Auckland Harbour Cruise | New Zealand Travel Vlog | 13D18
New Zealand Travel Vlog: Auckland Harbour Cruise Tour
You are watching one of my New Zealand travel videos, and today I am taking you to the Auckland Harbour Cruise.
Waitemata Harbour, or simply known as Auckland Harbour, surrounded by numerous islands dotting the harbour.
You will see lots of sailing boats. Very obvious why Auckland is called the City of Sails.
The cruise ship was a medium-sized boat divided into upper and lower decks. The upper deck provided a better view. I saw a really big cruise ship, which was the Celebrity Solstice, one of the top 20 largest cruise ships. Lots of passengers from Celebrity Solstice waving at us, but they were on decks so high they looked like little dots.
The tour lasted 1.5-hours. I saw Rangitoto Island, which is a volcanic island. Some Other places I saw were Devonport’s historic naval base, Bean Rock Lighthouse, Hauraki Gulf, and Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Tea, coffee, and some light snacks were provided, but there were a lot more options if someone wanted to pay for more.
The views of the Auckland Harbour and the coastal areas surrounding the harbour were breathtaking. After 10 minutes of passing Auckland’s waterfront and harbour area, natural splendour takes over.
In the next few videos, I will be sharing my experiences in New Zealand with you. Please join me and experience the beautiful New Zealand.

Waiari Stream - 31 August 2014 - New Zealand
Whitewater kayaking on Waiari Stream - one of our awesome local(ish) playgrounds!
Waiari stream is a beautiful, crystal-clear spring-fed gorge in Te Puke, Bay of Plenty, NZ. A deep valley drops into a moss-lined gorge covered in native forest, hidden among the kiwifruit orchards above.
The kayaking (Grade II-III) starts out pretty bony but gets deeper and gorgier as you go, lots of fun and the scenery makes it even better! There's a manky waterfall at the end with ledges at the bottom - run it if you're keen.
Paddlers: Kazuto, Arne, James, Jenny, Cam, Ollie, Lewis and me from Auckland Uni Canoe Club =)

Lake Taupo
New Zealand’s largest lake is located right at the centre of the North Island. The majestic Lake Taupo is drained by the Waikato River — the country’s largest river — as a result of past volcanic activity. You’ll likely get to see it if you’re venturing onto the popular Tongariro Crossing hike, or if you’re readying yourself to shred some powder at the Whakapapa Ski Resort. Lake Taupo is also a place of Maori significance, so it’s worth a trip not just for its compelling rock formations but also to get familiar with the local culture.

The Mirror Lakes
True to their name, the incredible Mirror Lakes offer a sublime, mirror-like perspective of Fiordland National Park and the Earl Mountains. The beech forest backdrop enhances the picture-perfect landscape, which can be easily accessed through an easy 10 minute walk from Milford Road. From there, you can sit back, relax, and appreciate the passing waterfowl and nearby wetlands.

Emerald Lake
The small but incredibly charming Emerald Lake is bound to amaze everyone who ventures into the epic Tongariro Crossing. A remarkable emerald hue, emitted by geothermal activity, colours the waters of this lake. To get close to it, you need to climb up the famed rocky terrains known as the Devil’s Steps. It’s a lot of hard work, but the journey will definitely be worth it.
Lake Quill
Lake Quill is a real treat to see from up close if you’re heading onto Fiordland National Park. Admittedly, you can only really reach the lake itself via helicopter, though you should be able to get a good glimpse of its from the Milford Track. Crystal clear glacial waters will marvel all the nature enthusiasts who get to bask at Lake Quill’s extraordinary beauty.
Lake Wanaka
An incredibly scenic drive from Queenstown will lead you to Lake Wanaka and its enveloping township. This breathtakingly picturesque lake is surrounded by mountain ranges; in fact, its shores are very much the gateway into Mount Aspiring National Park. Lake Wanaka is one of the country’s largest, with a length of 45 kilometres (28 miles) and a total area of 193 square kilometres (74.5 square miles). The clear waters, which flow through to the Clutha River, are a popular spot for keen kayakers and jet-boaters.
Lake Wakatipu
This inland lake is a favourite among South Island bound travellers. Lake Wakatipu is New Zealand’s longest, stretching across 80 kilometres (50 miles). It flows onto the Dart River in the north, is drained by the Kawarau River east of Queenstown, and is surrounded by the Southern Alps and The Remarkables mountain range. Along with an idyllic backdrop, Lake Wakatipu is also a must-visit for adventurous tourists and chilled out visitors wanting to unwind over a lakeside picnic.
Lake Rotorua
Lake Rotorua is only within a couple of hours’ drive from Auckland, and not too far away from Lake Taupo either. As with many New Zealand lakes, this one was carved out of centuries of volcanic activity; in fact, Rotorua is quite renowned for its geothermal springs. High sulphur concentrations give Lake Rotorua a distinctive yellow-green tinge in some parts — quite compelling for those who haven’t seen anything like it before.
Lake Hawea
Lake Hawea is quite close to Wanaka, stretching across 20 kilometres’ (12.4 miles’) worth of mountains. It is a definite must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts — people head to Lake Hawea to try their hand at fly fishing, kite surfing, and kayaking. If you feel like going on a lakeside trek, make sure to soak up the wonderful Central Otago mountain ranges and highlands all around you.

Lake Matheson
If you’re hiking around Fox Glacier, on the West Coast, a detour to Lake Matheson’s forested shorelines will be worth every minute. The reflective waters paint a beautiful picture of Aoraki/Mount Cook and Mount Tasman, and you might even spot an eel break at lake’s surface. Lake Matheson was formed some 14,
Espressoholic
When Leighton Dunlop started Espressoholic, he had no idea that he was to create a favourite late-night hangout for countless caffeine junkies - or that the cafe was going to help him find true love.
Sure enough, the cafe became an icon and when Majida Tooma bought the business from him about 10 years ago (he stayed on to manage) he found his future wife. Nowadays, they still serve the same fresh, locally sourced food that made Espressoholic an icon.
Be sure to visit Espressoholic for a nice, hot cuppa or indulge in one of their many cabinet treats on display. Psst, they're licensed too!

TRAVELING THROUGH THE SOUTH ISLAND OF NEW ZEALAND II VLOG
After living in Auckland for 5 months I travelled through the south island of New Zealand with my friends. These are my last 10 days in New Zealand and they were amazing.
Enjoy!
Time-lapse Mt Eden Mangere Mountain One Tree Hill, Auckland
I took lots of photos as i walked around the craters of three of Auckland's volcanos, and animated them together. The craters are - Mount Eden with its steep sides, Mangere Mountain with its central lava dome, and One Tree Hill with its rocks that people write messages with. Auckland, New Zealand.
MataMata visitor centre
and it looks like Hobbiton for a good reason. $75.00 for a tour of it just seemed like an outlandish rip-off, and certainly not good vale for money. However, for some of you, it'll be fine. Taken on Saturday 26/April/2014.

“A green paddock, in front of a crystal clear lake, surrounded by ice-capped mountains, under a blazing sun”. That’s how Upper Clutha’s manager describes his rugby ground. And he isn’t joking. Yet, in this expansive paradise, temperatures can plummet to as low as -20°C. Not that these guys let something like the weather get in the way of their greatest passion.

Glass Blowing in Hokitika - New Zealand's Biggest Gap Year – Backpacker Guide New Zealand
Day 115: Today our plans change when we have a classic New Zealand West Coast downpour so our salvation is to do some glass blowing in Hokitika at the Hokitika Glass Studio! Join us for today’s fun and unexpected activity as part of our 365 Days: 365 Activities in New Zealand.

30 Tips for Backpacking in New Zealand ➜
-- About this video --
Today, the original plan is to check out the West Coast Treetop Walkway but when we get there we find it almost impossible to safely film with our cameras under the huge amount of rain! We need to find an alternative activity. What to do in Hokitika on a rainy day?
We head back to Hokitika town and remember a place in town called the Hokitika Glass Studio where you can watch people glass blowing. It’s such an unusual and skilful craft that we figure that would be fun to check out!
We go to the Hokitika Glass Studio and meet the team of the family business, Anthony and Barry, who invite us to try some glass blowing for ourselves, as well as watch them do some glass blowing demonstrations. We never thought we would be doing glass blowing in New Zealand but here we are attempting to do some glass art in Hokitika.
We learn a lot about the fascinating craft of New Zealand glass art and even get ourselves some glass souvenirs to remember our time here at Hokitika Glass Studio. It was our saviour for Day 115 of our New Zealand travel vlog where we need to do 365 activities in 365 days in New Zealand! Checking out the Hokitika Glass Studio is a pretty cool activity for a rainy day in Hokitika.
So what do you think of the Hokitika Glass Studio? Would you choose to do this rainy day activity in Hokitika?
