Thailand Sailing Catamaran Amadeus. Cabin Cruise to Phukets Southern Islands
A typical join in sailing cruise on the catamaran Amadeus sailing from Chalong Bay on a 6 day-5 night cruise to the Southern islands off Phuket:
Day 1 – Transfer from the airport or from your hotel to Chalong, where the ship is moored. At 10:30 AM, you can board the Amadeus and settle into your cabin. After an orientation by the Captain, the Amadeus sets off at 11:30 AM.
In about two hours, we will reach the Koh Mai Thon Island, where you can enjoy the warm, clear waters of the Indian Ocean.
Then you will have your first taste of our chef’s delicious cooking. After lunch, we will set sail again, this time for Ko Phi Phi Don. Tonsai Bay, the main bay in Phi Phi island is not a quiet and tranquil place
There you can wander through the streets, have a drink at a bar, or relax with a massage. In the evening, enjoy a wonderful dinner aboard the ship. This will be our first overnight location.
Day 2 – Anyone feeling energetic to walk to the viewpoint? One needs to go early, before it gets hot and the steep steps will get you out of breath, but you will be rewarded with an amazing view of the two large Bays.
You will return to the yacht and breakfast will be waiting for you before we set sail for Kantiang Beach in Ko Lanta, This is one of the larger islands and it offers great beaches and the island is covered with natural forests inviting you for a scenic walk to a water fall. After you return, we sail a bit further South to a secluded anchorage and here we have a great small restaurant with excellent Thai cuisine. This will give you the chance to eat out for a change and experience real Thai hospitality. (The dinner and drinks on shore are not included in the price)
Day 3 – On this day, breakfast will be served while we sail. Our destination: Ko Muk Island.
Here you can visit the Emerald Cave, where a breath-taking surprise awaits you.
Once again, we will hoist our big sails, and with good wind, we should reach Ko Rok Nok Island in about two hours. This area is world-famous for its snorkeling and diving, and it boasts the most beautiful beach of the Andaman Sea.
The water is crystal clear, and the range of sea life in the Coral Sea will amaze you. In the evening, we’ll set up a barbecue on the white sand, which you can enjoy under a beautiful sunset.
Day 4 – You really won’t want to leave right away. Before we set off, make sure to take one last dip in this gorgeous natural setting.
On the way to Ko Phi Phi Leh, we will stop for more snorkeling at Ko Ha. You might be able to catch some tuna for very fresh sashimi along the way.
Just in time for a spectacular sunset, we arrive at Maya Bay. This is where the film “The Beach” was shot. The bay’s main beach is closed at the moment to give the reef a chance to recover from over tourism, but we are still able to pick up a mooring and stay at this spectacular place for the night.
Day 5 – At seven in the morning, the world is just waking up. Enjoy a fresh cup of coffee as you contemplate the morning light in Maya Bay. We depart before breakfast to another secluded place on the West coast of Phi Phi Don, enjoy the snorkeling and breakfast there and you can try the SUP or grab a kayak to paddle to the beach.
Later we set sail and depart for Ko Racha Yai, with the hope to spot some bottle nose dolphins which are regulars in that area. Again, the waters there are crystal clear inviting you for a swim and snorkel. We have several anchorages to choose from, all of them feature stunning beaches.
Day 6 – After breakfast, the ship will take you back to Phuket’s Chalong Bay. We will arrive around noon, and you will disembark with unforgettable memories. Of course, we will make sure get you to the airport on time, or take you to your hotel.

Diving in Thailand, RACHA ISLAND, Racha Yai Island, february 2019
Racha Yai Island
Racha Yai (or Raya Yai, or sometimes Raja Yai) is probably our most popular local dive destination from Phuket. The island is not too far away, about 15km south of Chalong Bay where day trips depart from, you can dive there year round and with shallow bays plus reefs down to 25 meter depth it’s suitable for all divers. It’s our main training location for new divers, and also ideal for a scuba review or just a couple of easy dives in clear water.
Racha Yai Island is not large – about 3.5km long and 1.5km wide, but it’s big enough to provide shelter on windy days, meaning we can dive there any time of year. There are about 6 “named” dive sites all around the island, most being on the east coast, which makes Racha Yai a great place to dive during our low season when winds blow from the west.

Phuket: 2014 Koh Racha Yai Scuba Fun Dive Wrecked Wreck Fish GoPro (unedited)
My second dive with South Siam diving in Phuket is off the coast of Racha Yai. We already did a dive at Bay 3 with an artificial reef created from large square blocks. Our dive at Bay 1 has a submerged small ferry boat, which will be my first wreck dive,
The water here is insanely clear. You have 30m+ of visibility which is pretty unheard of. It is crystal. Around the wreck are a handful of scorpion fish and puffer fish and bucket loads of smaller fish. There are dense shoals of small fish everywhere. Really fun dive around 25m depth.
Taking aerial video above the wreck was kind of a trip. I like the level dynamic of moving up above something and then swimming back down. Much easier to do this panning shot underwater then in the air since it would require a crane. Im amazed at the density of small fish here. The sea floor from Koh Racha Yai is a downward slope all the way to the bottom and then flattens out to this beautifully serene sea floor. The current is damn near non-existent and the water is crystal clear. Good dive, even for a consolation prize (I had wanted to dive King Cruiser and Shark Point but with only 6 dives leading up to Phuket I was still too green (-_- );
Crystal Blue Vacation: Episode 6 - Exploring Ko Racha Yai, Thailand
Sailing on SV Crystal Blue from Phuket's Ao Yon bay to Ko Racha Yai Island in search of clear blue water & coral reefs. I dive with the Fish and Game Department of Thailand to inspect a coral regeneration project, on a ship wreck twenty five meters below the surface. While I'm at Ko Racha Yai, I take advantage of the clear water to clean my hull, and hundreds of fish lend a hand. On this voyage I encounter lots of fish, a big moray eel, a pink flamingo, and a floating unicorn.
Travelling across Phuket from Kata Beach to Old Town to eat some amazing Thai food
I travel across Phuket from Kata Beach (where the food was largely generic and not as delicious as I had hoped) to Old Town (which, based on this meal was much, much better).
My family and I had spent several days taking it fairly easy on the beach but I, in particular, was disappointed by the food available there. So to finish our visit to the Island we hired a pretty expensive taxi to take us across Phuket via the 'Big Buddha' (which was indeed big) and the Wat Chalong temple (which was smaller) to Old Town, the main hub. Only having enough time for one meal we headed to Thalong Road which boasts some very pleasant and well-maintained Sino-Portuguese architecture and settled down to lunch at the recommended Kopitiam by Wilai which is a Thai/Nyonya (a Malaysian cuisine) fusion restaurant. We were certainly not disappointed.
Music: Cellsong - Gwei-Lo (with a tiny bit of Homework - Gwei-Lo). I was given special permission to use this very excellent music by Gav Johnson formally of Gwei-Lo. It is well worth checking out which includes this music and much more form Gav's musical career. I am hoping to continue using music from this unique resource in future videos.
Finally, I apologise for the jerky and wobbly sequences from this video. I clearly need to get a steady cam-type thing and use the tripod I do own more. Hopefully you'll see better from me in the future. Perhaps you will enjoy this regardless. Thank you.
Phuket: 2014 Koh Racha Yai Scuba Fun Dive First Wreck Dive GoPro (unedied)
My second dive with South Siam diving in Phuket is off the coast of Racha Yai. We already did a dive at Bay 3 with an artificial reef created from large square blocks. Our dive at Bay 1 has a submerged small ferry boat, which will be my first wreck dive,
The water here is insanely clear. You have 30m+ of visibility which is pretty unheard of. It is crystal. Around the wreck are a handful of scorpion fish and puffer fish and bucket loads of smaller fish. There are dense shoals of small fish everywhere. Really fun dive around 25m depth.
After much milling about we finally penetrate the small wrecked craft. First time inside an underwater wreck and already I identify a few bad habits to get rid of: swinging arms around. Mental note to purchase a pointer to lean on. There were a lot of fish hiding inside the open spaces as I imagine they would be. Kind of a small craft but still gave me a rush of actually getting to do something fun other than chasing reef fish around.
Look forward to diving King Cruiser out by Koh Phi Phi and Shark Point when I get a few more dives under my belt. These two dives at Koh Racha Yai puts me to 8 dives whoo!! I should really pick up advanced when I get back to BKK...gawd knows how long that will be hahahaha.
Coral Island, the closest paradise to Phuket
The beaches of Phuket are beautiful, but not memorable. Patong, Charon, Kata, Chalong are always better than Sottomarina, much better, but to see those dream places that have pushed you to come to Thailand (if you have come to the sea and to the beaches ...) you have to go in the islands. Phi Phi Island, Kao Phing Kan (better known as James Bond Island) or Similan Island give breathtaking scenery, but are distant.
In the necklace of islands, islets, rocks and more or less large atolls surrounding Phuket the most rewarding excursion in the relationship between the beauty of the sites and the distance to reach them is that at Koral Island.
From Rawai Beach, in the southwestern part of the peninsula, a seaside beachfront restaurant with tens and dozens of bottomed boats, takes a classic long tail boat and in about twenty minutes, for 1800 baths treatable, you arrive at your destination.
You will find yourself in the typical tropical beach, with white sand, palm trees and mangroves, from which monkeys and tucsons come up, lava rock cliffs, a transparent sea, snorkelling paradise. On the walnut you walk on a coral carpet, however, the name speaks clearly.
Defects? Sometimes it is a bit crowded, especially when the trips of the Chinese arrive, landing in bulk filling the half-pole jets. They are so many that sometimes it seems to be ... Meadow. Other things? Beware of sunburn and insolation because the white sand reflects like a mirror and rushes like a crustacean on the grill is a moment. Better to stay in the shade of a mangrove or take a sheltered cot. So much for what it costs. Underneath the palm trees, close to the island's barracks, among the Italian tourists' groups (sometimes found between Russians and Chinese), you will find a guy called Anan. You will recognize it immediately because it looks like a pirate emerged from a Salgari novel. Annan, but everyone calls him Antonio. He has been working for Franco Rosso for twenty years and speaks a perfect Italian. It will tell you a lot of interesting things on the island and its surroundings. For example, did you know that all the islands in the South of Phuket have Malay names? Exact. And Phuket itself is a Malay word, meaning mountain.
Phuket Thailand - Paradise on Earth
Phuket Thailand - Paradise on Earth
Phuket is Thailand's largest at 48km in length and 21km at its widest. It's in Southern Thailand, on the west-facing Andaman Sea coastline, suspended from the southern tip of Phang Nga Province by a pair of short but substantial road bridges.
Phuket island in the Andaman Sea, has some of Thailand’s most popular beaches, mainly situated along the clear waters of the western shore. The island is home to many high-end seaside resorts, spas and restaurants. Phuket City, the capital, has old shophouses and busy markets. Patong, the main resort town, has many nightclubs, bars and discos.
Phuket Town is the largest town in Phuket Province. It has a population of 63,000 and is the economic hub of the island. For the most part just an ordinary, scruffy provincial Thai town, it's hardly a major tourist attraction, but the Chinatown area is worth a quick look and there are some great Thai-style shopping opportunities too. Overall, accommodation and food in the town is cheaper than near the beaches, and can provide a refreshing change of pace.
Regions of Phuket :
Western Phuket (Bang Thao, Kamala, Karon, Kata, Laem Sing, Mai Khao, Nai Thon and Nai Yang, Patong, Surin)
Southeastern Phuket (Chalong Bay, Cape Panwa, Nai Han, Rawai, Ya Nui)
Interior Phuket (Bang Rong, Ko Sire, Phuket Town, Phra Taew National Park, Thalang)
Small islands southern-eastern Phuket and Phang Nga Bay (Ko Bon, Ko Hae, Ko Lon, Ko Mai Thon, Ko Racha, Ko Maphrao, Ko Naka, Ko Yao, Ko Panyi, Ko Tapu (James Bond Island))
Cities of Phuket :
Chalong Bay — home to Phuket's most popular yacht anchorage and the primary gateway to the islands off Phuket
Kamala — a quieter beach to the north of Patong
Karon — the second most-developed beach after Patong
Kata — busy, clean tourist beaches with good surf, split into Kata Yai and Kata Noi Beaches
Nai Thon and Nai Yang — two quiet beaches in Sirinat National Park
Patong — the largest beach resort, known for its night life
Phuket Town — the administrative centre of the province, and the island's main population centre
Rawai — set off point for lots of local islands, popular with locals for eating on the water front
Surin — an up-and-coming up-market destination
Phuket is hot and humid throughout the year. The hot season is generally considered to be from March to early May. During the summer monsoon season from May to October, mornings and afternoons are still sunny and clear, but it tends to rain in the evenings and water clarity goes down. Locals consider November to February the cool season, and the weather is quite tolerable, much more so than in the tourism centres around the Gulf coast. It's comparable to Florida's summer weather in temperature and intensity of rain storms: 25-33°C, flying clouds, short and thunderous rainfalls in the afternoons and evenings. Surfing is possible off the western beaches.

Krabi - Thailand [Food, Kayaking, Snorkeling] [HD]
A short trip to Krabi with a group of friends. Together, we did water sports activities and enjoyed the tranquility of the sunset beach, nature limestone karsts, marine life and mangrove.
Krabi, a coastal province, abounds with countless natural attractions that never fail to impress tourists. Such attractions include white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, fascinating coral reefs, caves and waterfalls, as well as numerous islands.
The distinguishing feature of both Krabi and neighboring Phang Nga is the massive limestone karsts, rising vertiginously out of the flat rice paddies on land and as islands from the sea. Add in some gorgeous beaches and excellent scuba diving and rock climbing, and it's little wonder that tourism in the area has been booming. (Quote from WikiTravel)
