Biking the Betsie Valley Trail
Betsie Valley Trail
This is our favorite bike trail from Beulah to Frankfort. The trail is 10 miles each way and is black top for 8 of the 10 miles. The trail parallels the south shore of Crystal Lake and also the north shore of the Betsie River. The trail also goes through the town of Beulah before entering the beautiful town of Frankfort.
Frankfort Farmer's Market
A tour of the year-round Frankfort Farmer's Market, held every Saturday morning from 9 AM - 1 PM. In the winter, the indoor location is at the Recreation Center, 9th & Main Street, downtown Frankfort along the Waterfront.

Coast Guard helicopter crew rescues man stranded on Frankfort pier
BENZIE COUNTY, Mich. — A man who was stranded on a pier in Frankfort was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard.
It happened late Friday on the Frankfort North Pier Head entrance to Betsie Lake.
The Coast Guard says the man was fishing when the weather picked up. He then became stuck on the pier due to crashing waves over the break wall.
The Coast Guard was notified by the Benzie County Central Dispatch around 9:25 p.m. Coast Guard Station Frankfort then launched a 25-foot response boat, a small crew and a Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City MH-60 jayhawk helicopter crew.
The response boat arrived on scene first and confirmed the man was on the wall. The boat could not help with the rescue due to the shallow water.
The Coast Guard says the MH-60 helicopter crew hovered over the lighthouse on the pier and lowered a rescue swimmer who then basket-hoisted the man to safety with no injuries before flying to Frankfort Dow Memorial Airport where local EMS were standing by.
The Coast Guard would like to remind all fishermen to be aware of their surroundings and to check the weather before going out.
The Coast Guard says the MH-60 jayhawk helicopters are new to Air Station Traverse City as the MH-65 dolphin helicopters are phased out. The jayhawk helicopters provide better capability, more power, and an ability to hoist more people.
The last Air Station Traverse City MH-65 dolphin helicopter is scheduled to depart from the air station on Monday.
