Aurora Cruiser
To walk the decks of the cruiser Aurora is to know Russian history. Named for the Roman goddess of the dawn, Aurora made an epic transoceanic voyage and fought in the disastrous Battle of Tsushima in the Russo-Japanese War, covering the Russian retreat and surviving to return home. She later served in World War I and fired the first (blank) shot to mark the assault on the Winter Palace at the start of the October Revolution. During World War II, her crew demounted her guns and deployed them in the hard-fought Siege of Leningrad.
Today, few remember the names of the other two ships of this class, while the story of Aurora is truly amazing. Her life was a chain of grandiose events and lucky circumstances that allowed her to survive and be preserved as she is now.

The cruiser Aurora was involved in 3 wars that were the Russo - Japanese War, World War I (including the October Revolution) and World War II. The ship is located in St. Petersburg, Russia at the fork of the Neva and Nevka Rivers. It is a national monument and a tourist attraction, which should definitely be visited. Earlier, the city was also called Leningrad and Petrograd.
Russia: Putin visits legendary Aurora cruiser on Russia's Navy Day
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the legendary Aurora cruiser that helped to spark the October Revolution of 1917 in St. Petersburg, Sunday, to celebrate Russia's Navy Day.
The Russian President boarded the historical cruiser, Aurora, and examined the main deck and radio cabin of the vessel. Putin also heard a report from the captain of Aurora, Artem Znamenshchikov, and welcomed the cruiser's crew.

Along the Neva River to the Cruiser Aurora, Walking Across the City in Saint Petersburg, Russia
Last day in St. Petersburg, Russia! The day starts with us walking along the Neva River on a beautiful spring morning - first we head to the Cruiser Aurora, the battleship which signaled the storming of the Winter Palace when the Bolshevik's overthrew the provisional government.
After this we start walking back toward the main part of the city - the bridges in this area have views all around, with almost all major sightseeing points easily visible on a nice, clear day.
We continue back through the beach area on Petrogradskaya, right outside of the Peter & Paul Fortress, which affords great views toward Vasilyevskiy Island - afterward, we head to this island and the Strelka area, and look back toward the Fortress.
