N IRELAND: CRUMLIN: TWO SUSPECTS HELD AFTER SHOOTING
English/Nat
Two men were arrested in Northern Ireland following the murder of a young Catholic man who was found with serious head wounds near a railway station early on Saturday.
The victim had been out drinking on Friday night with friends in Crumlin, a town near Belfast.
The Royal Ulster Constabulary said it believed the killing was a sectarian one, probably carried out by loyalist paramilitaries.
The man was found at around 0300 local time (0200 GMT) by a local taxi driver.
Paramedics called to the scene were unable to save the young victim.
Members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary (R-U-C) and forensic scientists have been searching the area for evidence, in what they suspect was a sectarian killing.
The man had been out drinking on Friday with friends and it's believed he was shot while making his way home.
He was a local man - a student who worked part-time at the nearby Belfast International airport.
The local community has been shocked and angered by news of the first ever murder in their town.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Well the reaction is a reflection of the reaction of the whole community - one of shock and horror that this should be visited in Crumlin now after 30 years of violence. It's the first murder in Crumlin and obviously we are just devastated by it.
SUPER CAPTION: Brian Kennaway, Presbyterian Reverend for Crumlin
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Q: What do you say to those people who still are bent on killing Catholics?
I would say to those people to wise up. We are supposed to live in a Christian society and in saying that I think that is where forgiveness can come in. These people have no knowledge of God or Christianity whatsoever and I appeal to them to wise up, we are fed up of having murder and bombing over 30 years. Give the young people of this province an opportunity for their future.
SUPER CAPTION: Mervyn Wray, Ulster Unionist councillor for Crumlin
The attack came just four days after the murder of a 29-year-old Catholic council worker in Portadown.
In spite of the latest killings, two Protestant paramilitary groups - the Ulster Defence Association and Ulster Freedom Fighters - have declared their support for the April 10 peace deal.
The deal was reached by Northern Ireland's main Protestant and Catholic parties together with the British and Irish governments.

Goal of the Season by 7-year old Sean McDonnell - Crumlin United F.C. - HQ
Goal of the Season !!!!! (Higher Quality)
Take a bow Sean McDonnell. This 7 year old boy started & finished one of the best goals you are likely to see all year. He calmly beat his 1st opponent by controlling the ball, then a clever drag back allowed his team mate Sam Cowzer to dribble forward & release the ball back to Sean with sole roll. Sean had a quick look at the keeper and decided he could catch him off his line so he chipped the ball up & caught it sweet on the volley & it dipped over the keepers head and into the net ;)))
This creative play & skill is a product of good coaching & a great decision by the DDSL to have no league tables & points at stake for our younger players. This allows the kids to express themselves without the fear of losing a game at an age were it doesn't matter. Hopefully the next Robbie Keane is only around the corner ;)))
Many thanks to Tanya Sheridan for the footage !!!

Autumn - Northern Ireland
Another one of my seasonal videos, this time Autumn. I had a wonderful time exploring the many forests and parks around the Counties of Down and Antrim in Northern Ireland over the past 2 years. I didnt want it to end.... Discovering and learning about the different types of fungi was challenging but fascinating. The one fungi that eluded me was the fairy tail mushroom - Fly Agaric. There is always next autumn...I'll be on its trail...

Disused Army Village, Northern Ireland
Ever wonder what a village would look like if it was abandoned for 10 years? This is a disused army village that we visited last year in Northern Ireland.
It was in the process of being flattened, so we stopped by to photograph it before it was reduced to rubble. Quite a lot of work had already been done but it was a really interesting day out.
