Wangfujing (Chinese: 王府井; pinyin: Wángfǔjǐng; literally: 'Prince's Mansion Well') is a shopping street in Beijing, China, located in Dongcheng District. The majority of the main area is pedestrianised. Since the middle of the Ming Dynasty there have been commercial activities in the area. In the Qing Dynasty, ten aristocratic estates and princess residence were built here, soon after when a well full of sweet water was discovered, thereby giving the street its name Wang Fu (princely residence), Jing (well). Many exotic foods are served on Wangfujing snack street.
* Location ;
The street starts from Wangfujing Nankou (south entrance), where the Oriental Plaza, Beijing Hotel, and Wangfujing Subway Station are located. The street then heads north, passing the Wangfujing Xinhua Bookstore, the Beijing Department Store as well as the Beijing Foreign Languages Bookstore before ending at the Sun Dong An Plaza and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
* History ;
The street was also previously known as Morrison Street in English, after the Australian journalist George Ernest Morrison. Wangfujing is also one of the traditional downtown areas of Beijing, along with Liulichang.
Until the late 1990s, the street was open to traffic. Modifications in 1999 and 2000 made much of Wangfujing Street pedestrian only (aside from the tour trolley). Now through traffic detours to the east of the street.
The 2011 Chinese pro-democracy protests were planned to take place in Wangfujing. Some violence occurred there between police and foreign journalists.
* Store ;
Wangfujing is now home to around 280 shops. Wangfujing malls include the Beijing Department Store, Beijing apm, Beijing Mall and The Malls at Oriental Plaza.
* Food and snacks ;
Wangfujing snack street, located in hutongs just west of the main street, contains many restaurants and street food stalls. The food stalls serve a variety of common and exotic street food, including chuanr (meat kebabs, commonly made of lamb) and desserts, such as tanghulu or candied fruits on a stick.
* Transport ;
The Wangfujing Station of Beijing Subway Line 1 is located at the intersection of Wangfujing Street and Chang'an Avenue.

Average Day of a Chinese Office Worker in Shanghai
Li Yi Xuan is a 25 year old Chinese woman who grew up in Beijing and has been living in Shanghai for just two months. She works for a company called Baopals, which is an English language platform that connects users to products from Chinese shopping sites such as Taobao.

Inside the Chinese Military's Secret Nuclear Mega Base // Along the Yangtze Day 2
On the 2nd day of my trip along the Yangtze, I detoured to the 816 Nuclear Military Plant, which was build during the Cold War. It's a massive nuclear base that was constructed in a mountain. The Chinese were planning to make plutonium in it, and to store military explosives.
I took a tour of the facility, including the world's largest man-made cave where they were planning to build a nuclear reactor.

Watch Shopping at flea market and antique shops in Hong Kong
Hollywood Road is the centre of the art and antiques trade in Hong Kong, a winding thoroughfare lined with dozens of shops selling all manner of bits and pieces from the oriental past, from period furniture to Mao memorabilia. Start your walk at Possession Street where the British Royal Navy landed in 1841 to claim Hong Kong Island in the name of Queen Victoria.
Along Hollywood Road you will pass dozens of antiques shops filled with furniture, ceramics and objets d’art. When it’s time for refreshments to review your finds, there are plenty of options in SoHo (from South of Hollywood Road, though it now extends either side). A detour left down Aberdeen Street will lead to a kind of monument, the Lin Heung, one of the best traditional tea and dim sum houses, and on Hollywood Road itself is Vietnamese Song.
You can also rummage for relics and old photos of Hong Kong at the Low Price Second Hand Shop, an open-fronted bric-a-brac shop on the corner of Lyndhurst Terrace, or find an ironic take on Hong Kong culture at GOD (Goods of Desire), across the road. The Mid-Levels Escalator crosses Hollywood Road here and heads up Shelley Street. Bacar is a good place to stop off for food.
Art galleries and antiques shops start giving way to boutiques and restaurants on the remaining part of Hollywood Road. The imposing buildings across the street are the former Central Police Station and Victoria Prison. The earliest of these monuments to colonial law and order were built in 1864, and new buildings were added over 60 years. Now declared ‘monuments of Hong Kong’, their future use is under discussion. Climb steep Old Bailey Street to take in the view of the former prison.

Toronto is the most populous city in Canada,[12] the provincial capital of Ontario,[13] and the centre of the Greater Toronto Area, the most populous metropolitan area in Canada.[14] In the 2011 census, Toronto had a population of 2,615,060, making it the fifth largest city in North America.[6] A population estimate from a city report released in 2013 shows the city is now the fourth most populous city in North America, after Mexico City, New York City, and Los Angeles.[15][16] A global city,[17] Toronto is an international centre of business, finance, arts, and culture,[18][19] and is widely recognized as one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world.[20][21][22][23][24]
Aboriginal peoples have inhabited the area now known as Toronto for thousands of years.[25] The urban history of the city dates back to 1787, when British officials negotiated the Toronto Purchase with the Mississaugas of the New Credit.[26] They established the Town of York, and later designated it as the capital of Upper Canada.[27] During the War of 1812, the town was the site of the Battle of York and suffered heavy damage by U.S. troops.[28] York was renamed and incorporated as the City of Toronto in 1834, and became the capital of the province of Ontario in 1867.[29] The original borders of Toronto were expanded through amalgamation with surrounding municipalities at various times in its history, the results of which can be seen in the 140 independently unique and clearly defined official neighbourhoods that make up the city.[30]
Located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is situated on a broad sloping plateau intersected by an extensive network of rivers, deep ravines, and urban forest.[31] It anchors the Golden Horseshoe, a densely populated region surrounding the western end of Lake Ontario that is home to 8.7 million people,[32] or around 26% of the entire population of Canada.[33] The demographics of Toronto make it one of the world's most diverse cities,[20][21] with about 50% of residents having been born in a country other than Canada,[34] and over 200 distinct ethnic origins represented among its inhabitants.[35] The vastly international population of the city reflects its current and historical role as an important destination for immigrants to Canada.[34][36] While English is the primary language spoken by the majority of Torontonians, there are over 160 different languages spoken in the city.[37]
Toronto is a prominent centre for music,[38] theatre,[39] motion picture production,[40] and television production,[41] and is home to the headquarters of Canada's major national broadcast networks and media outlets.[42] Its varied cultural institutions,[43] which include numerous museums and galleries, festivals and public events, entertainment districts, national historic sites, and sports activities,[44] are key attractions to the over 25 million tourists that visit the city each year.[45][46] Toronto is well known for its skyscrapers and high-rise buildings,[47] in particular the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere, the CN Tower.[48] As Canada's commercial capital, the city is home to the Toronto Stock Exchange, the headquarters of Canada's five largest banks,[49] and the headquarters of many large Canadian and multinational corporations.[50] Its economy is highly diversified with strengths in technology, design, financial services, life sciences, education, arts, fashion, business services, environmental innovation, food services, and tourism.
